The following notes provide a list of compatible USB and RS-232 human interface devices
for the Extron Annotator. For more information please call your Extron Application
Engineer.

TECH NOTES
USB Device Drivers – All USB drivers are embedded within the firmware of the Annotator
and no external configuration or selection is necessary. Calibration of the touch display is
necessary in order to align the Annotator cursor and the point of touch.
RS-232 Device Drivers – RS-232 drivers require use of the Windows Control Program to
load and configure which driver is to be implemented. In both cases, calibration of the
touch display is necessary in order to align the Annotator cursor and the point of touch.
RS-232 Touch Panel Connection – A NULL cable or adapter is required for any RS-232
touch device connection. Cable adapters can be tailored to specific lengths via the Extron
Custom Cables service.
USB Mice and Keyboards – The Annotator supports use of a standard keyboard and a
standard mouse. It does not support non-standard keyboards or mice, such as devices that
require additional drivers when connected to a PC.
Unsupported Devices – Connecting an unsupported device to the Annotator’s USB or RS232 port may cause adverse reactions. If the device you wish to use is not listed as a
supported model, please contact your Extron representative.
These lists are expected to grow as we confirm compatibility of additional devices. Please
contact your Extron Application Engineer with questions regarding compatibility with specific
device models.

interface devices found in Firmware Version 1.01.

Supported USB Extenders
KNOWN ISSUES
The following is a list of known issues with USB and RS-232 human interface devices found
in Firmware Version 1.01.
Unsupported USB Extenders – Specific USB extenders that have integrated hubs are not
yet supported. These devices require unique communication that is not yet supported.
- Gefen USB 200
Note: Many USB extenders have a USB hub within the product but only have a single
port on them. These extenders may also not be supported.
Icron USB Extenders – Icron USB extenders require power not available on all USB hubs.
Only one extender can be used in a system and it should be connected directly to one of the
Annotator USB ports.
