SEA CCT 440 Installation manual
Below you will find brief information for CCT 440, CCT 441, CCT 442. This temperature controller is used for monitoring transformer temperatures. It offers features like alarms, trip, and fan controls based on Pt100 sensors. The CCT 441 includes an RS485 interface for communication. The CCT 442 model provides a galvanically isolated 4-20mA or 0-20mA output.

If the shield is included, the connection cables and probes shield must be grounded. PRESCRIPTIONS 1. The signal cables must be separated from the power cables (minimum 1 meter) 2. The signal cables must be placed in specific cable racks 3. The signal cables section must not be less than 1 mm2 4. All the connections to the terminal boards must be properly fixed 5. The connections must be installed in places properly protected against electromagnetic frequency interferences such as those resulting from the inverters or similar equipment. The probe cables are compensating, therefore the probes have three conductors. Connect 31 Page 7 of 25 ENGLISH respecting the connection schematic, see connection schematic in chapter 5 7 DESCRIPTION ACTIONS INTERVENTION It is an alarm signal, indicating when a critical status is reached for the functioning of the controlled equipment. - The FAN relay energizes - The related FAN led switches on - When the temperature of a channel is higher than the limit of the threshold parameter "H" - When the temperature of a channel has exceeded the limit of the threshold parameter "H" and isn't lower than the limit of the threshold parameter "L" - To avoid the binding of the blowers bearings when the control parameter "C" is set on value 1 or 2 - As a precaution, in case of one or more damaged probes FAULT ACTIONS This is an anomaly of the temperature detection system due to the power unit, the probes or the connections. The FAULT signal is not switched off automatically because even if the channel is acknowledged within the parameters, this does not imply the problem has been solved. - The FAULT relay energizes - The related FAULT led flashes Quick flashing: display of damaged channel Slow flashing: signals that at least one currently not displayed probe is damaged. By placing on the related damaged channel, 32 Page 8 of 25 INTERVENTION - on the screen there can be the flashing indication n ICF or n SCF, where n indicates the number of the damaged channel. In case a temperature is displayed, it means that the channel has previously experienced abnormal travels (see INTERVENTION section). By scrolling with the keys, it is possible to observe the status of the other channels. Lack of supply voltage to the power unit Breakdown in the power unit Breakdown or anomaly in the thermometer probes (see table 1) The value of the read temperature is higher than 200°C Interrupted probe The value of the read temperature is lower than -10°C Short circuit probe Unreliable reading: The value of the read temperature is highly variable through a dynamic which is not compatible with the dynamic of the equipment to control. There could be some micro-interruptions of the signal or some short-term short circuits. The measurement signal could be disturbed. In this case, a value that the power unit infers starting from the inlet signal appears on the monitor of the power unit. The indication of the channel deemed damaged will not be assessed for the device protection purposes. By scrolling with the keys, it is possible to observe the status of the other channels. CCT 442 In case of fault of the active probes, the output 4-20mA or 0-20mA is switched off at zero 33 Page 9 of 25 CONSEQUENCES whatever the chosen configuration. Unreliability of the equipment. Immediately control the system and the transformer In order to acknowledge the FAULT signal, press at the same time for 5 seconds the keys AUTO/MANUAL/SCAN and ARROW UP. (In the panel, the two keys are connected by the graphic RESET sign) Check: - the arrangement of the probe cables - the presence of inverters - that the connections to the junction boxes are adequate ALARM DESCRIPTION ACTIONS INTERVENTION CONSEQUENCES This is the alarm signal which indicates when a critical status is reached for the functioning of the controlled equipment. - The ALARM relay energizes - The related ALARM led switches on - Exceeding the alarm temperature "A". The value of the measured temperature is higher than the temperature set for the alarm. - Breakdown or anomaly to the thermometer probes (see table no. 1 "relay interventions") Immediately control the probes and the transformer 34 Page 10 of 25 INTERVENTION CONSEQUENCES It signals when an extreme status is reached for the functioning of the controlled equipment. The equipment is immediately put out of service. - The TRIP relay energizes - The related TRIP led switches on - Exceeding the trip temperature "t”. The value of the measured temperature is higher than the temperature set for the trip. - Breakdown or anomaly to the thermometer probes (see table no. 1 "relay interventions") - The trip signal switches on continuously until the temperature read on at least one channel is higher than the trip temperature. In case of damaged probes, the status remains the same. - The equipment is immediately put out of service. The anomalies are displayed as follows: on the CHANNEL screen there is the channel number, on the TEMPERATURE screen there is the type of anomaly, "SCF", "ICF", "dEr". The next indication refers to the number of times the anomaly has been detected. The anomalies displays have the following meanings: “SCF", short circuit probe or temperature permanently lower than -10°C "ICF" interrupted probe or temperature permanently higher than 200°C "dEr" probes which has, or had in the past, travels incompatible with the thermal inertia of the transformer to protect 9 + CCT 440, CCT 441 and CCT 442 programming POWER UNIT RESET DESCRIPTION Maintain pressed the 4 inlet keys for 5 seconds until all the front signals switch on. The warranty is considered valid until it is sure that the cause of a failure are due to production defects or wrong calibration of the probes. We are not responsible for failures due to a wrong wiring of the probes, tampering with the power unit or wrong supply voltage (for ex. 400 Volt AC). 13 Warning Do not carry out dielectric strength or partial discharges tests on the electric machines with the power unit inserted. Do not directly connect the power unit to the secondary winding of the transformer to protect. Without protection, when closing the switch placed downstream of the transformer, there could be over voltages that can damage the device. The problem may occur frequently when the supply voltage of the power unit is 230 V and if there are power factor correction capacitors.
