Anker 556 USB-C Hub (8-in-1, USB4) FAQ
We have summarized a list of frequently asked questions regarding the Anker Anker 556 USB-C
Hub (8-in-1, USB4) from our valued customers.
Q1: Will this hub work with any laptop? How do I make sure my laptop works with this
hub?
A: This hub works with laptops with a USB-C port that supports Thunderbolt 4, USB4 or
DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery. To confirm the USB-C port function of your laptop,
consult your user manual or contact your laptop’s manufacturer. If your USB-C port doesn’t
support DisplayPort Alt Mode, you won’t receive video output. If your USB-C port doesn’t
support Power Delivery, the dock will work correctly with video and data (including audio and
Ethernet), but would not be able to supply charging to your laptop.
Q2: Can I use my own USB-C cable to connect the dock to my laptop?
A: We recommend that you use the USB4 cable that comes with the hub. However any other
USB-C cable with support for USB4 and 100W Power Delivery should work.
Q3: Is the USB-C 10Gbps port capable of running a display or phone charging?
A: No. It only supports data transfer, and the maximum data transfer speed between this hub
and SSD/U Disk/Hard Disk is 10Gbps.
Q4: Is the USB-C PD port support display or phone charging?
A: No. It only supports laptop charging only when connecting an extra charger via this PD port.
And the maximum input watts 100W. Even though you connect a 140W charger, the hub only
supports 100W input. Due to the hub will consume 15W, the real charging watts for the laptop is
85W.
Q5: How many monitors does the hub support and what is the maximum resolution
supported?
A: This hub supports connection to two external monitors: 1 via HDMI and 1 via DisplayPort.
Simultaneously stream media to two monitors in stunning single 8K@30Hz via the DisplayPort
or HDMI, dual 4K@60Hz via the HDMI port and DisplayPort.
