UNPACKING

This product requires assembly.

Carefully remove the product and any accessories from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are included.

Inspect the tool carefully to make sure that no breakage or damage occurred during shipping.

Do not discard the packing material until you have carefully inspected and satisfactorily operated the tool.
◾
If any parts are damaged or missing, please return the product to the place of purchase.
ADJUSTING THE BLADE
When the hedge trimmer is removed from the package, it is folded in its storage position with the blade against the shaft (Fig. 2). Adjust the blade to a suitable working position before attaching it to the power head.

There are 12 possible working positions
(Fig. 3). The angle of the blade can be adjusted upwards to any of 5 positions, from 0 (straight) to 45, and downwards to any of 7 positions, from 0 to 90 (right angle facing down).

1. While pressing the release trigger, rotate the adjusting lever to adjust the blade to the desired cutting position (Fig. 4).
2. Once the desired position has been reached, release the release-trigger.
An audible click indicates that the locking pin is engaged in the locking plate (Fig. 4).

WARNING!
To reduce the risk of injury, remove the battery before making adjustments and make adjustments only when the blades are at a standstill. Never touch the blades while making adjustments.
WARNING! To reduce the risk of injury, always stop the tool, remove the battery, and cover the blade with the blade guard before moving the blade to the storage position or from the storage position to the normal working position.
CONNECTING THE HEDGE TRIMMER ATTACHMENT TO THE POWER
HEAD
This hedge trimmer attachment is designed for use with EGO Power Head
PH1400. The hedge trimmer may be attached in either the top-cutting or the side-cutting position (Fig. 5). For detailed working techniques, please see
“ WORKING TECHNIQUES ” section in this manual.

Top-Cutting Position
Side–Cutting Position The hedge trimmer attachment connects to the power head by means of a coupler device.
1. Stop the motor and remove the battery pack.
2. Loosen the wing knob.

3. Remove the end cap from the hedge trimmer attachment and place it in a safe place for later use. Align the arrow on the hedge trimmer shaft with the arrow on the coupler (Fig. 6a) and push the hedge trimmer shaft into the coupler until you hear a clear “click” sound. The coupler should be positioned all the way to the
RED LINE labeled on the shaft that the hedge trimmer shaft is properly mounted into place (Fig. 6b).
4. Pull on the shaft of the hedge trimmer to verify that it is securely locked into the coupler. If not, rotate the hedge trimmer shaft from side to side in the coupler until it snaps into place.
5. Tighten the wing knob securely.
WARNING!
Be certain the wing knob is fully tightened before operating the tool and check it periodically for tightness during use to avoid serious personal injury.
