Keep this manual for future reference. 2 Important Safety Instructions: Important Safety Instructions: Important: Read these instructions thoroughly before using. Important: Read these instructions thoroughly before using. DANGER – To reduce the risk of electric shock, serious injury or death: • Do not allow electrical cord to be pinched between moving parts or between the frame and the floor. Do not place cord under carpet or in location where it could become worn. • Disconnect the electrical plug from outlet before cleaning, moving, servicing or when not in use for an extended period of time. • Connect this furnishing to a properly grounded outlet only, as indicated by the illuminated green light (see Table of Contents, Console Grounding Instructions). • Do not use this product if it is wet, in water, around water or any liquid. Do not handle the plug or remote control with wet hands. • This product must be grounded. If it should malfunction or break down, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electrical current to reduce the risk of electrical shock. This product is equiped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. • To prevent suffocation keep plastic bags away from children. • Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the product - if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. • Plug directly into a wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord, adapter or surge protector. • Keep cord out of reach of small children, and do not use where it may be a trip hazard. • Do not insert into the outlet anything other than a securely fitting plug from a properly operating device designed for 110-volt electricity. If a plug will not fit completely into the outlet, do not force it in and instead unplug the device. Use extreme caution with liquids near the outlets. In case of spills into the outlets, immediately unplug the unit and consult an electrician. WARNING – To reduce the risk of electric shock or serious injury: • Always keep open flame and lit cigarettes away from upholstered furniture. Upholstered furniture may burn rapidly with toxic gas and thick smoke. • Closely supervise children and disabled persons using this product. • Do not use this product if it is damaged. Do not use attachments or substitute parts. • This product is intended for indoor residential use only. • Check the condition of the electrical cord and plug monthly. Keep the electrical cord away from heat sources. Never operate the unit with a damaged electrical cord or plug. Contact your La-Z-Boy® dealer for service. • This product is not intended for use as a health care device. • This product is for use on a nominal 110-volt circuit and has a grounding plug that looks like the plug illustrated in the Grounding Instructions (see Table of Contents, Console Grounding Instructions). Make sure that the product is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No adapter should be used with this product. • Unplug the power cord immediately if you detect strange odors or fumes coming from the unit. • Do not attempt to disconnect the power plug by pulling the power cord. Always hold the power plug and pull it out. • Electrical outlets in the console are intended for use with small office devices only. • If you give this product to someone else, include this Operating Instructions manual. NOTICE – To reduce the risk of product damage: • To prevent damage to the power transformer, do not plug in until instructed. • Do not move the units while connected together. The purpose of the bracket system is to connect the units and prevent them from being separated while on the floor. The bracket system does not provide adequate structural support for the movement of connected units. • Units contain cup holders. Take care to prevent spilling of beverages, which could result in damage to cover. • Surge suppression is not available on USB charging ports. • Unplug devices from the unit if a power failure occurs. Devices may be plugged in after power is restored. • Do not use this product where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered. • Do not attempt to disassemble or service the product; no serviceable parts are inside. Contact your La-Z-Boy ® dealer for service. Save These Instructions 3 Save These Instructions 4 Console Assembly Instructions NOTICE: Do not plug in until instructed. Console Assembly Instructions FIGURE 1 The power console has one rear side mount bracket and one front side mount “U” bracket on the right side (sitting), and two threaded studs on the left side (sitting), (FIGURE 1). 1. Use a T-30 torx driver to loosen the threaded studs to approximately 1"; this measurement may vary depending on the fabric and style (FIGURE 2). 2. To start, place the units to be attached next to each other, about 2" apart. Position the unit with the threaded studs slightly behind the unit with the attachment brackets. Separate the fronts of the units to be connected, about 6" apart. Slide the rear of the unit with the threaded studs toward the unit with the attachment brackets, aligning the threaded studs to the rear bracket. Pull the unit with the threaded studs forward to engage the rear bracket. WARNING Rear Side Mount Bracket Threaded Stud – To reduce the risk of injury: • The front of the unit must be raised to engage the front bracket. Please seek assistance if you are unable to lift at least 57 pounds. • Keep feet clear of the unit when lowering it into position. Front Side Mount “U” Bracket NOTICE: To reduce the risk of product damage: • Lift from the base rail. Do not lift from the upholstery or the bottom of the legrest. 3. Lift the front of the unit with the threaded stud approximately 3" off the ground, aligning it to the unit with the attachment bracket. Gently lower the threaded stud into the front attachment bracket (FIGURE 3). Keep feet clear of the unit when lowering it into position. Note: Due to variations in upholstery and style, the threaded stud length may need to be adjusted to fit into the attachment brackets or control gaps between units. Loosen or tighten the threaded studs to provide adequate clearance. 4. Continue connecting the modular units until all have been securely joined. NOTICE: To reduce the risk of product damage: FIGURE 2 Front Side Mount “U” Bracket • Do not move the units while connected together. The purpose of the bracket system is to connect the units and prevent them from being separated while on the floor. The bracket system does not provide adequate structural support for the movement of connected units. 5. All modular units must be disconnected to safely move the modular group. To disconnect the units, lift up the left side (sitting) modular unit (with threaded studs) approximately 3" to clear the front attachment bracket, move the front of the unit over and return it to the floor. Slide the unit with the threaded studs backward to disengage the rear bracket. 5 FIGURE 3 Threaded Stud 6 Console Grounding Instructions DANGER – To reduce the risk of electric shock, serious injury or death: • Plug directly into a wall outlet. NOTICE: To reduce the risk of product damage – • Surge suppression is not available on USB charging ports. 1. Consoles with the Power Bundle Option include a black molded storage compartment, one or two lighted cup holders, two electrical outlets and two USB charging ports. The storage console also includes a drawer. 2. Lift the padded flip top to access the storage compartment, electrical outlets and USB charging ports. 3. The red light indicates the internal surge suppression is functional. The green light indicates the unit is grounded. Do not use the electrical outlets or USB charging ports unless both lights are illuminated. (See Console Troubleshooting Instructions.) 4. Plug in small office devices to the electrical outlets and USB charging ports. Note: USB ports are for charging only and do not have data transferring capabilities. Built-in 720 Joules Surge Suppression Charging Only Surge Ground Electrical Outlets 7 Charging USB Ports 8 Console Troubleshooting Cup Holder Operating and Cleaning Instructions Operating and Cleaning Instructions for the LED Lighted Cup Holder WARNING – To reduce the risk of serious injury: Lightly touch the indented circle on the inside of the cup holder with your finger to turn the cup holder light on and off. No pressure is necessary to operate the cup holder light. • Do not attempt to disassemble or service the product; no serviceable parts are inside. Contact your La-Z-Boy® dealer for service. The finish on the cup holder can be damaged during use or cleaning. It is recommended that a coaster be used to reduce the chance for damage, and that the cleaning instructions be followed. • Check the condition of the electrical cord and plug monthly. Keep the electrical cord away from heat sources. Never operate the unit with a damaged electrical cord or plug. Contact your La-Z-Boy® dealer for service. Use water and mild soap, such as dish soap, to clean the cup holders. Dry immediately and thoroughly with a soft clean cloth to maintain the finish. Do not use harsh, abrasive cleaners on this product. Troubleshooting Power Bundle Console There are no user maintenance or repair requirements. If the indicator lights are not illuminated, or the electrical outlets or USB charging ports do not work: 1. Make sure the console is plugged into a grounded electrical outlet. 2. Make sure the electrical outlet is working. For example, make sure there are no blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers. 3. Make sure the electrical cord is not crimped or pinched. Make sure the electrical cord or plug is not damaged. If the indicator lights still are not illuminated, or the electrical outlets or USB charging ports still do not operate properly, contact your La-Z-Boy® dealer for service.
