YOUR SYSTEM MUST BE GROUNDED • Only connect the power plug to an outlet provided with a protective ground contact. • To reduce the risk of fire, use only the power cord supplied. • Do not use ground adaptors. • Do not use this product on a wet floor or near water. • In case of liquid spillage, disconnect the power cord from the outlet and proceed with cleaning. Compliance Energy Star compliance Office equipment is generally powered on 24 hours a day, so power management features are important for saving energy and reducing air pollution.Your Mailing System is an Energy Star® qualified Mailing System that automatically goes into a low-power 'Sleep' Mode after a period of inactivity. Spending a large portion of time in low-power mode not only saves energy but helps your equipment run cooler and last longer. 5 Read this First Before powering up your Mailing System, please check to ensure the system meets your local AC voltage requirements. For information on power specifications, please refer to the plates at the back of each System component. | Page 6 | | | Environmental compliance 1 Read this First Is Mailing Systems are eco-friendly designs that: • last longer, run cooler and use up to 50% less energy, • operate more efficiently, saving you time and money, • protect the environment with innovative product and packaging designs. In addition to minimizing our carbon footprint, Neopost Canada also recycles used Ink Cartridges and system components as they reach their end of life. For more details on our Eco-Partners Program please contact our Customer Care Centre or visit us at neopost.ca. General Safety • Before using your Mailing System, please read the operating instructions included. • To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury, follow standard safety precautions for office equipment when using your Mailing System. • To avoid damaging vital system components, only use Neopost/Canada Post approved supplies (ink, tape, cleaners...). • Follow the additional safety precautions below: • Do not place lit candles, cigarettes, cigars, etc. on the Mailing System. • When removing jammed material, avoid using excessive force to prevent personal injury and damaging any system components. • When lifting covers, wait for all parts to stop moving before placing your hands near the Feeder Path or Print Head. • To prevent overheating do not block the ventilation openings or try to stop the power supply fans. • Do not remove fastened covers as they protect users from potentially hazardous parts that should only be accessed by a Neopost Service Representative. Your Mailing System contains moving parts. Keep fingers, long hair, jewellery, neck ties, and loose clothing away from the mail path at all times. 6 | Page 7 | | Disconnecting your Mailing System 1 How to Disconnect your Mailing System 1. Your Mailing System connects to E-Services Server via the same telephone or network connection you use to add postage to your meter. All connections are secure, and data is maintained under strict privacy policies. 91 7 myEquipment E-Services E-services features include: • Ink Management: Our ink management feature maximizes the productivity of your mailing operation by taking the guess work out of managing and ordering ink supplies. Your Mailing System will send an automatic alert via e-mail back to Neopost when your Ink Cartridge is running out of ink. Once we receive the ink alert, our Customer Service Centre will place a courtesy call to inform you that your Ink Cartridge is almost out of ink. • Diagnostics: Each month your Mailing System will download performance information to Neopost to allow us to diagnose potential problems more efficiently over the phone. If we cannot solve the problem over the phone, we will know exactly what area of the system to focus on when we arrive on-site. Our ability to review your system's performance information optimizes the productivity of your Mailing System and reduces your down time. • Statistics: Each month you will be able to retrieve basic information about your Mailing activity to better manage your mailing expenditures and reduce your operating costs. This information can be printed on labels or exported into other software programs for review and analysis. • Messages on Demand: Neopost can send messages directly to your Mailing System console that will allow us to inform you when we plan to arrive, if there is a problem with your system, if we have a new program in place that will save you money, etc. All you have to do is open the message on your console when the message arrives. • Rate downloads: Neopost can download your Canada Post Rate updates directly into your Mailing System. Once your download is complete we can send a message to your Mailing System console informing you that your rate download has been completed. | Page 92 | | | 7.2 Connecting to E-Services Automated Calls Automated Calls To receive all of the benefits that E-Services offers, your Mailing System should be permanently connected to a live network connection (LAN) so that it can link to the E-Services Server automatically whenever required.
