What’s the difference between LONGboard and SHORTboard?
LONGBOARD / SHORTBOARD
61 & 49 KEY PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE
INSTRUMENTS
What’s the difference between LONGboard and
SHORTboard?
As far as features and electronics, the two models are identical. The difference between the two units is in the keyboard.
LONGboard 61 features a premium 61-note semi-weighted keyboard with velocity and channel aftertouch.
This type of quality keybed is usually reserved for the most expensive electronic keyboards.
SHORTboard 49 uses the same great semi-weighted keyboard with velocity and channel aftertouch, but with 49 keys.
Target Market
Any musician who wants a professional-quality, MIDI keyboard with world-class onboard sounds.
Target Customers
Performing Musicians
LONGboard/SHORTboard combine great feeling keyboards with world-class
E-MU sounds in a lightweight, yet rugged, package. All the classic keyboard sounds are represented: grand pianos, clavs, rhodes, wurlis, B3s, moogs, prophets, OBs, and much more. Both models also contain a top-quality, General MIDI sound set.
The onboard sounds have been meticulously sampled and tweaked to perfectly model the original instruments.
The keyboard can be split at any key. For example, you can play string bass with your left hand and organ or piano with your right. Any two sounds can also be layered to create huge walls of sound. You also have 10 synthesizer controls for expressive real-time control.
The slim, lightweight package design means that you can just throw it under your arm and carry it to the gig. In addition, the US versions of both LONGboard and
SHORTboard contain a wireless PIPEline transmitter to make connection even easier. You can even power the LONGboard/SHORTboard using batteries and have the ultimate wireless keyboard.
Non-Professional Musicians or Hobbyists
LONGboard/SHORTboard contain 128 voices and are 16-part multitimbral, making them ideal for song composition using MIDI. Connection to your computer is a one-step process using the provided bidirectional USB cable. No special drivers are required.
When connected to a computer via USB, the MIDI input and output ports function as a computer-MIDI interface to connect your other MIDI gear.

Key Features/Key Benefits
Key Features/Key Benefits
Great Keyboards
LONGboard 61 and SHORTboard 49 feature premium weighted keyboard with velocity and channel aftertouch. The keyboards have a nice solid, professional feel and are extremely responsive, making them an excellent choice for professional and amateur players alike.
Great Sounds
The sound set contains some of the greatest classic keyboard sounds of all time, including grand pianos, clavs, rhodes, wurlis, B3s, moogs, prophets, OBs, and many more. An excellent General MIDI sound set is also included. Each sound has been meticulously sampled and tweaked to perfectly model the original instruments.
Easy to Use
LONGboard/SHORTboard are plug and play, yet have all the expression and control you need. The most important controls: Filter Cutoff, Resonance, Attack,
Decay/Release, Reverb and Chorus are provided as front panel controls. The modulation wheel changes function according to the specific program.
Connection to your computer is a one-step process using the provided bidirectional USB cable. No special drivers are required.
128 Voice / 16 Part Multitimbral
Having 128 voices means that you probably never experience “voice stealing” or other annoying artifacts caused by overloading a computer-based VSTi. Sound generation (including envelopes and LFOs) is performed entirely by dedicated
E-MU hardware.
Because the LONGboard/SHORTboard are 16 part multitimbral, you can sequence up to 16 different tracks from your computer or MIDI sequencer.
Lightweight and Super Portable
The slim, lightweight package design means that you can throw it under your arm and carry it to the gig. LONGboard 61 weighs in at only 12 lbs / 5.5 kg and
SHORTboard 49 weighs only 10.3 lbs / 4.7 kg.
Built-in Wireless Transmitter
As an extra added bonus, LONGboard 61 and SHORTboard 49 come with a builtin PIPEline wireless transmitter so you can go wireless with a 5 meter (49 foot) range. (US versions also include a PIPEline stereo receiver.) For true wireless operation, LONGboard and SHORTboard can be powered by (6) standard D batteries.
