MSP430-PROGRAMMER SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
Note: This was written for step by step on Windows XP; some screens may appear different if you are
using another OS.
Before using your Olimex JTag Programmer for the first time you will need to upload new firmware files
provided by Stanley to the Programmer. This requires you to have the software installed.
Installing the Software:
Step 1: Download the software from the link below
Software: OLIMEX MSP430-PROGRAMMER
PROGRAMMER - GUI 1.3.0.4_CLI 2.0.1.2_DLL1.0.4.2/ 17.11.2011 freeware stand alone software which allows you to program MSP430 devices
Step 2:: After clicking on the link to d
download the software click open.
Step 3: Open MSPProg_Setup.exe

Step 4: “Extract all” files
Step 5: Click Next

Step 7: Make sure Show extracted files is checked then hit finish

Step 9: Click Run

Next you have to add the 3 dll and 1 ini files provided by Stanley into the Olimex directory and update
the firmware in the Olimex Jtag Programmer
Step 16:: Navigate back to the destination you picked in step 11 above

Step 17: Move the Stanley dll and ini files to the destination found in the step above ***NOTE: You will
get an error when moving these files if you have the MSP430 Programmer application open. If it is open
close it before moving the files to this location

Step 18: Depending on your operating system it may ask you if you would like to keep the old files and
rename the new files, you do NOT want tto keep the old files- picked the
e option that allows you to
replace the old files with the new Stanley files. – You would just click “Yes to All” in the screen shot
below:

Step 19: Download the drivers from the link below (also found on www.Olimex.com)
Drivers:
Windows drivers + MSP430-JTAG-ISO
ISO-MK2 firmware version 2.007
Step 20: Click Save
Step 21: In the drop down navigate to the destination you picked in step 11 and click Save

Step 22: Click open folder
Step 23:: Right click on the folder “OLIMEX_MSP430
“OLIMEX_MSP430-DLL_drivers.zip” and extract all.

Step 26:: Uncheck “Show extracted files” and click Finished
Step 27:: Navigate to the destination you picked in step 11 and find and open “USBXpressInstaller.exe”

Next you will need to update the firmware in your programmer
Step 29: If your Jtag Programmer is not already plugged in via USB then make that connection now.
NOTE: You will also want to have your programmer plugged into daughter card and the daughter should
be plugged into an EL Lockset. If these connections are not made yyou

Step 30:: “Hardware Wizard” Should pop up once you plug in your device; select yes

Step 31:: Select “Install the software from a list or specific location”” and then click Next

Step 33:: Browse to the file location of your drivers and click OK once you have the file selected

Step 35: Looking at your programmer screen make sure the arrow is pointing to “Debugger”
Step 36: Press the right arrow on the JTag Programmer and you will see a screen that looks similar to

Step 39:: Uncheck all “data memory” boxes and the one “READ” box next to “program memory” also

the new JTag device has the new firmware uploaded. --- Click OK
Now see “Programming Firmware iinto your EL Lock”
