TPD_DynamicStoragePoolInstDeletion

The 3PAR CIM Server currently supports indication subscriptions for deletion of DynamicStoragePool.

Clients must send the following query string to the HP 3PAR CIM Server:

SELECT * FROM CIM_InstDeletion WHERE SourceInstance ISA CIM_StoragePool

TPD_DynamicStoragePoolInstModification

The 3PAR CIM Server currently supports indication subscriptions for changes in the

RemainingManagedSpace of DynamicStoragePool. Clients can send any of the following query strings to the HP 3PAR CIM Server:

SELECT * FROM CIM_InstModification WHERE SourceInstance ISA TPD_DynamicStoragePool

AND SourceInstance.CTPD_DynamicStoragePoolRemainingManagedSpace <>

PreviousInstance.TPD_DynamicStoragePoolRemainingManagedSpace

Fibre Channel Ports

The 3PAR CIM Server currently supports indication subscriptions for changes in the operational status of Fibre Channel ports. Clients can send any of the following query string to the HP 3PAR

CIM Server:

SELECT * FROM CIM_InstModification WHERE SourceInstance ISA CIM_FCPort

SELECT * FROM CIM_InstModification WHERE SourceInstance ISA CIM_FCPort AND

SourceInstance.CIM_FCPort::OperationalStatus <>

PreviousInstance.CIM_FCPort::OperationalStatus

Job Control for Copy Services

The 3PAR CIM Server supports indication subscriptions for changes in the operational status of a concrete job related to Copy Services. Clients can send one of the following query string to the

HP 3PAR CIM Server:

SELECT * FROM CIM_InstModification WHERE SourceInstance ISA CIM_ConcreteJob

SELECT * FROM CIM_InstModification WHERE SourceInstance ISA CIM_ConcreteJob AND

SourceInstance.CIM_ConcreteJob::OperationalStatus <>

PreviousInstance.CIM_ConcreteJob::OperationalStatus

AlertIndication

Thin Provisioning

The CIM Server supports indication subscriptions for various thin provisioning related alert indications. Clients may send the following query string to the 3PAR CIM Server to receive all of them:

SELECT * FROM CIM_AlertIndication

154 CIM Indications

Or they can send any of the following to choose the specific indication(s) they want to receive:

SELECT * FROM TPD_StoragePoolGrowWarningAlert

SELECT * FROM TPD_StoragePoolGrowLimitAlert

SELECT * FROM TPD_StoragePoolGrowFailureAlert

SELECT * FROM TPD_StoragePoolOverUsedWarningAlert

SELECT * FROM TPD_StorageVolumeAllocationFailureAlert

SELECT * FROM TPD_StorageVolumeAllocationWarningAlert

SELECT * FROM TPD_StorageVolumeAllocationLimitAlert

SELECT * FROM TPD_DeltaReplicaStoragePoolGrowWarningAlert

SELECT * FROM TPD_DeltaReplicaStoragePoolGrowFailureAlert

SELECT * FROM TPD_StoragePoolCapacityClearAlert

SELECT * FROM TPD_StorageVolumeCapacityClearAlert

SELECT * FROM TPD_DeltaReplicaStoragePoolCapacityClearAlert

Generic AlertIndications

All other kinds of 3PAR alerts that are not part of the Thin Provisioning alert indications as discussed in AlertIndication will be converted by the provider to generic AlertIndications. Clients may send the following query string to the 3PAR CIM Server to receive all of them:

SELECT * FROM TPD_AlertIndication

AlertingManaged

AlertingElementFormat uint16

OtherAlerting

-ElementFormat

AlertType string uint16

Description Value

The identifying information of the entity (ie, the instance) for which this Indication is generated.

Proprietary format, e.g., an alert from cage 0 may contain the string

“hw_cage:0”

The format of the AlertingManagedElement property is interpretable based upon the value of this property. Values are defined as: 0 -

Unknown. The format is unknown or not meaningfully nterpretable by a CIM client application. 1 - Other. The format is defined by the value of the

OtherAlertingElementFormat property. 2 -

CIMObjectPath. The format is a

CIMObjectPath, with format

<Namespacepath>: <classname>.

<Prop1>=<value>,

<Prop2>=<value2>....specifying an instance in the CIM Schema.

Set to ‘other’, as format will be proprietary. See

‘OtherAlertingElementFormat’.

A string defining “Other” values for

AlertingElementFormat.

“HP 3PAR proprietary format.”

Primary classification of the Indication. The following values are defined:

1 - Other. The Indication's OtherAlertType property conveys its classification. Use of

“Other” in an enumeration is a standard CIM convention. It means that the current

Indication does not fit into the categories described by this enumeration.

2 - Communications Alert. An Indication of this type is principally associated with the procedures and/or processes required to convey information from one point to another.

”Set to ‘other’, as type will be proprietary. See ‘OtherAlertType’.

Description

3 - Quality of Service Alert. An Indication of this type is principally associated with a degradation or errors in the performance or function of an entity.

4 - Processing Error. An Indication of this type is principally associated with a software or processing fault.

5 - Device Alert. An Indication of this type is principally associated with an equipment or hardware fault.

6 - Environmental Alert. An Indication of this type is principally associated with a condition relating to an enclosure in which the hardware resides, or other environmental considerations.

7 - Model Change. The Indication addresses changes in the Information Model. For example, it may embed a Lifecycle Indication to convey the specific model change being alerted.

8 - Security Alert. An Indication of this type is associated with security violations, detection of viruses, and similar issues.

Value

A string describing the Alert type - used when the AlertType property is set to 1.

Set to 3PAR alert type string, e.g.,

“Component state change”.

An enumerated value that describes the severity of the Indication.

3PAR Alert Severity – PerceivedSeverity

•

FATAL – Fatal (7)

• CRITICAL – Critical (6)

• MAJOR – Major (5)

• MINOR – Minor (4)

• DEGRADED – Degraded (3)

•

INFORMATIONAL – Informational (2)

•

DEBUG – Other (1)

Holds the value of the user defined severity value when ‘PerceivedSeverity' is 1 (“Other”).

If PerceivedSeverity is ‘Other’, then this contains the string value “Debug”.

Otherwise this is NULL.

System WWN

List of IndicationIdentifiers whose notifications are correlated with this one.

NULL

A string that uniquely identifies the entity that owns the definition of the format of the

Message described in this instance.

“SNIA”

A string that uniquely identifies, within the scope of the OwningEntity, the format of the

Message.

An array containing the dynamic content of the message.

NULL

The formatted message. This message is constructed by applying the dynamic content of the message, described in

MessageArguments, to the format string

Alert description string, e.g., “Cage 0

Degraded (Firmware CPU Old)”

Please consult the Alerts chapter of the

“HP 3PAR OS Troubleshooting Guide”.

State Change Alerts

State Change alert indicates that the state of a previous alert has changed state. This kind of indication is actually mapped from a 3PAR State Change event; CorrelatedIndications field can be used to identify which AlertIndication has change state.
