Alphasmart 3000 – Beginners D2

USING THE ALPHASMART 3000.
Switch on by pressing the on/off switch at the top left.
Select one of the 8 files to work on by pressing one of the
‘File’ keys at the top of the keyboard.
Start writing – remember as you keep writing, the screen
‘scrolls’ round. So you can write as much as you like.
You don’t need to worry about saving – the Alphasmart
does it itself when you switch off. Whatever you wrote
last just comes back when you switch on again!
If you need to bring back another file you’ve used before
– just press the right ‘File’ key and it comes back.
When you are completely finished a piece of work, you
need to ‘download’ it onto a PC for spellchecking and
printing. All you do is……
Switch on the PC.
Open a wordprocessor (‘Word or ‘Talking First Word’ is
OK - 'Writeoutloud' is better still if you have it.)
Switch on your Alphasmart and open the file you want to
download.
Plug in your Alphasmart (A lead will have been set up for
you - it's usually blue.) The plug goes into the
‘Computer’ socket on the Alphasmart. Wait until it says
'Attached to PC.'
Press the ‘Send’ button on the Alphasmart (top right of
the keyboard) If nothing happens, take out the plug - put
it back in ….wait….then try again! Also make sure you're
not sending an empty file!
