Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer. Do not damage the refrigerant circuit. Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartment, unless they are recommended by the manufacturer. The refrigerant and insulation blowing gas used in the appliance requires special disposal procedures. When disposal, please consult with services agent or a similarly qualified person. 3 Risk of Fire and Flammable Materials This symbol alerts you to flammable materials that can ignite and cause a fire if you do not take care. This appliance contains a small amount of isobutane refrigerant (R600a), but it is also combustible. When transporting and installing the appliance, care should be taken to ensure that no parts of the refrigerating circuit are damaged. If a leak is detected, avoid any naked flames or potential sources of ignition and air the room in which the appliance is standing for several minutes. In order to avoid the creation of a flammable gas air mixture if a leak in the refrigerating circuit occurs, the size of the room in which the appliance is used should correspond to the amount of refrigerant used. The room must be 1 m2 in size for every 8 g of R600a refrigerant inside the appliance. When positioning the appliance, ensure the supply cord is not trapped or damaged. Do not locate multiple portable socket-outlets or portable power supplies at the rear of the appliance. 4 Do not use or store inflammable materials like ether, benzene, alcohol, medicine, LP gas, spray or cosmetics near or in the refrigerator. It may cause explosion or fire. 5 Install in places away from the fire such as the place where flammable gas is leaked. It may cause fire. If there is a gas leakage (isobutane, propane, natural gas, etc.), do not touch the appliance or power plug and ventilate the area immediately. This appliance uses a refrigerant gas (isobutane,R600a). Although it uses a small amount of the gas, it is still combustible gas. Gas leakage during appliance transport, installation or operation can cause fire, explosion or injury if sparks are caused 6 like gasket 7 Do not place glass containers, bottles or cans (especially those containing carbonated drinks) in the freezer compartment, shelves or ice bin that will be exposed to temperatures below freezing. The internal temperatures could be affected by the location of the appliance, the ambient temperature, the frequency of door opening and so on. The climate class can be found on the rating label. 5. EXPRESS FREEZE* When the refrigerator is first turned ON the EXPRESS FREEZE feature can be turn ON. The compressor and circulating fan operate at maximum cooling capacity to quickly lower the refrigerator temperature. It shuts off automatically. For non-dual display For dual display • If warm food is placed into the refrigerator, FAST FREEZING can be started with the button on the control panel. FAST FREEZING will shut off when the temperature reaches the proper level or it can be shut off manually by pressing the FAST FREEZING button. 14 CHILD LOCK (OPTIONAL)* • CHILD LOCK Press and hold the child lock button for 3 seconds to lock the child lock. When it is locked, the Lock LED will be on and the other button will not operate. To unlock, press and hold the CHILD LOCK button for 3 seconds again. For non-dual display For dual display Wi-Fi* This sets the refrigerator to connect to your home's Wi-Fi network. To remove ice cubes, hold the lever of the tray and pull turn gently. Then, ice cubes drop in to the ice cube box. WARNING Fill with potable water only. You can purchase the HYGIENE FRESH filter at the nearest distributor or the service center. 17 WATER DISPENSER (OPTIONAL) Pour water after the water tank is in position. Necessarily separate the water tank to clean it our when not in use. When the water tank is not in position after filling it with water, water can leak out by the valve. Pouring water in the water tank Cover Cap 1. Open the cover cap and pour water into the water tank. 2. Close the cover cap. 3. The water tank is optional removable part which can be applied to enlarge the storage capacity. You can use the upper basket after removing the water tank and closing up the hole with a plug. The plug is enclosed with the egg tray. Caution Do not use anything other then water, even hot water needs to be cooled before being poured into the water tank. Do not fill more than the indicated level. Drinking Water 1. Press the dispenser pad with cup. 2. The water is released when the dispenser pad is pressed. The pad returns to its original position when the cup is removed and the water stops its flow. 18 SMART FUNCTIONS (Only for applied models) router. Purchase a Wi-Fi repeater (range extender) to improve the Wi-Fi signal strength. The Wi-Fi connection may not connect or may be interrupted because of the home network environment. The network connection may not work properly depending on the Internet service provider. The surrounding wireless environment can make the wireless network service run slowly. If the firewall on your wireless router is enabled, disable the firewall or add an exception to it. The wireless network name (SSID) should be a combination of English letters and numbers.(Do not use special characters.) Smartphone user interface (UI) may vary depending on the mobile operating system(OS) and the manufacturer. If the security protocol of the router is set to WEP, you may fail to set up the network. Please change it to other security protocols (WPA2 is recommended) and register the product again. Using Smart ThinQ Application For appliances with the or logo Things to check before using LG SmartThinQ 1 Check the distance between the appliance and the wireless router (Wi-Fi network). If the distance between the appliance and the wireless router is too far, the signal strength becomes weak. It may take a long time to register or installation may fail. 2 Turn off the Mobile data or Cellular Data on your smartphone. For iPhones, turn data off by going to Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data. 3 Connect your smartphone to the wireless router. NOTE To verify the Wi-Fi connection, check that Wi-Fi icon on the control panel is lit. The appliance supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks only. To check your network frequency, contact your Internet service provider or refer to your wireless router manual. LG SmartThinQ is not responsible for any network connection problems or any faults, malfunctions, or errors caused by network connection. If the appliance is having trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi network, it may be too far from the 19 SMART FUNCTIONS (Only for applied models) Installing LG SmartThinQ Re-registering the Appliance or Registering Another User Search for the LG SmartThinQ application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store on a smart phone. Follow instructions to download and install the application. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button for 3 seconds to temporarily turn it off. Run the LG SmartThinQ application and follow the instructions in the application to register the appliance. Wi-Fi Function NOTE Communicate with the appliance from a smart phone using the convenient smart features. To disable the Wi-Fi function, press and hold the Wi-Fi button for 3 seconds. Wi-Fi icon will be turned off. Firmware Update Keep the appliance performance updated. Settings Allows you to set various options on the refrigerator and in the application. NOTE If you change your wireless router, Internet service provider, or password, delete the registered appliance from the LG SmartThinQ application and register it again. The application is subject to change for appliance improvement purposes without notice to users. Functions may vary by model. Connecting to Wi-Fi The Wi-Fi button, when used with the LG SmartThinQ application, allows the appliance to connect to a home Wi-Fi network. The Wi-Fi icon shows the status of the appliance’s network connection. The icon illuminates when the appliance is connected to the Wi-Fi network. Initial Appliance Registration Run the LG SmartThinQ application and follow the instructions in the application to register the appliance. 20 SMART FUNCTIONS (Only for applied models) Using Smart Diagnosis™ For appliances with the or logo Display panel is inside the Fridge Room. Smart DiagnosisTM Through the Customer Information Centre Use this function if you need an accurate diagnosis by an LG Electronics customer information centre when the appliance malfunctions or fails. Use this function only to contact the service representative, not during normal operation. 1 Open the fridge door. 2 Press and hold the Fridge button for three seconds or longer. 3 If the buzzer sounds 4 times, open the freezer door and hold the phone near the speaker hole. If the display has been locked for over 5 minutes, you must deactivate the lock and then reactivate it. Display panel is on the Freezer door 1 Close the Freezer and Fridge doors, then press and hold the Lock button to activate the lock function. If the display has been locked for over 5 minutes, you must deactivate the lock and then reactivate it. 4 2 3 NOTE Press and hold the Fridge button for three seconds or longer. The control panel will be turned off, and then “3” will be displayed on the fridge temperature display part. Open both fridge door and freezer door, and then hold the phone on the upper right speaker hole. Position the phone so that its microphone is aligned with the speaker hole. 4 After the data transfer is complete, the service agent will explain the result of the Smart Diagnosis™. After the data transfer is complete, the service agent will explain the result of the Smart DiagnosisTM. 21 Position the phone so that its microphone is aligned with the speaker hole. The Smart Diagnosis™ sound is generated after pressing the Fridge button for three seconds. Hold the phone to the upper right speaker hole and wait while the data is transmitted. Do not take the phone off the speaker hole while the data is transmitted. The data transfer sound may be harsh to the ear while the Smart Diagnosis™ data is being transmitted, but do not take the phone off the speaker hole for accurate diagnosis until the data transfer sound has stopped. When the data transfer is complete, the transfer completion message is displayed and the control panel is automatically turned off and then on again after a few seconds. Afterwards the customer information centre explains the diagnosis result. The Smart Diagnosis™ function depends on the local call quality. The communication performance will improve and you can transmit a better signal if you use a land line home phone. If the Smart Diagnosis™ data transfer is poor due to poor call quality, you may not receive the best Smart Diagnosis™ service. OPERATIONS LAMP REPLACEMENT NOTE : This product applies LED Lamp which cannot be replaced by the user. Please contact authorized service centre for the lamp replacement. INVERTER-ON FEATURE (Optional) 1. While using this feature, the refrigerator will work on basic requirement as required by the product. 2. The results of the Inverter-On feature may vary depending on the number of appliances that are running on inverter. 3. For optimum running of refrigerator during Inverter-On mode, it is recommended to switch off the other appliances which are not in use. 4. It is recommended to confirm the quality of food items before consumption. 5. Ice cream etc. may get soften during the use of this feature, if situation arises so, it is recommended to change the setting as per one’s choice. LED PATTEN DURING INVERTER-ON MODE (OPTIONAL) During the use of this feature, you will find this pattern of LED running. It is a symbol that the product is running at basic energy requirement. One can press the button “REF TEMP” to change the LED setting during power cuts, if needed. The LED will then show the setting as desired. When the mode is changed from Normal supply to Inverter mode & vice versa, the LED pattern will take some time to display the change. VACATION TIME During average length vacations, you will probably find it best to leave the refrigerator in operation. Place freezable items in freezer for longer life. If you are leaving the appliance turned off for an extended period of time, remove all food and unplug the power cord. Clean the interior, and leave the doors slightly ajar to prevent mould from growing in the appliance. 22 • In the event of a blackout, call the electricity company and ask how long it is going to last. - You should avoid door openings while the power is off. - When the power supply gets back to normal, check the condition of the food. • If there are chill compartments in the appliance, do not store vegetables and fruits with higher moisture content in the chill compartments as they may freeze due to the lower temperature. 23 24 25 SUPPLY CORD REPLACEMENT If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. Disposal of the old appliance This appliance contains fluid (refrigerant, lubricant) and is made of parts and materials which are reusable and/or recyclable. All the important materials should be sent to the collection center of waste material and can be reused after rework (recycling).
