Advanced Features

Configure features on your device that make it easier to use.

S Pen Settings

Configure options and settings for the S Pen.

1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >   Settings .

2. Tap Advanced features > S Pen to configure the following settings:

General

•

Air command : Configure the Air command

menu. For more information, see “Air Command

Settings” on page  41

.

•

Air view : Turn Air view on or off. Select options for Air view and customize.

•

Direct pen input : Turn the Direct pen input feature on or off. This feature allows you to switch from the keyboard to the S Pen when filling in form fields.

Pointer : Turn the pointer on or off. The pointer appears on the screen when the tip of the S Pen is hovering close enough. Holding the pointer over some features can reveal what an item is or what it does.

Pen detachment

•

Detachment options : Choose what should happen when you detach the S Pen. Choose Air command , Create note , or None .

•

Screen off memo : Create notes by detaching the S Pen while the screen is turned off and then writing on the screen. Screen off notes will be saved in Samsung Notes.

•

S Pen alerts : Set your phone to sound an alert and show a popup when walk away without attaching the S Pen.

Advanced Features

•

S Pen power saver : Save battery power by turning off detection of the S Pen while it is attached.

Feedback

•

S Pen sound : Select a sound for the device to make when the S Pen is detached from the device.

•

S Pen vibration : Activate vibration feedback when the S Pen is attached and detached.

Smart Stay

Smart stay detects your face with the front camera so that the screen stays on while you are looking at it.

1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >   Settings .

2. Tap Advanced features > Smart stay , and tap

On/Off to turn the feature on.

Manage Game Features

Manage useful features while you play games.

1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >   Settings .

2. Tap Advanced features > Games .

3. Tap On/Off to enable or disable the following:

•

Game launcher : Automatically arranges all your games in one place.

•

Game tools : When enabled, a button floating over top of your game provides convenient game features, such as No alerts during game,

Lock the Recent and Back keys, Minimize game,

Screenshot, and Record. Game tools can also access your Contacts, Storage, Microphone, and

Camera.

One-Handed Operation

Change the screen layout to accommodate operating your device with one hand.

1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >   Settings .

2. Tap Advanced features > One-handed operation .

3. Tap On/Off to enable or disable the following:

•

Reduce screen size : Press the Home key three times in quick succession to reduce the size of the display.

•

One-handed input : Adjust the size and position of the keyboard and other input methods for easier input with one hand.

Other Features

Configure other useful features. For example, you can control certain device actions by picking up the device and by touching the screen with the palm of your hand or turning over the device.

1. From a Home screen, tap Apps >   Settings .

2. Tap Advanced features .

3. Tap On/Off to enable each of the following:

•

Quick launch camera : Open the Camera by quickly pressing the Home key twice.

•

Pop-up view gesture : View an app in pop‑up view by swiping downwards diagonally from either corner at the top of the screen while the app is open and shown on the screen.

•

Smart capture : Capture an image of any scrollable areas of the screen that are currently hidden, as well as the area that is visible, and crop and share the screenshot immediately.

•

Palm swipe to capture : Capture an image of the screen by swiping the edge of your hand across it, from side to side, keeping in contact with the screen.

Advanced Features

•

Direct call : Call the contact whose call log, message, or contact details are currently on the screen by bringing the device close to your ear.

•

Smart alert : Set the device to vibrate when you pick it up to notify you about missed calls and messages.

•

Easy mute : Mute sounds and video by covering the screen or turning over the device.

•

Send SOS messages : Send a quick alert to your primary contacts when you are in an emergency situation by pressing the Power key quickly three times.

Send messages to : Add recipients by creating new contacts or selecting from

Contacts.

Attach pictures : Send pictures to your emergency contacts.

Attach audio recording : Send a short audio message to your emergency contacts.

Direct share : Share content with specific people directly via the sharing panel from within any app.

•

Video enhancer : Enhance the image quality of your videos.
