This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state. 1 629162_INS_RchrgblBckUpBttry_Size:5”Wx4.75”H_Output:100%_Prints:1/1,Blk 14 One (1) Year Limited Warranty Brookstone warrants this product against defects in materials and/or workmanship under normal use for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of purchase by the original purchaser (“Warranty Period”). If a defect arises and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period, at its option, Brookstone will either 1) repair the defect at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, or 2) replace the product with a new product that is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or 3) provide a store credit in the amount of the purchase price of the original product. A replacement product or part, including a user-installable part installed in accordance with instructions provided by Brookstone, assumes the remaining warranty of the original product. When a product or part is exchanged, any replacement item becomes your property and the replaced item becomes Brookstone’s property. When a store credit is given, the original product must be returned to Brookstone and becomes Brookstone’s property. ® Obtaining Service: To obtain warranty service, call Brookstone Limited Warranty Service at 1-800-292-9819. Please be prepared to describe the product that needs service and the nature of the problem. A purchase receipt is required. All repairs and replacements must be authorized in advance. Service options, parts availability and response times will vary. You are responsible for delivery and the cost of delivery of the product or any parts to the authorized service center for replacement, per our instructions. Limits and Exclusions: Coverage under this Limited Warranty is limited to the United States of America, including the District of Columbia and the U.S. Territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This Limited Warranty applies only to products manufactured for Brookstone that can be identified by the “Brookstone” trademark, trade name, or logo affixed to them or their packaging. The Limited Warranty does not apply to any non-Brookstone products. The lightning flash with arrow-head symbol within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage” within the unit’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock. The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the unit. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS All the safety and operating instructions should be read, adhered to and followed before the unit is operated. Save these instructions 2 DANGER Troubleshooting (cont.) To reduce the risk of electric shock, burns, fire or injury: Problem 1. Do not use while bathing or in a shower. The Backup Battery will not operate but the power light is on (continued). The Backup Battery has overheated due to poor ventilation and shut down. Unplug all devices connected to the Backup Battery. Allow the Backup Battery to cool for 15 minutes. Move the Backup Battery to a cooler place, making sure nothing is covering its ventilation holes, and power up again by pressing the POWER button. Product will not charge, battery light is red for 10 seconds and then shuts off. Backup Battery is completely discharged. Recharge Backup Battery. Backup Battery will not charge, battery light is red. The input charging voltage is out of range (charger is defective). Replace the Backup Battery. Dispose of Backup Battery as you would a battery. Do not dispose of Backup Battery in household trash. 2. Do not place or store unit where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink. 3. Do not place in, drop or submerge in water or other liquid. 4. Do not reach for a unit that has fallen into water. Unplug it immediately. 5. C are should be taken so that objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled onto the unit. Possible Cause 6. Do not use the Backup Battery in ambient temperatures over 100° F (40° C). 7. Do not expose the Backup Battery to water, rain, snow, or spray. WARNING 1. K eep the Backup Battery out of reach of children and pets. Operate the unit with care! 2. Do not insert any object into the Backup Battery ports or openings. 3. T he Backup Battery housing may become warm and may reach 122° F (50° C) under extended high power operation. Use only the provided AC charger adapter to charge the Backup Battery. Problem Possible Cause Solution The Backup Battery will not operate and the power light is off. Product connected has a high startup surge. Product exceeds Backup Battery’s surge capability, do not use. Press POWER button to turn Backup Battery on. The Backup Battery will not operate but the power light is on. Unit is off. The Backup Battery has overheated and has automatically shut off. Unplug all devices connected to the Backup Battery. Allow the Backup Battery to cool for 15 minutes. Move the Backup Battery to a cooler place, making sure nothing is covering its ventilation holes, and power up again by pressing the POWER button. The products connected are rated at more than the Backup Battery’s continuous power rating. The USB protection fuse has tripped. (resets automatically) Unplug the product that is causing the overload. Wait 5 minutes to allow the fuse to cool down and auto reset. T he cells inside the Backup Battery contain toxic substances. Do not use the Backup Battery if the casing is broken or if it emits an unusual odor, produces excessive heat, or leaks. 6. Avoid contact with any substance that leaks from the Backup Battery. 7. D o not attempt to open the Backup Battery, there are no user serviceable parts inside. W hen the Backup Battery is fully charged, remove from the power source and press the POWER button. W hen the Backup Battery is on and in use, the internal battery capacity begins to drop. As it drops, the battery light will go from green (high capacity) to amber (low capacity) to red for 10 seconds before shutting off. This prevents the battery from being damaged by fully draining. At this time, turn off any items being charged and recharge the Backup Battery. 5. If the Backup Battery overheats for any reason, such as insufficient ventilation or a high temperature environment, the unit will automatically shut off. Unplug the Backup Battery from the power source and use another source with the correct input charge. This correct range is between 4.5 and 6.0 VDC. 8
