Carefully read this manual before using the instrument as it supplies important indications concerning OPERATING SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE.

The descriptions and illustrations supplied in this manual are not binding.

3. SAFETY

Operators must read this manual carefully, comply with the instructions it contains and become familiar with the correct use and maintenance procedures of the instrument.

 Retain this manual for consultation and as a help in staff training

 Do not overload the instrument beyond its maximum capacity

 Do not apply loads abruptly.

 Do not press the keys with sharp or pointed objects

 Do not try to open the instrument.

 Do not remove seals from the instrument.

 Do not short-circuit the battery terminals

 Use only the power supply provided by Wunder. Before using it, make sure that the local mains voltage is compatible with the voltage of the adapter shown on the identification plate

 Regularly check the integrity of the instrument's power cord and make sure it does not come in contact with hot appliances

 Make sure that the power cord does not create obstruction hazards

 Unplug the instrument before cleaning it

 Do not place the instrument in water or other liquids

 Perform maintenance and subsequent metric verifications regularly

3.1 Intended use

This device is designed to be used to check the weight of patients who find it hard to remain in an upright position for general diagnostic purposes.

Environment of use: in hospitals and medical clinics. The installation room must be equipped with an electrical system compliant with current regulations.

It is recommended to use the scales in environments that are not exposed to magnetic interference.

Personnel intended to use the product: operators and doctors who are familiar with the product.

Checking and Responsibility: the medical device must be used under the supervision of a qualified doctor or by a qualified person in charge of maintenance and regular inspections.

Limitations of use: this medical device can only be used as described in this manual.

6.USABILITY

1.Make sure that the instrument is placed on a flat, stable surface away from heat sources, in an environment free of excessive vibrations and air currents.

2. Connect the equipment to the mains socket with the supplied Wunder external power supply.

3. Prior to weighing the patient, lock the wheels to steady the instrument and to optimize the weight measurement.

4 .Turn the scales on using the key and make sure the weight display shows 0.0kg

5.Carefully place the patient in the supine position so that the weight is distributed properly.

NOTE: to facilitate positioning the patient on the bed, the side rails can be removed.

7. INSTALLATION

ATTENTION!

AFTER HAVING VERIFIED THE INTEGRITY OF THE EQUIPMENT AND OF ALL ITS COMPONENTS, CONNECT THE INSTRUMENT WITH THE

SUPPLIED POWER SUPPLY TO CORRECTLY RECHARGE THE BATTERIES

7.1 ASSEMBLING HEAD/FOOT BOARD AND SIDE RAILS

The head and foot boards are inserted in their special slots on the post of the main frame of the bed, as indicated by the red arrows in the illustration.

TECHNICAL NOTES:

The special housings for the boards are designed ad hoc with the aim of providing and guaranteeing speed and security if they need to be removed in an emergency situation.

The 4 side rails are inserted in their special side housings of the bed sections and can be adjusted to three different heights (see illustration knobs circled in red) depending on the size of the patient, as indicated by the red arrows in the illustration.

TECHNICAL NOTES:

The metal side rails are designed to provide reasonable protection against accidental falls on overweight patients.

8. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

8.1 ADJUSTMENTS OF BED SCALE SECTIONS

The bariatric bed scale model PL300-400 is composed of 4 adjustable sections: Backrest (max54°), Legrest (max24°), height

370~800mm, Trendelenburg and anti-Trendelenburg (max+/-18°) adjustable with 8 key monitor with simple graphics and safety lock.

8.2 WIDENING OF BED SCALE SECTIONS

WIDENING OF SECTIONS from 90 to 105 to 120 cm.

They can be adjusted to 2 different widths according to the patient's needs: do so by pulling the black knob located under the section concerned.

BED EXTENSION from 200 to 220 cm.

To extend the foot section, loosen the two black knobs located under the section on the main frame of the bed.

Pull the foot board outwards.

Take the 5°section (additional mesh frame) and position it horizontally.

Tighten the two black knobs.

8.3 PEDAL CONTROL

The bariatric bed scale model PL300-400 is equipped with four 360° swivel castors which are pedal operated for different adjustments

ATTENTION: for your safety, before moving the bed, make sure that the sections are brought level and that the height of the bed is raised to at least 55cm from the ground, in order to be able to manoeuvre the bed by pushing the foot board from a suitable height

The pedal has 3 positions: directional, free and braked.

By using your foot it is possible to operate the lever from its short side at the side of bed or

from its long part at the feet of the bed.

To be able to manoeuvre the bed easily and safely (to obtain a straight path) position the pedal on directional, bringing the lever upwards with your foot until the directional wheel locks in place, as shown in the illustration.

DIRECTIONAL POSITION (+45°)

To free the wheels, move the pedal to free, using your foot to bring the lever

to the neutral position (parallel to the ground), as shown in the illustration.

FREE POSITION (0°)

To simultaneously lock the 4 wheels, move the pedal to braked, using your foot to bring the lever downward until it locks, See illustration.

BRAKED POSITION (-45°)

8.4 REPLACEMENT BATTERY PACK

1. Open the battery cover, and take the battery out.

2. Disconnect the rechargeable battery pack then replace it by a new one. Put the battery back then arrange the connector in place well

8.5 INSTRUCTION FOR CHARGING AND CONNECTING

ATTENTION!

BEFORE USING CORRECT CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK

CONNECT THE POWER TOOL FOR AT LEAST 8 HOUR

If prompt displays on the LCD, please charge the scale with exclusive adaptor.

Locate adaptor plug on the rear side of indicator.The battery should be recharged at least every 3 months regardless if it is used or not. After a long period in storage, e.g. over 3 months, the battery should run a full cycle (charge/discharge) to allow it to restore to full capacity.

8.6 USE INDICATOR:

SET DATE AND TIME: Long press PRINT key for 3 seconds to enter the TIME SETTING mode.

EX: To input Dec 25, 2008, 8:00am.

Enter year: Using

Switch the scale on using the key . The instrument runs a self-test and displays the installed software version.

The display shows "0,00 kg" and the scale is ready for use.

Note: If the display does not show 0.0kg, press the key to reset the indication.

Standby Function.

From the weighing mode, press the STANDBY button before you add/remove one or more objects to/from the bed.

When the display shows "stdby", you can add or remove one or more objects.

Press the STANDBY button again to confirm the operation and return to the weighing mode.

The weight displayed before and after the operation will be the same.

In standby mode, when "----" is displayed it indicates a negative value.

By pressing the STANDBY button for 3 seconds, you can return to the weighing mode.

Weight Management function

Press the CW key for 3 seconds to set the weight control.

Inserting an upper limit.

Use the TARE key to decrease the value and the STANDBY key to move to the next digit.

Press the ON/ZERO/OFF button to confirm and move to the lower limit.

Insert a lower limit.

Use the TARE key to decrease the value and the STANDBY key to move to the next digit.

Press the CW key to confirm and return to weighing mode.

Use the CW button to activate/deactivate the weight control function.

Weight within limits

The LED on the limits symbol flashes.

Weight above or below the limits

The LED on the limits symbol lights up and a beep sounds.

TARE Function.

The tare function allows you to cancel the weight of objects or clothing in order to detect the actual weight (net) of the patient.

Switch the instrument on by pressing the key .

When the zero is displayed

When the weight is steady press the key

and the terminal emits a double beep, apply the object/clothes making up the tare load on the load receptor.

The weight indicator displays zero .

Position the patient to be weighed (without removing the tare weight). The weight displayed is the net weight of the patient.

To delete the cancelled tare weight, remove all the objects from the load receptor and press the key again

9. SETTING SETUP

Switch ON the scale and long press key for 3 seconds, first “SETUP” and then “A.OFF” will display successively.

When the instrument is turned on, press the button for three seconds . The display shows in sequence the "SETUP" and the first menu item "A.OFF".

AUTO-OFF TIME SETUP: This function allows you to set the sleep time (120 sec /180 sec /240 sec /300 sec /off)

BUZZER ON/OFF: This function allows you to set the beep sound (ON / OFF).

11. MAINTENANCE AND ASSISTANCE

For better and longer duration of the product it should receive thorough general cleaning periodically.

The instrument must be cleaned with a soft cloth moistened with water or neutral detergent, without using solvents or abrasive substances. If the instrument remains idle for a long period, remove the batteries from the terminal.

During shipping, make sure not to subject the instrument to blows or excessive mechanical stress.

Waste disposal

EU 2002/96/EC

This product complies with the EU Directive 2002/96/EC. The symbol of the crossed-out waste bin on the appliance indicates that the product, needing to be treated separately from household waste, at the end of its useful life must be completed in a separate collection facility for electric and electronic appliances or returned to the dealer upon purchase of a new equivalent appliance. The user is responsible for bringing the appliance to an appropriate collection structure at the end of its life. Appropriate separate collection and sending the appliance for recycling, treatment and environmentally compatible waste disposal contributes to avoid possible negative effects on the environment and health and favours the recycling of the materials the product is made of.

15. WARRANTY

This certificate must be kept until the warranty has expired.

It must be presented together with the invoice, tax receipt or delivery note providing the name of the dealer and date of purchase whenever a technical intervention is required. Otherwise the user will lose any warranty rights.

The warranty takes effect from the date of purchase and is valid during the entire period foreseen by the current catalogue/pricelist.

By warranty we mean the replacement or repair free of charge of parts making up the appliance which, at the discretion of the manufacturer, are deemed faulty from the origin; Wunder therefore has the faculty of repairing or replacing the item.

The warranty does not cover:

 shipping faults, damage caused by falls, carelessness or tampering

 damage caused by incapability of using the appliance and of its improper use

 damage caused by an insufficient or inadequate electrical system or alterations resulting from environmental, climatic or other types of conditions

 damage due to incorrect installation of the appliance and repairs carried out by unauthorised personnel

 Interventions at home for convenience controls or presumed defects

 Routine maintenance and that which can be considered normal wear from use

 consumables such as: power supplies, batteries, keyboards, plates, wheels, heads, rolls, load cells faulty due to blows or overloads

Service can also be refused when the appliance has been changed or transformed in any way.

In case of interventions at one's home, the customer must pay the fixed fee; if however the appliance is repaired at an authorised Wunder Service Centre, expenses and relative travel risk are borne by the user.

Wunder will not be held liable for damage of any nature caused directly or indirectly to persons, animals or objects resulting from failure to comply with all the instructions indicated in this manual or anyway resulting from improper use.

The Court of Bergamo has jurisdiction in case of any dispute
