Metz televisions are optimally equipped for use with all existing types of reception. Their outstanding signal processing ensures that you enjoy a brilliant picture at all times. The result is pure, rich colours, sharp lines and optimum contrast.

Top class television – cutting-edge LED technology illuminates with light-emitting diodes (LED) instead of fl uorescent tubes; creating exceptionally brilliant picture quality. The ideal technology for perfect viewing pleasure – depending on screen size, Metz LCD TVs with LED technology are equipped with either Edge LED or Direct LED with local area dimming. Full HD 100 Hz

CCFL:

Fluorescent tubes (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp CCFL) illuminate the screen.

It goes without saying that all Metz televisions are equipped with the latest technology and offer amazingly sharp picture resolution. All TVs feature cutting-edge Full HD resolution with

1,920 × 1,080 pixels.

Integrated HDTV

HDTV is the broadcasting standard of the future. Many Metz televisions already feature integrated HD capabilities. Previous models can be retrofi tted with an integrated HD receiver if desired – Metz is the only manufacturer worldwide to offer this option.

Edge LED:

LEDs (light emitting diodes) around the edge of the TV screen illuminate the picture evenly from behind via light conductors.

Direct LED with local area dimming:

Light diodes are evenly distributed behind the screen – individual light zones are automatically adapted to suit picture content.

Intelligent technology

LED is not just LED. Delivering brilliant picture quality depends on the technology behind the screen. With its LEDs, Metz employs cutting-edge technology – making colours even brighter and more lifelike than ever before. Metz’s renowned high-performance picture processing has been further optimised for use in Metz LCD TVs with LED technology. The result is all round perfect viewing pleasure.

Edge LED:

Depending on screen size, Metz LCD TVs with LED technology have individually dimmable light zones. This allows greater contrast in comparison to traditional LCD TVs.

Direct LED with Local Area Dimming:

With the help of local area dimming, light zones covering the entire screen can be dimmed or brightened automatically and independently of each other to complement the picture on the screen. The result – greater contrast and a signifi cantly improved display in darker areas.

Premium picture quality

Innovative LED technology opens up a new dimension in television. The stellar picture quality, which Metz LCD TVs deliver via tried-and-tested CCFL technology, is further optimised. This means that colours are more realistic, with greater richness; contrast is improved and depth of fi eld enhanced.

Lower energy consumption

Enjoy brilliant picture quality whilst saving energy – in comparison to CCFL technology, modern Metz LCD TVs with LED technology and a similar confi guration consume up to 40 % less electricity.

First-class picture quality 200 Hz technology

Clearer pictures, brilliant colours, smooth motion sequences, perfect contrast: mecavisionHD+, the LCD technology developed by Metz, ensures outstanding picture quality – and is eye-friendly. Even when viewing high-resolution HD TV signals, it ensures perfect motion compensation, reproducing complex images such as text, elaborate patterns and colour edges in true-to-life detail. To provide a fi rst-class viewing experience, Metz televisions also feature a dynamic backlight, LUX automatic contrast, dynamic image clarity optimisation, 3D comb fi lters, in-plane switching (IPS), dynamic noise reduction, CTI and other technologies that improve the picture.

A further advantage: thanks to HDMI technology, Metz televisions display fi lms (e.g. in Blu-ray format) in their, pure unadulterated form with 24 pictures per second – the exact picture frequency used to record and store fi lms and show them in the cinema.

Optimum motion display

By combining the tried-and-tested technology of dynamic motion compensation with LED backlight technology, Metz is able to achieve the next level of motion optimisation. The

DMC chip calculates additional motion sequences and the

LED backlight is adjusted within four areas of lighting. This so-called scanning backlight considerably improves perception of motion sequences

A fi rst-class picture and fi rst-class sound go hand in hand: mecaSound + , the new digital signal technology developed by Metz, optimises the audio signal for an ultra clear, nuance-rich, full sound. The mecaSound + system ensures brilliant treble and bass reproduction.

For a complete sound experience, Metz televisions are equipped with a high-quality 2-way audio system. True audiophiles can enhance their Metz television with the Metz sound system to enjoy exceptional surround sound.

Excellent picture clarity even during high-motion scenes: the

100-hertz technology doubles the frame rate of Metz televisions. Combined with the dynamic motion compensation

(DMC), which interposes algorithmically computed frames, it ensures an optimum motion display with an even smoother overall fl ow.

A new dimension in audio

With mecaSoundpro, Metz is opening up a new dimension in sound quality. The high-quality integrated sound system with 2-way bass refl ex system* is equipped with sealed speakers and delivers impressively rich and clean sound.

The result is a unique audio experience which will universally impress even the most discerning of listeners.

In this way, you can, for example, enjoy a classical concert on your Metz TV and have the impression of experiencing it live in the audience. mecaSoundpro provides particularly authentic playback – even at high volumes delicate nuances are clear and authentic.

The sealed speakers mean practically no vibrations. Picture-in-picture (PIP) Timeshift function

Watch two different channels at the same time – during commercial breaks, for example: the practical picture-inpicture (PIP)** function makes it possible.

Be your own director!

Make a cup of tea, answer the phone or watch that exciting conclusion again and again. With the timeshift function, you can pause live digital TV at any time, watch the previous scene again or even view TV “in parallel”.* Metz puts you in the director’s chair.

Hard disk recorder – integrated or retrofi ttable

Pause the programme

Enjoy your favourite programmes whenever you feel like it – with the Metz hard disk recorder. You will never have to miss your favourite show again and you can watch your favourite fi lm as often as you want. The unique simultaneous recording function also allows you to record one channel while watching another. With the timeshift function, you can pause and resume live TV whenever you feel like it.

You can choose between a storage capacity of 250 or

500 GB. The 250 GB capacity holds up to 50 hours of

HD-quality video or 250 hours of SD-quality video, while the 500 GB capacity allows you to record twice as much.

You’re watching your favourite TV programme – and the phone rings. No problem – simply press pause!

Your Metz TV with timeshift function automatically records the current programme for you, so you don’t miss a second.

You can take your time on the phone before picking up where you left off. If two interesting programmes are on at the same time on different channels, you can simply ‘park’ one of them and watch it later.*

You’re the director and you decide how to watch your programmes – whether it’s a soap, crime drama or live sports!

Your Metz allows you to play back any scenes from the current programme as often as you like – without missing a thing, of course. After you’ve fi nished rewinding, the programme continues from exactly the point you stopped it at.

Your Metz frees you from the current programme schedule – once you've stopped or rewound a show, it only continues when you want it to! All it takes is a touch of the button on your remote control, and you’re back at the heart of the action.

Modular system for fl exibility

Whether you have cable, an aerial or a satellite dish, Metz televisions are equipped to handle all digital and analogue reception technologies. Their modular design allows components to be integrated into the TV housing at a later date*

– for example, if you move and require a new type of reception or would like to take advantage of a new technology altogether. So you do not need additional devices, such as a satellite receiver and the corresponding remote control.

A digital recorder (PVR)** can be retrofi tted at any time. Or receive encrypted channels (e.g. pay TV): depending on the model, Metz televisions feature one or two slide-in slots for the necessary encryption modules.

With three levels of complexity to choose from, you can limit the range of available options down to the bare minimum for simple TV operation. Or you can opt for the more elaborate approach and, for example, assign custom settings to individual channels and external signal sources, such as colour settings, volume, contrast and clarity – an innovative operating concept which earned Metz the Plus X Award.*

Technical glossary

10-bit signal processing

In contrast to conventional 8 or 9 bit circuits, Metz 10-bit resolution provides the greatest possible bandwidth and the best signal quality. This leads to brilliantly sharp picture quality, which is invaluable for very dark scenes.

24p

24p refers to the current format for cinema fi lms where fi lm material is shown at 24 frames per second. Many Blu-ray discs use the 24p format. In order to be able to display this on television screens, the signal has to be converted (via pulldown process) which gives rise to undesirable side effects in terms of movement in the image. This is not necessary in any Metz TVs as Metz 24p image processing can be shown directly via HDMI, without conversion.

100 Hz technology

Metz 100 Hertz technology doubles the frame rate of an LCD TV, which prevents motion blur and ensures that full clarity is maintained even during motion sequences. Combined with dynamic motion compensation (DMC) (see mecavision HD + ), which algorithmically adds intermediate images, it achieves optimum motion display with even greater fl uency.

200 Hz technology

By combining the tried-and-tested technology of dynamic motion compensation with LED backlight technology, Metz is able to achieve the next level of motion optimisation. The DMC chip calculates additional motion sequences and the LED backlight is adjusted within four areas of lighting. This so-called scanning backlight considerably improves perception of motion sequences.

Anti-aliasing

The intelligent anti-aliasing developed by Metz recognises step effects in diagonally running lines and edges and uses a special interpolation technique to smooth them out.

Audio amplifi er

A basic feature of all Metz LCD TVs. The integrated class D amplifi er boasts a compact design and optimum effectiveness with exceptional audio performance.

Automatic aspect ratio recognition

Allows the picture to be shown in its correct format, fi lling the screen and yet fi tting as many elements as possible into the frame

LCD

Liquid crystal display: a panel based on liquid crystals. Two electrodes control a liquid crystal layer, which is sealed between two glass panels. As soon as a current is applied, the crystals align themselves. Together with two large polarising fi lters and miniature colour fi lters applied to the glass, the crystals form a type of light valve with which the brightness of individual pixels and their colour

(red, green, blue) can be controlled.

Adjusts LED light sources in order to enhance black levels. With local area dimming, the entire screen is not dimmed, but rather individual LED light source sections on the back LCD panel are modifi ed independently of each other in order to adjust the screen.

Direct LED

Screen illumination via numerous LEDs arranged directly behind the screen; resulting in improved contrast levels (-> see also “LED technology”, “Edge LED”, “Local dimming”).

Edge LED

Screen illumination with light conductors via LEDs around the edge of the screen resulting in more even, brighter illumination and increased energy effi ciency (see also “LED technology”, “Direct

LED”, “Local dimming”).

Local dimming

Several light source sections on the screen can be automatically dimmed (depending on screen content) resulting in signifi cantly improved contrast levels (see also “LED technology”, “Edge LED”,

LUX automatic contrast

Recognises changes in ambient light and duly adapts the picture brightness with the automatic backlight control.

M mecaHome +

Software specially developed for Metz to enable control of Eaton

xComfort building automation systems. Information about various household appliances can be displayed on the TV screen using the remote control unit. Devices such as motion sensors, temperature gauges, light switches, doorbells, smoke alarms and lighting can be monitored and controlled via your Metz television.

mecavisionHD

A collective term for a whole range of picture optimisation features.

mecavisionHD +

Metz innovation in the fi eld of picture optimisation: mecavisionHD + now makes use of dynamic motion compensation, even when viewing high-resolution signals. This technology enables extremely smooth motion sequences. A further advantage: thanks to HDMI technology, Metz televisions display fi lms (e.g. in Blu-ray format) in their, pure unadulterated form with 24 pictures per second – the exact picture frequency used to record and store fi lms and show them in the cinema.

mecaSound + mecaSound + , the digital signal technology developed by Metz, optimises audio signals; in conjunction with high performance speaker systems it delivers clear, highly nuanced, full sound. mecaSoundpro

In addition to mecaSound + signal technology (see “mecaSound + ”), high performance 2-way speaker systems with two tweeters and two mid-bass units come into play, housed in acoustically optimised speaker units.

Environmentally aware with Metz

Natural resources are fi nite, and every year energy costs rise and increased burdens are placed on the environment. That is why Germany’s environmental regulations are so strict. But Metz is ready and willing to meet these challenges by responsibly manufacturing durable, German-quality products. Metz has always placed great importance on environmentally sustainable production with minimal transportation and intelligent, energy-saving ideas that distinguish between reductions in primary energy consumption (producing the appliances) and secondary energy consumption (energy used by the appliance).

The advantages of integration

Integrated Metz televisions use less energy and resources than would be required to run multiple separate units performing the same combined function (e.g. satellite receiver, hard disk recorder (PVR), etc.). This is because a Metz LCD TV brings together the capabilities of several devices in one, thus saving energy and natural resources. These savings in energy consumption mean that we also make a signifi cant contribution to reducing

emissions. In real terms, we can eliminate the need for a wide selection of external devices by integrating receivers and modules ranging from

DVB-C and DVB-T tuners to satellite tuners and hard disk recorders (PVR).

This in turn lowers primary energy requirements, as we can dispense with superfl uous unit housings, wiring and numerous plastic components. And we achieve all this whilst still providing increased user friendliness, since everything can be operated with a single, integrated remote control.

Metz LCD TVs’ modular construction concept also helps reduce energy consumption if ever the unit needs to be repaired. Ideally, it should be possible to carry out the repair at the customer’s home or, if not, at a dealership nearby. Furthermore, Metz also makes a key contribution to reducing primary energy consumption by manufacturing products exclusively at our

Zirndorf site in Bavaria. Metz is one of the few companies to manufacture their television housing on site, keeping transport costs during production to a minimum and avoiding placing additional strain on the environment.


Automatic adjustment to ambient brightness

It goes without saying that Metz TVs are also equipped to save energy in everyday use. Therefore, it makes sense to activate the “adapt to ambient brightness” setting. Activating this feature will let the LUX automatic contrast continually adjust the screen to suit the ambient brightness, taking care of both your eyes and your wallet. Energy consumption is reduced by up to 50% with no reduction in picture quality.

Metz even thinks carefully about the design of TV housing, and is one of the few manufacturers to give you a genuine on/off switch. This means that the television is completely isolated from the power supply by a mains switch, preventing energy consumption while it is turned off.
