You can change the port address of the host adapter by setting switches sw1-sw4 on the switch block. For more details, refer to the section on Switch Block Settings.

The floppy drive controller on the AHA-2842A is disabled by default because it is assumed that you will be using a floppy controller on the motherboard. If you want to use the floppy controller on the AHA-2842A, you must disable other floppy controllers in the computer.

The last physical SCSI device on either end of the SCSI bus must have terminators enabled. Terminators should be disabled on all other devices. The AHA-2840A/2842A has built-in terminators that can be enabled or disabled using the SCSISelect utility.

You can connect up to seven SCSI hard disk drives to the AHA-2840A/2842A without additional software if you enable BIOS Support for More than Two Drives in the SCSISelect utility.

You can make the host adapter treat removable media drives as hard disk drives by setting the Support Removable Disks Under BIOS as Fixed Disks option in the SCSISelect utility. However, you may not remove the media while your computer system power is on.

Ensure your computer's CMOS Setup is set to No Drives Installed and the boot hard disk SCSI ID is 0. If the problem persists, back up all data on the SCSI hard disk and perform a low-level format with the SCSISelect Format Disk option.
