STMicroelectronics L6470 stepper motor driver Application note

Below you will find brief information for stepper motor driver L6470. This application note describes how to drive three bipolar stepper motors in a daisy configuration. Each motor position and its velocity can be controlled individually or a sequence of position and velocity commands can be implemented by using the IronPython scripting language included in the dSPIN evaluation tool. With the dSPIN evaluation tool and STEVAL-PCC009V2 interface board, up to eight stepper motors can be controlled in a daisy chain configuration.

Frequently asked questions

The L6470 driver can control up to 8 stepper motors in a daisy chain configuration.

The L6470 driver allows for individual control of each motor's position and velocity. You can set specific positions, speeds, and directions for each motor.

Yes, the dSPIN evaluation tool includes an IronPython scripting environment that allows you to program complex sequences of commands for multiple motors simultaneously.

The dSPIN evaluation tool provides an interface for configuration and control. You use the STEVAL-PCC009V2 interface board to connect the L6470 drivers to the PC via USB.

A daisy chain configuration allows you to connect multiple stepper motors with a single communication interface, simplifying the wiring and control setup.
