IMPORTANT — READ CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU INSTALL OR USE THIS SOFTWARE: This End User License Agreement
(“EULA”) is a legal agreement between You (“You” and “Your” includes a person and/or an individual entity) and Sage Accpac
International, Inc. (“Sage Accpac”) concerning the specified evaluation, demonstration and/or retail software products(s) (hereinafter respectively referred to as “Evaluation Product,” “Demonstration Product” and “Retail Product”; and collectively referred to as
“Software”). The Software includes all component parts, the associated media, any printed materials, any updates, and any “online” or electronic documentation, as applicable. By accessing, installing, copying or otherwise using the Software, You agree to be bound by the terms of this EULA. If You do not agree to the terms of this EULA, Sage Accpac is unwilling to license the Software to You. In such event, You may not access, use or copy the Software, and You should promptly contact Sage Accpac for instructions on returning the Software. WRITTEN ASSENT IS NOT A PREREQUISITE TO THE VALIDITY OR ENFORCEABILITY OF THIS EULA.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
1. License.
Retail and conditions of this EULA, Sage Accpac hereby grants to You a limited, non-sublicensable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and run one copy of the specified version of the Software and the accompanying documentation, solely for Your individual use.
This EULA authorizes You to make one copy of the Retail Product solely for backup or archival purposes, provided that the copy You make contains all of the proprietary notices set forth in or on the original version of the Software.
Demonstration fees, and the terms and conditions of this EULA, Sage Accpac hereby grants to You a limited, non-sublicensable, non-exclusive, nontransferable and revocable right to install and run copies of the Demonstration Product and the accompanying documentation, solely on computer(s) owned or controlled exclusively by You, for Your individual use and for demonstration, marketing, promotional, end user support, training and/or development purposes, each to the extent permitted and/or required under the applicable Sage Accpac
Solution Provider, Certified Consultant, Development Partner, Professional Accountant Recommender, Online Referral Partner,
Hosting Partner, Recognized Training Center, Distribution Agreement or other applicable agreements between You and Sage Accpac
(collectively the “Other Sage Accpac Agreement”). Use of the Demonstration Product is limited to not more than the number of concurrent users and/or seats as specified in the Other Sage Accpac Agreement, multi-user license, product packaging or accompanying documentation. This EULA authorizes You to make one copy of the Demonstration Product solely for backup or archival purposes, provided that the copy You make contains all of the proprietary notices set forth in or on the original version of the
Software. You may have additional rights as may be set forth in the applicable Other Sage Accpac Agreement.
Evaluation
Accpac hereby grants to You a limited, non-sublicensable, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to install and run one copy of the Evaluation Product and the accompanying documentation, solely for Your individual use for evaluation purposes.
All alphanumeric key (the “Activation Code” or “PAC Code”) to enable You to use the Software pursuant to the terms of this EULA.
Documentation shall include, but not be limited to, any printed materials, “online” or electronic data provided by or obtained from Sage
Accpac with regard to this Software (“Documentation”). The Software and Documentation are licensed, not sold. Even though copies of the Software may be provided on media of different formats, copies of the Software on different media formats do not constitute multiple licenses to the Software. If the Software is licensed as a suite or bundle with more than one specified Software product, this EULA applies to all such specified Software products, subject to any restrictions or usage terms specified on the applicable product packaging or accompanying documentation that applies to any of such Software products individually.
Single-User. If this Software is licensed as a single user product, You may use only one copy of the Software, by not more than one user at a time, on a total of one computer or workstation, or personal digital assistant, or pager, or “smart phone,” or one such other electronic device for which the Software was designed (“Client Device”), unless otherwise set forth herein. The component parts of the Software may not be used individually or jointly in full or in part on more than one Client Device, unless otherwise set forth herein. The Software is “in use” on a computer when it is loaded into the temporary memory (i.e., random-access memory or RAM) of that Client Device.
Multi-User. If the Software is licensed with multi-user or networked license terms, You may use the Software on one server computer, or a greater number as specified in the applicable multi-user license, product packaging or accompanying documentation, within a multi-user or networked environment for connecting, directly or indirectly, to not more than the maximum number of Client Devices, concurrent users and/or seats, as specified in the applicable multi-user license, product packaging or accompanying documentation. Use of software, hardware or services that bypass any Software license restrictions and/or reduce the number of Client Devices, concurrent users and/or seats, as may be applicable, accessing or utilizing the Software (e.g.,
“multiplexing,” “pooling,” or third party add on software or hardware) expressly does not reduce the number of licenses required (i.e., the required number of licenses would equal the number of distinct inputs to the multiplexing or pooling software or hardware “front end”). If the number of Client Devices, concurrent users and/or seats that can potentially connect to the Software exceeds or has the potential to exceed the number of licenses You have obtained, then You must have a reasonable self-enforcing automatic

2. Term. Regardless of the location of the Software, You are responsible for strict compliance with any and all of the terms and conditions of this EULA. This EULA will terminate automatically if You fail to comply with any of the limitations or other requirements described herein, and such termination shall be in addition to and not in lieu of any criminal, civil or other remedies available to Sage
Accpac. When this EULA terminates, You must immediately cease using the Software and destroy all copies of the Software and the

Should You decide to submit any materials to Sage Accpac via electronic mail, through or to Sage Accpac website(s), or otherwise, whether as feedback, data, questions, comments, ideas, concepts, techniques, suggestions or the like, You agree that such submissions are unrestricted and shall be deemed non-confidential upon submission. You grant to Sage Accpac and its assigns a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable license, with the right to sublicense, to use, copy, transmit, distribute, create derivative works of, commercialize, display and perform such submissions.
5. Restrictions. You may not rent, lease, sublicense, loan, sell, distribute, market or commercialize any portion of the Software or its components. You may only install and use the Software (a) on hardware which is under Your exclusive control and, in the case of hardware performing any server functions, located at premises where You normally conduct day-to-day business operations; (b) on server hardware located at premises under the exclusive or primary control of an authorized Sage Accpac Hosting Partner or its agent; or (c) on a server not owned by You if You will be the only party with access to the Software on such server. You may not permit any parent, affiliate, subsidiary or any other third parties to benefit from the use or functionality of the Software, either directly or via a facility management, timesharing, service bureau or any other arrangement; provided, however, that You may use the
Software, as provided herein, to process the data of an affiliate or subsidiary of which You own more than fifty percent (50%); provided, however, You may not exceed the number of datasets specified on the applicable product packaging or accompanying documentation. You may not use the Software as part of a facility management, timesharing, or service bureau arrangement. You may not transfer any or all of the rights granted to You under this EULA. To the maximum extent this restriction is permitted under applicable law, You may not rename files of, modify, translate, localize, decompile, disassemble, decrypt, reverse engineer, attempt to derive source code from, remove any proprietary notices from, or create derivative works based upon the Software, in whole or in part. You may not duplicate or copy any portion of the Software or Documentation, unless otherwise set forth herein. You may not remove any proprietary notices or labels on the Software, including, but not limited to, the Sage Accpac and product names wherever they may appear. 14. Miscellaneous. This EULA is exclusively governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without reference to conflicts of law principles. Overview of the Sage Accpac WMS Architecture
Where you install these components depends on how Sage
Accpac is configured, specifically, where your Sage Accpac programs and shared data reside.
About the Sage Accpac WMS Server
The Sage Accpac WMS server controls all Sage Accpac WMS functions, including:
■
■
The Sage Accpac Console user interface, or Console, which administrators may use for setup, maintenance, or troubleshooting functions, and for performing handheld functions.
Communication with RF handhelds and computers using
Telnet sessions for all warehousing functions.
■
■
■
Communication with a dispatcher’s computer using HTTP sessions for order management functions.
Communication with the Microsoft SQL Server database and
ACCPAC Advantage Series Inventory Control, Order Entry, and Purchase Orders modules.
Communication with hardware, such as label printers, carousels, and conveyors.
All Sage Accpac WMS software components are installed on a single server.
If you need to support a large number of orders and users, you can spread the processing load over multiple servers by running the Sage Accpac Console on multiple machines over a network, from a single installation. If your warehouse management system needs to run additional Sage Accpac Consoles over a network, follow the instructions in the section, “Running the
Sage Accpac Console on Multiple Servers,” after installing the
Sage Accpac WMS software.

About the Sage Accpac WMS Database
Microsoft SQL Server manages the Sage Accpac WMS database.
The SQL server may be installed on the same machine as Sage
Accpac WMS, or it may be installed on a separate machine.
About the Sage Accpac WMS Clients
The Sage Accpac WMS clients consist of:
AWMS HandHeld functions, which allow the warehouse staff to perform all the Sage Accpac WMS warehousing operations.
These functions are run by means of Telnet sessions on RF
(Radio Frequency) handheld devices, or on a computer.
Web Dispatch, which is the browser-based user interface that warehouse, customer support, or sales staff use to view, process and track orders. Web Dispatch can be run from any computer running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5, or later.
About the Sage Accpac WMS Link
The Sage Accpac WMS Link integrates the ACCPAC Advantage
Series accounting system with WMS, allowing purchases orders, sales orders, receipts, and shipments to be sent between
ACCPAC Advantage Series and Sage Accpac WMS.
You install this component on the computer on which ACCPAC
Advantage Seriesis installed, and on each workstation from which Sage Accpac runs.
Sage Accpac WMS Installation Configuration
You should install Sage Accpac WMS on dedicated workstations or appliance servers, with no other applications running. The server configuration varies, depending on the number of users and the volume of data at your site. The following are some generalized sample configurations.

Sage Accpac WMS Installation Configuration
Multiple Sage Accpac Console Servers
If you need to support many users and a large volume of orders, you can configure Sage Accpac WMS to run on more than one server, rather than running from a single Sage Accpac Console installed on the Sage Accpac WMS server.
The Sage Accpac Console divides its services into separate threads, or processes, which can be run on different servers, thereby spreading the processing load over multiple servers.
To run Sage Accpac WMS on more than one server, you install
Sage Accpac WMS on a single central server (which can be the same machine that hosts the SQL database server, depending on the number of users), while enabling multiple servers to run the
Sage Accpac Console over a network through a mapped drive.

SQL Database Server Requirements
Your system or database administrator needs to install Microsoft
SQL Server 2000 with the latest service pack before you can install Sage Accpac WMS. Installation of the SQL server is not described in this guide.
The SQL server may be installed on the same machine as Sage
Accpac WMS, or it may be installed on a separate machine.
Creating the Sage Accpac WMS SQL Database
You can create a Sage Accpac WMS database in either of two ways:
■
■
You can let the Sage Accpac WMS installation wizard create the database.
Your database administrator can create the database prior to installing Sage Accpac WMS. (The procedure is not described in this guide.)
Sage Accpac WMS SQL Database Security
Regardless of how the Sage Accpac WMS database is created, you must decide how you want to set up security for the Sage
Accpac WMS connection to the database on the SQL Server.
The security method you choose determines the type of login
Sage Accpac WMS uses when it connects to the Sage Accpac

WMS database. There are two types of security methods to choose from: SQL Server authentication and Windows NT authentication, both of which are described below.
SQL Server Authentication
SQL Server authenticates the ID and password supplied by the user when logging on to the SQL server database.
Your database administrator sets up the user name(s) and password(s) for the Sage Accpac WMS database on the SQL server. During Sage Accpac WMS installation, you are asked to provide the user name and password to use when logging on to the Sage Accpac WMS database.
When your installation is up and running, any time Sage
Accpac WMS connects to the WMS database on the SQL server, it uses the specified user name and password.
Note: If the Sage Accpac WMS database is created by the Sage
Accpac WMS installation program wizard, you need to know the password for the sa (system administrator) login ID for the SQL server. You can get this information from your database administrator.
Windows NT Authentication
When logging on to the SQL server database, Windows NT authentication uses the same network ID that the user enters when they log onto Windows.
The SQL Server login security is integrated with Windows login security, so a separate SQL user name and password are not used. However, you will need to set up the database for
NT authentication before an actual connection can be made using Windows NT authentication.
■ If you are using an existing Sage Accpac WMS database, or if you are creating a new database prior to installation, follow the procedure in “Setting Up Windows NT Authentication for the Sage Accpac WMS Database” before installing Sage
Accpac WMS.

Before Installing Sage Accpac WMS
■ If you let the Sage Accpac WMS installation wizard create a database for you, when the installation is complete, you must follow the procedure in “Setting Up Windows NT
Authentication for the Sage Accpac WMS Database.”
When your installation is up and running, any time Sage Accpac
WMS connects to the WMS database on the SQL server, it will use
Windows NT security to authenticate the connection.
Note: On Windows 2000/XP, Windows NT authentication can be used only if the SQL database resides on the same computer as the Sage Accpac WMS installation.

Running the Sage Accpac Console on Multiple Servers
Console threads on different servers, rather than from a single
Sage Accpac Console installation, spreading the processing load over multiple machines.
To configure the Console to run on several machines, you install
Sage Accpac WMS on a single central server (which can be the same machine that hosts the SQL database server), while multiple servers run the Sage Accpac Console application over a network through a mapped drive, rather than from a local installation.
Note: Before proceeding to set up your site to run the Sage
Accpac Console on multiple servers, you need to understand
Console threads. For a complete description, refer to the section
“About Sage Accpac Console Threads.”
Setting Up the Sage Accpac Console for Multiple Servers
The following describes the steps required to set up the Sage
Accpac Console to run on multiple networked servers.
1. On each machine that will run Sage Accpac Console threads, install the SQL Server ODBC driver and configure the ODBC data source for the Sage Accpac WMS database. (See the section “Creating and Configuring the DSN,” for more information.)
2. On each machine that will run the Sage Accpac Console on the network, map a network drive to the RbHandHeld folder. The default path is:
\inetpub\wwwroot\rbwms\RbHandHeld
For information on mapping network drives, see your
Microsoft Windows documentation.
3. Provide licensing for the Sage Accpac Console to run on different machines. Follow the steps in the section
“Licensing the Sage Accpac Console on Multiple Servers.”
4. On each Sage Accpac Console server, create a startup script or icon that contains the appropriate startup parameters and threads for that machine. For more information, see

5. Start the Sage Accpac Console on each of the servers.
Licensing the Sage Accpac Console on Multiple Servers
Because the SOAP server (Web Services component) is installed on the same machine as the other Sage Accpac WMS components, its default address is ‘localhost’.
To run the Sage Accpac Console on computers other than the one where Sage Accpac WMS is installed, you must change the
SOAP server address to the IP address or to the name of the computer on which Sage Accpac WMS is installed. You can then share the licenses for the Consoles you are running.
You can change the SOAP server address by adding the following parameter in the RFBase startup command line:
/WSURL:xxx.xxx.x.xx where /WSURL refers to the web (SOAP) services URL, and xxx.xxx.x.xx is the IP address for the computer on which the
Kernel service is running.
You create the startup command as described in the next section,
“About the RFBase Startup Command.“
About the RFBase Startup Command
If you want to modify the connection string entered during installation, add startup parameters, or start Console threads on another computer on a network, you will need to create a startup command for the Sage Accpac Console. The command line includes the following:
■
The drive (either local or network) and directory where
RFBASE.exe is installed.

Startup parameters (optional). When you define the startup command lines to run the Sage Accpac Console, you can include startup parameters, which are described in the section “Background Threads and Sage Accpac Console
Startup Parameters.”
Creating an RFBase Command Line to Start the Sage Accpac
Console
To create a startup command line:
1. If the Sage Accpac Console is installed on a different computer on a network, map a network drive to the machine, drive, and directory in which the RFBase.exe is located. For procedures for mapping network drives, see your Microsoft Windows documentation.
2. For local or network installation of the Sage Accpac Console, create a startup shortcut on the desktop or on the Windows
Start menu with the following target startup command line. drive:directory\rfbase.exe /dsn:dsn=data source name;uid=database user ID;pwd=database user password; </startup options
Startup options are described in the section “About Sage Accpac
Console Threads.”
For windows authentication, you do not need to enter the uid=database user ID;pwd=database user password; parameters.
Note: If you are using multiple console servers, it is crucial to specify the /NOPRINT parameter on all machines except one.
All other parameters are optional, depending on which threads you which to start. (For more information, see “About Sage
Accpac Console Threads.”)

About Sage Accpac Console Threads
About Sage Accpac Console Threads
The Sage Accpac Console divides its services into separate threads, or processes, that serve the client systems, control printers, and interface with other applications, including the host accounting order-entry system, Crystal Reports, and shipping systems. The threads that control label printing, Web Dispatch and AWMS handheld functions run automatically, while other threads must be enabled to run.
Among the configurable background threads, the most important ones are:
■
Reports, which prints paper packing slips, invoices, and other documents by interfacing with Crystal Reports Server or Windows file server.
■
Download, which transfers purchase orders, sales orders, kit work orders, and vendor availability records from the host system, as they are available.
■ Upload, which transfers purchase order receipt confirmations, sales/work order picking confirmations, and miscellaneous adjustments to the host system, as they are available.
■
Shipping, which transfers shipping information to and from an external shipping system, such as UPS WorldShip or
ClipperShip.
■ Allocation, which automatically attempts to allocate sales and/or work orders.
■ Conveyor, which enables support for conveyor systems.
■ Pods, which enables support for carousels.
While the Web and handheld threads may run on multiple servers, all other threads must not be duplicated on more than one server. The threads that are to be run on each server are specified in the server startup script for each machine.

About Sage Accpac Console Threads
Starting Background Threads
By default, the Web server, RF/Telnet, and label printing threads are started when you start the Sage Accpac Console.
Note: The label printing thread must be disabled on every machine except one dedicated label printing server. Use the
/NOPRINT parameter to do so, as described below.
To control the additional threads that should be run, you have the following options:
■
If you are using a single console server only, you can configure the upload, download, background allocation, shipping, and reports threads to start automatically by enabling them through the Sage Accpac Console Setup program. For this option, see “Configuring Background
Threads to Start Automatically.”
■
■
Note: You must not use this option if you are running the
Sage Accpac Console on more than one server, as this option starts threads globally on all machines.
You can start all threads and disable the label printing threads automatically by including additional parameters in the command startup line or shortcut on each machine.
When the Sage Accpac Console is started, the threads specified in the startup parameters are started automatically.
To disable label printing, to enable conveyors or carousels, or to specify multiple AWMS handheld servers, you must use this option. For this option, see “Configuring
Background Threads to Start Automatically.”
You can manually start and stop upload, download, background allocation, shipping, and reports threads manually once Sage Accpac WMS is started. For this option, see “Manually Starting and Stopping Background Threads.”

Restarting Services
Before reading this section you may want to review “Sage
Accpac WMS Required Services.”
After making major changes to your Sage Accpac WMS configuration, you may need to restart various services. While this may not always be required, it is a good practice to restart the services to ensure that your changes take effect and to correct any disruption in service that may occur as a result of the changes.
You must restart the services after any changes are made to the database connection. This includes connection to a different database or changes to the parameters of the current Sage
Accpac WMS database on the SQL server.
