Frequently asked questions

This manual describes the functions and operation of the cross assembler for the MN1030 Series microcomputers.

This system runs on the following workstations, personal computers and compatibles: Sun/Sparc, PC/AT and DOS/V.

The installation media for this system contain the following files: as103 (assembler), ld103 (linker), slib103 (library manager) and excv103 (file conversion utility).

The assembler and linker start by reading start-up files which contain statements for initializing start-up variables. The assembler start-up file (.as103rc) contains statements specifying the default language and character coding scheme for messages from the assembler, the radix notation used for numbers, and the default toggle switch setting for optimization. The linker start-up file (.ld103rc) contains statements specifying the language and character coding scheme for messages from the linker, a toggle controlling output of debugging information to the executable file, a toggle controlling output of the symbol table to the executable file, a toggle controlling output of DATA sections to the executable file, a toggle controlling output of a map file, a toggle controlling output of an executable file when there are errors, a library file, and a directory searching for a library file.

The O-OPTION keyword in the .as103rc start-up file controls optimization. Setting this to ON enables optimization and OFF disables optimization.
