Forcepoint DLP Deployment Guide

Forcepoint DLP protects organizations from data loss at the perimeter and inside, even in IaaS platforms. Forcepoint Data Discovery locates sensitive data on-premises and in supported cloud apps. Forcepoint DLP Network prevents data loss via email and web channels (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP). Forcepoint DLP Endpoint uses an agent to prevent data loss from endpoints like removable storage. Key components include the management server, protector (for monitoring/blocking traffic), and agents for extended functionality.

Frequently asked questions

The protector monitors and reports on web traffic and acts as an MTA to monitor, block, quarantine, and encrypt email traffic. It integrates with third-party proxies supporting ICAP for HTTP/S enforcement.

Options include a basic deployment with one management server and an analytics server, or a larger deployment with additional servers and agents for load balancing and increased capacity. Public cloud deployment (Azure and AWS) is also supported, in both full and hybrid models.

The protector can monitor and block email traffic (using explicit MTA mode for blocking). For monitoring only, it can connect to a SPAN or mirror port reflecting SMTP traffic.

Forcepoint Data Discovery can scan data on file servers, email servers, and databases, as well as in content collaboration applications such as Microsoft SharePoint and Box.
