WatchGuard IDENTIKEY IAS Authentication Server, Firebox, SSL Mobile VPN Integration Guide

The IDENTIKEY IAS is a centralized authentication server that supports the deployment, use and administration of DIGIPASS strong user authentication. This document describes how to integrate the IDENTIKEY IAS with a WatchGuard Firebox. You can use the combination of these two products to set up a more secure remote connection between the outside world and your company’s internal network. The Firebox device will securely authenticate users using the IDENTIKEY IAS and the DIGIPASS. Once successfully authenticated, the user can access your network securely from a remote location.

Frequently asked questions

The IDENTIKEY IAS acts as a RADIUS server and the Firebox is configured as a RADIUS client. The Firebox sends authentication requests to the IDENTIKEY IAS, which checks the user's credentials against its database and responds accordingly.

The user provides their static password and the One-Time Password (OTP) generated by their DIGIPASS. This combined password is sent to the IDENTIKEY IAS for authentication.

You need to activate the Mobile VPN with SSL feature on the Firebox and configure it to use RADIUS for authentication. You also need to add the user to the Firebox and configure their authentication settings to use RADIUS.

You need a Firebox or WatchGuard XTM device installed with Fireware v11.10.x and a VASCO IDENTIKEY Authentication Server version 3.9 installed on Windows Server 2012 R2. You also need a RADIUS server, Active Directory Server or LDAP Server for user authentication.

You can use the Mobile VPN with SSL client to test user authentication. You need to download the client software, login with the user's credentials, and connect to the Firebox. If the connection is successful, the integration is working.
