How to Connect to a Xerox Printer with a Mac
Most of the time, you should be able to connect to a Xerox printer using the IP address option, and OSX will
automatically query the printer and add the correct driver. However, sometimes, you will need to download the
drivers for the printer manually before adding the printer. The following are instructions for the manual installation.
1) Find the driver on Xerox’s
webpage. You should be able
to find it via search engine
using the printer model and
the word “drivers” (e.g.
“Xerox Workcentre 5955
drivers”). Make sure you have
the correct version of the OS
selected and then click the
link for the driver.
2) Click “Accept” to accept the
license agreement and start
the download.
3) In the Downloads section of
the Dock, open the Xerox
Driver DMG file. Then doubleclick on the Print Driver
package to open the installer.
4) Click “Continue” on the popup, and then again on the
next page.
5) Click “Continue,” and then
“Agree” to accept the license
agreement.
6) Click “Install.” Then when
prompted, enter your
computer password and
select “Install Software.” The
printer will install itself, and
then ask you which printer
you want to connect to.
7) If your printer is listed, select
it and select “Continue,” then
go to step 9. If not, go to step
8.
8) Click the button with Xerox
blue Printer icon and yellow
cable running under it. Type
your printer’s VU Tag into the
“IP Address or DNS Name”
field, and then click
“Continue.
9) Optionally, choose to print a
test page and set defaults.
Then click “Continue.”
