user’s guide to

kubi

the cloud controlled videoconferencing robot

designed and made in San Francisco

Meet kubi

KUBI means “neck” in Japanese, and we’ve designed KUBI to function like a neck for your tablet, giving you a more interactive way to enjoy videoconferencing.

KUBI takes your video calls to another level by putting internet based camera controls at your fingertips, giving you the ability to look around and converse naturally. Simple setup, intuitive controls and compatibility with almost any tablet let you experience more productive, engaging video calls from anywhere.

See what matters. Participate remotely. Get in the conversation.

Mounting your tablet in KUBI:

1. Spread adjustable arms and lower tablet into dock.

4

2. Make sure tablet is held firmly by the grips.

Mounting a Tablet

Do not use if tablet is crooked or not held in place by all grips.

Ensure tablet is square and straight in the grips before use.

Tablets can be mounted in portrait or landscape.

5

Proper Use

Always use KUBI on a hard, level surface.

Position KUBI well away from edges and make sure all feet are supported to prevent tipping.

Do not place KUBI on a soft or uneven surface to prevent tipping.

6

Proper Use

When using a charge cord with the tablet, make sure to leave slack in the cord for movement to avoid damage or tipping.

When Using KUBI, Never:

• Attempt to rotate or pivot KUBI beyond the stopping points by hand. This will cause permanent damage to your KUBI and void the warranty.

• Use KUBI in any manner other than specified in the safety and operating instructions.

• Use KUBI near water or in the rain.

Remote User Control of kubi

To access and use the KUBI controls, follow these quick steps:

1. KUBI controls run in any web browser. If using a laptop, use a split screen or a second display to view the KUBI controls and video software simultaneously. If using a tablet for video, a second device (phone, tablet, or laptop) is required to access the KUBI control page.

2. Click the KUBI control link that was shared from the KUBI app, or go to www.kubi.me and enter the 6 digit KUBI ID number in the “Enter KUBI ID” box at the top right portion of the page.

Integrated Video Clients

Revolve is currently working with a number of partners to develop video client software with integrated KUBI controls. For a current list of integrated software options, please visit:

Charging kubi

While KUBI is designed to be plugged in sitting on a desk, it is capable of going with you to see the world using its on-board battery. KUBI’s battery will support over 3 hours of videoconferencing when disconnected from an outlet, but eventually KUBI will need a break to re-energize. Please follow these guidelines for safety and longevity when charging KUBI.

Charge your KUBI by connecting to a computer or a wall outlet using the included mini USB cable and wall adapter. A pulsing orange light indicates charging when not connected to

Bluetooth.

Inspect your KUBI and mini USB cable/adapter regularly for signs of wear or electrical issues.

Do not attempt to charge if KUBI is damaged or the mini USB cable is damaged.

See warranty information on pages 16-17 for more information on resolving issues related to repair and/or defective product.

Low Battery

Fault

KUBI powers down after 10 minutes without a Bluetooth connection or by pressing and holding the front button. To wake KUBI, press and release the power/input button.

After powering up, KUBI is ‘awake’ and ready to connect to a Bluetooth device. The

LED surrounding the power button will be pulsing white.

KUBI has established a connection via Bluetooth. The LED will be solid blue by default or or you may set a custom color using the KUBI app. Motors will power up.

KUBI’s battery is low and needs to be connected to a USB power source. While KUBI is connected to Bluetooth, the LED will slowly pulse blue or the custom set color. If the KUBI is in standby and does not have a Bluetooth connection, the LED will sharply blink orange.

A rapidly flashing red LED means a fault has occured. Check if motors can move freely. If you experience any problems with KUBI, power the unit down by pressing and holding the power/input button for 5 seconds, then power up again. If the fault is not cleared after powering up and down, contact Revolve Robotics Inc. or consult www.kubi.me/troubleshooting for support.

Storage

Storing your KUBI

We recommend storing your KUBI inside a protective case such as the original foam packaging in which your KUBI arrived. We’ve also found that KUBI’s size and shape make it a perfect fit for most padded wine tote/carriers.

• Remove tablet, disconnect the mini USB power cord and make sure KUBI is not actively connected to a device via bluetooth.

• Store your KUBI at normal room temperature and avoid places where KUBI may experience extreme temperature variation.

• Keep your KUBI out of direct sunlight when not in use.
