Belkin PM01629 is a Conserve Energy-Saving Surge Protector with Remote Switch. It has two types of outlets: "Always On" and "Remote Switched". "Always On" outlets are for devices that need continuous power, such as digital video recorders, cordless phones, alarm clocks, and wireless routers. "Remote Switched" outlets are for devices that do not need constant power or go into standby mode, such as printers, chargers, DVD players, computer monitors, televisions, and stereo systems. The remote switch allows you to turn off the power to the "Remote Switched" outlets when you're not using them, which can save energy. To turn off the power, simply press the "O" button on the remote switch. To turn the power back on, press the "|" button.
