Before operating your new appliance please read this instruction booklet carefully. It contains important information concerning the safe operation, installation and maintenance of the appliance. ! Please keep these operating instructions for future reference. Pass them on to possible new owners of the appliance. The following instructions are provided for qualified installers so that they may accomplish installation, adjustment and technical maintenance operations correctly and in compliance with current regulations and standards. Important: the appliance should be disconnected from the mains electricity supply before any adjustment, maintenance, etc. is carried out. Maximum caution should be used should it be necessary to keep the appliance connected to the electricity supply. The appliance has the following technical specifications: Class: 1 Positioning Electrical connection THE APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED The hob is designed to work with alternating current at the supply voltage and frequency indicated on the data plate (situated on the bottom part of the appliance or on the last page of the instruction booklet). Make sure that the local supply voltage corresponds to the voltage indicated on the data plate. The hob is not fitted with a power supply cable, as the cable should be sized according to the type of electrical connection in use (see connection diagram below). Use a H05VV-F rubber cable. Open the terminal board following the instructions on the diagram opposite: To install the power supply cable, proceed as follows: • Unscrew the wire clamp screw “V” and the contact screws. • Fasten the small cables beneath the screw heads according to the diagram below. 2 1 1 2 3 4 The dimensions of the appliance are given in the figure. For trouble-free operation of appliances installed in housing units, the minimum distances shown in figure should be observed. Adjacent surfaces and the wall at the rear should also be able to withstand an overheating temperature of 65 °C. On the lower part of the stove there are 4 adjustable feet with a screw which will allow you to level the stove when necessary. It is essential for the appliance to be level. Warping caused by bad positioning could alter the characteristics and performance of the appliance itself. 5 V • Fasten the supply cable in place with the clamp and close the cover of the terminal board. Connecting the supply cable to the mains Install a standardised plug corresponding to the load indicated on the data plate. When connecting the cable directly to the mains, install an omnipolar switch with a minimum contact opening of 3 mm between the appliance and the mains. The omnipolar switch should be sized according to the load and should comply with current regulations (the earth wire should not be interrupted by the switch). The supply cable must be in such a position that no part of it can reach a temperature of 50°C above room temperature. Before connecting to the power supply, make sure that: • The limiter valve and the domestic system can withstand the load from the appliance (see data plate); • The mains are properly earthed in compliance with current directives and regulations; • There is easy access to the socket and omnipolar switch, once the hob has been installed. 34 Electrical connection Power supply voltage Fuse 230V~50Hz 32* A Cross section 3x4 mm² 400V -2N~50Hz 32 A 4x4 mm² 400V 3+N~50Hz 25 A 5x2.5 mm² 230V -2~50Hz 32* A 3x4 mm² 230V -3~50Hz 25 A 4x2.5 mm² 230V -2+2N~50Hz 25* A 5x2.5 mm² * Application of the simultaneousness coefficient in accordance with norms. The oven heats up very quickly so the food to be cooked may be put into the oven as it is switched on. Cooking is also possible simultaneously on both shelves. 40 • Grill operation: a high heat output is used for grilling, so that the surface of the food is immediately browned; this is particularly indicated for meats which should remain tender on the inside. To grill, turn the selector knob to the position 0) Off 9) Fast defrosting uses no heating • The “fast defrosting“ function elements, just the oven light and the fan. (Grill), (Maxigrill), (Maxigrill + fan). During grilling, do not set the thermostat knob to over 200 °C and keep the oven door closed (not even in the minigrill mode). The oven light comes on automatically when the selector knob is turned to any of its positions. Indicator light It indicates that the oven is heating up. When the light goes out, the required temperature has been reached inside the oven. When the light alternately comes on and goes out, it means that the thermostat is working properly to maintain the oven temperature constant. Spit - Rotisserie This accessory is to be used exclusively when grilling food. Proceed as follows: insert the meat to be cooked along the length of the spit rod, securing it with the special adjustable forks. Introduce the supports “A” and “B” into the holes in the drip tray “E”, rest the rod groove on the seat “C” and insert the oven rack into the lowest guide of the oven; now insert the spit rod into the relative hole, moving the groove forward into seat “D”. Start the grill and the rotisserie by turning the thermostat knob to the position with the symbols. Cooling ventilation In order to cool down the temperature of their exterior, some models are fitted with a cooling fan that comes on when the programme selector knob is turned. In this case, the fan is always on and a normal flow of air can be heard exiting between the oven door and the control panel. Note: when cooking is done, the fan stays on, even if selector knob is set to 0, until the oven has cooled down sufficiently. In "Fast cooking" mode, the fan comes on automatically only when the oven is hot. Once you have removed the food from the oven, we recommend you leave the oven door ajar for a few minutes: this will drastically reduce the duration of the cooling cycle. The process is controlled by an additional thermostat and can consist of one or more cycles. GB 41 GB Cooking tips Cooking times may vary according to the nature of the foods, their homogeneity and their volume. When cooking a certain food for the first time, it is advisable to choose the lowest values in the cooking time range given in the table and then increase them if necessary. A blinking pan recognition indicator could signal: • that the pan is made of unsuitable material, which is not ferromagnetic, • that the diameter of the pan is too small, • that the pan has been removed. Always match the diameter of the pan with that of the cooking zones. ! For correct operation, switch off the hob using its control device and do not rely on the pan sensor. Warning: oval cooking zones Oval cooking zones can only be boosted if the full oval is enabled. Do not place two small saucepans on oval cooking zones. What cookware to use Given that induction only exists when the magnetic field is sealed by a metallic recipient, the pan stops being heated as soon as it is taken off the cooking zone. Use cookware made of material which is compatible with induction (ferromagnetic material). Cast iron, enamelled steel or special induction stainless steel saucepans are ideal. Copper, ceramic, earthenware, glass, terracotta, aluminium and non magnetic stainless steel cookware is incompatible with induction cooking. The easiest way to find out whether the pan is suitable is with a magnet. If the magnet is attracted by the pan bottom and stays “stuck” to the same, the pan is made of ferromagnetic material and can be used on your induction hob. We recommend you use pans with a very flat and thick bottom and avoid at all costs all cookware with irregular rough bases which could scratch the glass surface. SUITABLE * Cast iron Enamelled steel Special stainless steel UNSUITABLE Copper, Aluminium, Glass, Earthenware, Ceramic, non magnetic Stainless steel Anomalies such as: • an object (such as a saucepan or a lid, etc.) placed for more than 10 seconds on the control zone, • boiled-over liquids or food spilled on the control zone, • prolonged pressure on a key,...could cause a beep to sound and the hob to turn off. To stop the beep from sounding, remove the cause of the malfunction. To use the hob, turn it back on and re-select the cooking zone(s) you wish to use. Set the desired heating power. Safety cut out Your appliance is fitted with a safety cut out which intervenes after a certain amount of time (see table) depending on the power setting. When the safety cut out has intervened, the power display indicates “0”. for example: the back right cooking zone is set to 5 and the front left zone is set to 2. The back right zone will turn off after 4 hours of operation and the front left zone will turn off after 6 hours of operation. To unlock the controls, turn the hob off by pressing the key. Power level Maximum duration of operation 1-2 10 hours 3 5 hours 4 4 hours 5-6 3 hours 7-8 2 hours 9 1 hour Overheating protection device Should your appliance’s electronic components overheat, the hob will turn off automatically and “—” will come up on the power level display. The letter will disappear as soon as the temperature drops back down to an acceptable level. 45 GB Precautions and tips GB ! This appliance has been designed and manufactured in compliance with international safety standards. The following warnings are provided for safety reasons and must be read carefully. Practical advice on using the appliance To obtain the best results from your hob: • Use flat-bottomed pans to ensure that they adhere to the cooking zone perfectly. • Always use pans with a diameter that is large enough to cover the hotplate fully, in order to use all the available heat. • Make sure that the bottom of the cookware is always dry and clean to guarantee correct adherence and durability, not only for the cooking zones but also for the cookware itself. • Avoid using the same cookware that is used on gas burners: the heat concentration on gas burners may have warped the base of the pan, causing it not to adhere to the surface correctly. • Never leave a cooking zone on without cookware placed on it because it heats up and rapidly reaches the maximum level, which could damage the heating elements. General safety • The appliance was designed for domestic use inside the home and is not intended for commercial or industrial use. • The appliance must not be installed outdoors, even in covered areas. It is extremely dangerous to leave the appliance exposed to rain and storms. • Do not touch the appliance with bare feet or with wet or damp hands and feet. • The appliance must be used by adults only for the preparation of food, in accordance with the instructions provided in this booklet. Do not use the hob as a worktop or chopping board. 46 • The glass ceramic hob is resistant to mechanical shocks, but it may crack (or even break) if hit with a sharp object such as a tool. If this happens, disconnect the appliance from the electricity mains immediately and contact a Service Centre. • If the surface of the hob is cracked, switch off the appliance to prevent electric shocks from occurring. • Ensure that power supply cables of other electrical appliances do not come into contact with the hot parts of the hob. • Remember that the cooking zones remain relatively hot for at least thirty minutes after they have been switched off. An indicator light provides a warning when residual heat is present (see Start-up and use). • Keep any object which could melt away from the hob, for example plastic and aluminium objects, or products with a high sugar content. Be especially careful when using plastic film and aluminium foil or packaging: if placed on surfaces that are still hot, they may cause serious damage to the hob. • Always make sure that pan handles are turned towards the centre of the hob in order to avoid accidental burns. • When unplugging the appliance, always pull the plug from the mains socket; do not pull on the cable. • Never perform any cleaning or maintenance work without having disconnected the appliance from the electricity mains. • Do not place metal objects (knives, spoons, pan lids, etc.) on the hob as they may become hot. • For the attention of wearers of pacemakers or other active implants: The hob complies with all current standards on electromagnetic interference. Your induction hob is therefore perfectly in keeping with legal requirements (89/336/CEE directives). It is designed not to create interference on any other electrical apparatus being used on condition that the apparatus in question also complies with this legislation. Your induction hob generates short-range magnetic fields. To avoid any interference between your induction hob and a pacemaker, the latter must be designed to comply with relevant regulations. In this respect, we can only guarantee our own product conformity. Please consult the pacemaker manufacturer or your doctor concerning its conformity or any possible incompatibility. Care and maintenance Switching the appliance off Disconnect your appliance from the electricity supply before carrying out any work on it. Cleaning the appliance ! Do not use abrasive or corrosive detergents (for example, products in spray cans for cleaning barbecues and ovens), stain removers, anti-rust products, powder detergents or sponges with abrasive surfaces: these may scratch the surface beyond repair. ! Never use steam cleaners or pressure cleaners on the appliance. Inside the oven door: When cleaning the appliance, do not use rough or abrasive material or sharp metal scrapers to clean the glass doors of the oven, as these may scratch the surface and cause the glass to break. Inside the oven * • The inside of your oven is coated with a special selfcleaning microporous enamel glaze which, at a normal cooking temperature of between 200 and 300°C, oxidises and completely eliminates all grease spots or other substances that inevitably attack the inner walls of the oven. This way, cleaning is kept right down to a minimum: as a matter of fact, you just need to rub the surfaces of the oven with a wet cloth regularly, after cooking, to remove the thin layer of ash that may have been deposited during cooking, in order to maintain the self-cleaning property of the oven intact. • After cooking where liquid has overflowed or when the dirt has not been eliminated completely (for example when grilling food, and the temperatures reached are not high enough for the full selfcleaning action of the enamel to be performed), we recommend you leave the oven on at maximum temperature so that all grease residue and the like are eliminated. • If, after long-term use, you find evident grease stains deposited on the self-cleaning oven walls, probably due to your failing to follow the above maintenance advice, clean the surfaces thoroughly with hot water and a soft cloth (do not use any detergents), then rinse and dry thoroughly. • Do not remove any dry caked-on grease using sharp objects, as these could etch the self-cleaning coating. • If the self-cleaning surfaces inside the oven are damaged or worn, due to incorrect or poor maintenance or after many years of use, you can request a kit of self-cleaning panels to line the inside of the oven. To order these, just contact an authorised Service Centre. GB Oven exterior: • Only clean the appliance when the oven is cold. • The steel parts and especially the areas with the screen-printed symbols should not be cleaned with solvents or abrasive detergents. It is advisable to use only a damp cloth with lukewarm water and washing up liquid. Stainless steel may remain stained if in long-term contact with very calcareous water or aggressive detergents (containing phosphorus). It is therefore always necessary to rinse and dry all surfaces thoroughly after cleaning. Important: cleaning operations must be made horizontally, in the direction of the steel glazing. • After cleaning, any treatments to polish the surfaces may be performed: only use specific products for stainless steel. Important: do not use abrasive powders, aggressive detergents or acidic substances for cleaning. Hob: • The removable parts of the burners on the hob should be washed frequently with warm water and soap, making sure to remove any caked-on substances. Check that the gas outlet slits are not clogged. Dry the burners carefully before using them again. • Clean the end part of the automatic glow plug ignitors of the hob and gas oven frequently. * Only available on certain models. 47 07/2008 - 195053250.04 XEROX BUSINESS SERVICES GB Greasing the taps To make it easier to clean the inside of your oven, the oven door can be removed, by proceeding as follows: As time passes, a tap may lock or become difficult to turn. In this case it will be necessary to clean inside and replace the grease. This procedure must be performed by a technician authorized by the manufacturer. Changing the oven lightbulb • Open the door completely and lift the 2 levers “B”; • Now, shutting the door slightly, you can lift it out by pulling out the hooks “A” as shown. To reassemble the door: • With the door in a vertical position, insert the two hooks “A” into the slots; • Ensure that seat “D” is hooked perfectly onto the edge of the slot (move the oven door backwards and forward slightly); • Keep the oven door open fully, unhook the 2 levers “B” downwards and then shut the door again. 48 Make sure that the appliance is disconnected from the electricity supply. Unscrew the glass protective cover from inside the oven, unscrew the lightbulb and replace it with an identical one suitable for high temperatures (300°C) and with the following characteristics: - Voltage 230 V - Wattage 15 W - Type E 14.
