PACE V5542 MODEM FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCESS
FIRST STEPS
• Use a Windows XP or Mac OS 10.1 or better powered computer with an ethernet port.
• Connect one ethernet (LAN) cable to LAN PORT 1 in modem and the other to the LAN port in your computer.
• Disable anti-virus, anti-malware and firewall software on the computer.
• Put the new firmware file entitled B41005-TNZ7-84710.bin in a directory in your computer where you can easily find it.
STEP 1
• Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari etc).
• In the address bar type 192.168.1.254 and press ENTER.
• This will take you to the modem User Interface (UI)
STEP 2
• Click on the ADMINISTRATOR tab in the top row.
• Then click the MANAGEMENT link in the Administration Section.
• Then click the UPDATE link.
STEP 3
• You will be prompted to enter the Administrator level Username and Password. The factory default values are admin / admin
• Click SUBMIT
STEP 4
• You will be presented with the current version of firmware installed in the modem.
• Click on BROWSE and navigate to the location where the new firmware B41005-TNZ7-
84710.bin
is located.
• When you have selected the file, cick OK
• Your modem take around 5 minutes to update and progress will be shown with a green bar.
• When finished you will be presented with the following screen
• Press OK to restart the modem
• Your modem will restart and take around 3 minutes to complete.
LAST STEP - FACTORY RESET
• When the firmware install is complete, perform a FACTORY RESET on the modem.
1. While the modem is turned on, insert a paper clip or pin into the Reset hole in the rear of the modem. Press down and hold until all lights on the front of the modem turn off, then release.
2. The modem will reset and then restart. When the Broadband and Internet lights are solid green you will have internet connectivity. This can take up to 5 minutes.
3. After a factory reset, you must manually reconnect each Wi-Fi device and redo any customisations , such as customising your WiFi SSID or password or changing your log in username and password.
• You can disconnect your LAN cable and connect via WiFi at this point.
DON’T FORGET TO RESTART YOUR ANTI-VIRUS / ANTI-MALWARE AND FIREWALL.
