Avoid excessive cooling and perform ventilation sometimes.

• Otherwise, it may do harm to your health.

Do not insert the hands or bars through the air inlet or outlet during operation.

• Otherwise, it may cause personal injury.

Preparing for Operation

1. Contact an installation specialist for installation.

2. Plug in the power plug properly.

3. Use a dedicated circuit.

4. Do not use an extension cord.

5. Do not start/stop operation by plugging/unplugging the power cord.

6. If the cord/plug is damaged, replace it with only an authorized replacement part.

Usage

1. Being exposed to direct airflow for an extended period of time could be hazardous to your health. Do not expose occupants, pets, or plants to direct airflow for extended periods of time.

2. Due to the possibility of oxygen deficiency, ventilate the room when used together with stoves or other heating devices.

3. Do not use this air conditioner for non-specified special purposes (e.g.

preserving precision devices, food, pets, plants, and art objects). Such usage could damage the items.

Cleaning and Maintenance

1. Do not touch the metal parts of the unit when removing the filter. Injuries can occur when handling sharp metal edges.

2. Do not use water to clean inside the air conditioner. Exposure to water can destroy the insulation, leading to possible electric shock.

3. When cleaning the unit, first make sure that the power and breaker are turned off. The fan rotates at a very high speed during operation. There is a possibility of injury if the unit’s power is accidentally triggered on while cleaning inner parts of the unit.

FOR THE USER'S PERSONAL SAFETY, THIS

APPLIANCE MUST BE PROPERLY GROUNDED

The power cord of this appliance is equipped with a three-prong (grounding) plug. Use this with a standard three-slot (grounding) wall power outlet to minimize the hazard of electric shock. The customer should have the wall receptacle and circuit checked by a qualified electrician to make sure the receptacle is properly grounded.

DO NOT CUT OR REMOVE THE THIRD (GROUND)

PRONG FROM THE POWER PLUG.

A. SITUATIONS WHEN THE APPLIANCE WILL BE

DISCONNECTED OCCASIONALLY:

Because of potential safety hazards, we strongly discourage the use of an adapter plug. However, if you wish to use an adapter, a TEMPORARY

CONNECTION may be made. Use UL-listed adapter, available from most local hardware stores.

The large slot in the adapter must be aligned with the large slot in the receptacle to assure a proper polarity connection.

: Attaching the adapter ground terminal to the wall receptacle cover screw does not ground the appliance unless the cover screw is metal, and not insulated, and the wall receptacle is grounded through the house wiring. The customer should have the circuit checked by a qualified electrician to make sure the receptacle is properly grounded.

Disconnect the power cord from the adapter, using one hand on each. Otherwise, the adapter ground terminal might break. DO NOT USE the appliance with a broken adapter plug.

B. SITUATIONS WHEN THE APPLIANCE WILL BE

DISCONNECTED OFTEN.

Do not use an adapter plug in these situations.

Unplugging the power cord frequently can lead to an eventual breakage of the ground terminal. The wall power outlet should be replaced by a three-slot

(grounding) outlet instead.

USE OF EXTENSION CORDS

Because of potential safety hazards, we strongly discourage the use of an extension cord. However, if you wish to use an extension cord, use a CSA certified/UL-listed 3-wire (grounding) extension cord, rated at 15A, 125V.

Remove packing materials from the wall sleeve and tape from the air conditioner.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

If you use an existing wall sleeve,

you should measure its dimensions.

Install the new air conditioner according to these installation instructions to achieve the best performance. All wall sleeves used to mount the new air conditioner must be in good structural condition and have a rear grille to securely attach the new air conditioner. (FIG. 1)

With the LGE sleeve(optionally supplied with your unit),

you can maintain the best performance of the new air conditioner. (FIG. 2)

ELECTRICAL SERVICE

Check your available electrical service. The power supply available must be the same as that shown on the unit nameplate (found on left side of cabinet).

All models are equipped with a 3-prong service plug to provide proper service and safe positive grounding. Do not change plug in any way. Do not use an adapter plug. If your present wall outlet does not match your plug, call a qualified electrician to make the necessary corrections. SAVE CARTON for storage and this OWNER'S MANUAL for future reference. The carton is the best way to store unit during winter or when not in use.

To avoid risk of personal injury, property damage, or product damage due to the weight of this device and sharp edges that may be exposed:

• Air conditioners covered in this manual pose an excessive weight hazard. Two or more people are needed to move and install the unit.

To prevent injury or strain, use proper lifting and carrying techniques when moving unit.

• Carefully inspect location where air conditioner will be installed. Be sure it will support the weight of the unit over an extended period of time.

• Handle air conditioner with care. Wear protective gloves whenever lifting or carrying the unit. AVOID the sharp metal fins of front and rear coils.

• Make sure air conditioner does not fall during installation.

Installation

INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend the removal of the old wall sleeve and the installation of a new

LGE Wall Sleeve.

If you decide to keep the existing wall sleeve, you have to redirect the louvers at the back of the wall sleeve illustration. The use of pliers is recommended. If you DO NOT redirect, you run the risk of poor performance or product failure. This is not covered under the terms of the LGE warranty.

• Pick a location which will allow the conditioned air to blow into the area you want. Good installation with special attention to the proper position of the unit will lessen the chance that service will be needed.

All wall sleeves used to mount the new Air

Conditioner must be in sound structural condition and have a rear grille that securely attaches to sleeve, or rear flange that serves as a stop for the

Air Conditioner.

Remove old air conditioner from existing wall sleeve.

Clean the interior of an existing sleeve.

(Do not disturb seals.)

Wall sleeve must be securely fastened in wall before installing the air conditioner. Use the nails or screws through sleeve into wall, if needed. Repaint sleeve if needed.

Prepare the wall sleeve for installation of the unit. If you plan to use your existing wall sleeve, and it is not LGE, use procedure B or C below.

MUST have a rearward slope as shown. To achieve 1/4" slope, remove the backing from the

If you are using the new sleeve (optionally supplied with your unit),skip to step 3.

Otherwise, install the plastic grille from the kit.

Cut the plastic grille to 25-1/2" wide and 15-

1/4" high. Place the plastic grille to the inside of the wall sleeve at the rear flange.

Fasten the 4 washer screws to secure the grille to the wall sleeve. If you need plastic nuts to mount plastic grille to the inside of the wall sleeve, there are plastic nuts in the installation kit. The nuts are installed from the inside of the sleeve and are pressing into the square holes of the rear flanges.

Install the new unit into the wall sleeve.

To assemble trim, snap the tab of each piece into the slot of the other piece as shown below.

Slide trim over the front of the air conditioner until trim is flush with sleeve as shown below.

• When handling the air conditioner, be careful to avoid cuts from sharp metal fins on front and rear coils.

• Make sure air conditioner does not fall during removal.

• If unit does not operate after installation check, to be sure the circuit interrupter has not been tripped.

Refer to the Troubleshooting guide for reset procedure.

How to insert Batteries

1. Remove the cover from the back of the remote controller.

2. Insert two batteries.

• Be sure that the (+) and (-) directions are correct.

• Be sure that both batteries are new.

3. Re-attach the cover.

• Do not use rechargeable batteries.

Such batteries differ from standard dry cells in shape, dimensions, and performance.

• Remove the batteries from the remote controller if the air conditioner is not going to be used for an extended length of time.

Ventilation

The ventilation lever is located in the right of the air discharge.

The ventilation lever must be in the CLOSE position in order to maintain the best cooling conditions.

When fresh air is necessary in the room, set the ventilation lever to the OPEN position.

The damper is opened and room air is exhausted outside.

The direction of air can be controlled wherever you want by adjusting the horizontal louver and the vertical louver.

TURN THE AIR CONDITIONER OFF AND REMOVE THE PLUG FROM THE POWER OUTLET.

Air Filter Cleaning

The air filter should be checked at least twice a month to see if cleaning is necessary.

Trapped particles in the filter will build up and block the airflow. This reduces the cooling capacity and also causes an accumulation of frost on the cooling coils.

If the filter becomes turn or damaged you should replace immediately. Replacement filters are available from your salesperson, dealer, and the authorized customer service centers.

1. Open the inlet grille downward by pulling out the top of the inlet grille.

2. Remove the air filter from the front grille assembly by pulling the air filter up slightly.

3. Wash the filter using lukewarm water below 40°C (104°F).

4. Gently shake the excess water from the filter completely.

Replace the filter.

How to Attach Front Grille to Cabinet

The front grille can be removed for cleaning or to check the model and serial numbers.

For your safety, you should attach the front grille as the following procedures.

1. Pull down front grille from the cabinet top.

2. Push front grille’s tips toward the cabinet in order to insert front grille’s tabs into the cabinet.

3. Open the inlet grille.

4. Tighten the screw through the front grille into the plate of control box.

5. Close inlet grille.

Normal Operation

• You may hear a pinging noise caused by water being picked up and thrown against the condenser on rainy days or when the humidity is high. This design feature helps remove moisture and improve efficiency.

• You may hear the thermostat click when the compressor cycles on and off.

• Water will collect in the base pan during high humidity or on rainy days. The water may overflow and drip from the outdoor side of the unit.

• The fan may run even when the compressor does not.

Uso

Limpieza y mantenimiento

APARATO ES DESCONECTADO

OCASIONALMENTE:

El cordón de energía de éste aparato esta equipado con tres patas(cable a tierra). Utilice

éste con un enchufe de pared de tres salidas(a tierra) para minimizar el peligro de choque eléctrico. El cliente debe revisar el receptor de pared y el circuito por un electricista calificado para asegurarse que la recepción esta debidamente neutralizada.

Debido al peligro potencial, nosotros no recomendamos el uso de adaptadores. Sin embargo, si usted desea utilizar un adaptador, una CONEXIÓN TEMPORAL, puede ser efectuada. Utilice adaptadores UL, disponibles en la mayoría de los estable cimientos de herramientas. La pata mas grande del adaptador debe ser alineada con la pata mas grande del interruptor para asegurarse una polarización adecuada.

Todos los soporte de pared utilizados para montar el nuevo aire acondicionado deben estar en condiciones estructurales sanas y tener una rejilla posterior que se acople con seguridad al soporte de pared, o una pestaña posterior que sirva como freno para el aire acondicionado.

Desmonte el antiguo aire acondicionado del soporte de pared existente.

Limpie el interior del soporte de pared existente. (No toque el sellado.)

El soporte de pared se estar firmemente sujeto a la pared antes de instalar el aire acondicionado. Utilice los clavos o tornillos a través del soporte de pared, si fuera necesario.

Vuelva a pintar el soporte de pared si fuera necesario.

Instale la nueva unidad en el soporte de pared.

Al finalizar la instalación, la unidad de sustitución DEBE tener una pendiente hacia atrás según se ilustra. Para lograr una pendiente de 1/4", retire el envoltorio de las cuñas de 11-13/16" y acóplelas según se muestra a continuación en la FIG. 3. Coloque el extremo más alto de la cuña en la parte frontal de la base del soporte de pared.

• Los aires acondicionados tratados en este manual representan un peligro por peso excesivo. Son necesarias dos o más personas para desplazar e instalar la unidad. Para evitar lesiones o esfuerzos excesivos, utilice las técnicas de levantamiento y desplazamiento apropiadas al mover la unidad.

Cómo Poner Las Baterias

1. Quite la tapa de la parte posterior del telemando. Para ello haga deslizar la tapa según la dirección del la flecha.

2. Introduzca las dos baterías, asegurándose de que las direcciones (+) y (-) estén colocadas correctament. Use baterías nuevas.

3. Volver a cerrar, resbalando la tapa hasta la posición inicial.

Ventilación

La palanca de ventilación está colocada en el extremo derecho de la descarga de aire.

Esta palanca debe estar en la posición CLOSE (Cerrada) a fin de mantener las mejores condiciones de enfriamiento.

Cuando se necesita aire fresco en la habitación, coloque la palanca de ventilación en la posición OPEN (abierta).

El regulador de tiro está abierto y el aire de la habitación es expulsado hacia el exterior.

• No utilice baterís recargables,

éstas son diferentes de forma, de dimensión y uso respecto a las baterías secas usuales.

• Seque las baterías del telemando cuando el acondicionador no vaya a ser usado durante un largo período.

APAGUE EL ACONDICIONADOR DE AIRE Y DESENCHÚFELO DE LA FUENTE DE PODER.

Limpieza del filtro de aire

El filtro de aire debe ser controlado al menos dos veces al mes para ver si es necesaria su limpieza.

Las partículas atrapadas en el filtro pueden acumularse y bloquear el flujo del aire. Esto reduce la capacidad de refrigeración y también causa una acumulación de hielo en los sepentines de enfriamiento.

Si el filtro se inutiliza o se daña, debe ser reemplazado inmediatamente. Filtros de repuesto están disponibles en la tienda donde lo compró, el representante y en los centros de servicios autorizados.

1. Abra la rejilla de entrada hacia abajo tirando de la parte superior de la rejilla de entrada.

2. Quite el filtro de aire de la rejilla frontal tirando ligeramente del filtro de aire.

3. Lave el filtro usando agua tibia por debajo de 40°C

(104°F).

4. Sacuda suavemente el exceso de agua del filtro.

Reemplace el filtro.

Como agregar la rejilla frontal al gabinete

La rejilla frontal puede quitarse para su limpieza o para comprobar el modelo y el número de serie.

Para su seguridad, debe seguir el siguiente procedimiento para colocarla.

1. Quite la parte superior de la rejilla frontal de la parte superior del gabinete.

2. Empuje los extremos frontales de la rejilla hacia el gabinete a fin de insertar las pestañas de la rejilla frontal en el gabinete.

3. Abra la rejilla de entrada.

4. Ajuste los tornillos a través de la rejilla frontal en la placa de la caja de control.

5. Cierre la rejilla de entrada.

Problemas y soluciones habituales

Las sugerencias para solucionar problemas ahorran tiempo y dinero !

Revise la cartilla de más abajo antes de llamar al service, tal vez no tenga que hacerlo.

Operación normal

• Se puede oír un ruido agudo causado por el agua cuando está siendo recogida y arrojada contra el condensador en días lluviosos o cuando la humedad es alta. Esta característica de diseño ayuda a quitar la humedad y mejorar la eficiencia.

• Se pueden oír clicks en el termostato cuando el compresor gira hacia dentro y hacia afuera.

• El agua se depositará en la bandeja de base durante los días lluviosos o de humedad alta.

El agua puede rebalsar y gotear desde el lado exterior de la unidad.

• El ventilador puede funcionar aún cuando el compresor no lo hace.

• Si se produce una interrupción de la provisión de energía eléctrica, gire el control a

(apagado).

Cuando la energía se restituye, espere 3 minutos para reiniciar el acondicionador de aire para prevenir que el compresor se dispare.

• Presione el botón RESET situado en el enchufe del cable de alimentación. Si el botón RESET no permanece activo, suspenda el uso del aire acondicionado y póngase en contacto con un técnico de servicio cualificado.

• Asegúrese de que no haya cortinas, persianas, o muebles que bloqueen la parte frontal del acondicionador de aire.

• Gire el control de TEMPERATURA a un número más bajo.

Sólo repuestos. El cliente se hará cargo de los costes de cualquier servicio de mano de obra en nuestras instalaciones o en su hogar para reemplazar las piezas defectuosas.

PROCESO DE SERVICIO: Servicio a domicilio

Los servicios a domicilio se prestarán durante el periodo de garantía sujeto a disponibilidad en los Estados Unidos. El servicio a domicilio puede no estar disponible en todas las áreas. Para recibir asistencia técnica a domicilio, el producto debe estar en un entorno despejado y accesible al personal técnico. Si durante el servicio a domicilio la reparación no se puede llevar a cabo, es posible que sea necesario desplazarlo a nuestras instalaciones, repararlo y devolverlo a su hogar. Si este fuera el caso, LG puede optar, a petición nuestra, a utilizar el transporte de nuestra elección para desplazar la unidad al y del centro de servicio autorizado de LG.

ESTA GARANTÍA LIMITADA NO SE APLICA A:

1. Las visitas de Asistencia a domicilio para entregar, recoger y/o instalar el producto, instruir o sustituir fusibles.

2. Sustitución de fusibles de la casa o reajuste de interruptores de circuito, la corrección del cableado de la casa o de la tubería, o la corrección de la instalación del producto.

3. Los daños o averías causados por fugas / roturas/ congelación de tuberías de agua, líneas de drenaje restringido, suministro insuficiente de agua o interrumpido, o suministro insuficiente de aire.

4. Los daños o averías causados por accidentes, plagas e insectos, rayos, viento, fuego, inundaciones o actos de Dios.

5. Los daños o fallos ocasionados por el mal uso, abuso, instalación inadecuada, reparación o mantenimiento. Se considera reparación inadecuada aquella en que se hayan utilizado piezas no aprobadas o especificadas por LG.

6. Los daños o averías causados por modificaciones no autorizadas o alteraciones del producto.

7. Los daños o averías causados por la utilización de una corriente eléctrica, tensión o código de plomería incorrectos.

8. Daños estéticos, incluyendo arañazos, abolladuras, desportilladuras u otros daños en el acabado del producto, a menos que dichos daños sean el resultado de defectos en los materiales o mano de obra y se informe a LG en el plazo de siete días naturales (7) a partir de la fecha de entrega.

9. Los daños o la pérdida de componentes de cualquier producto cuya caja haya sido abierta, haya sido objeto de un descuento o se haya restaurado.

10. Los productos cuyos números de serie de fábrica originales hayan sido quitados, borrados o cambiados de ninguna manera.

11. Las reparaciones cuando el producto se utiliza para cualquier cosa fuera de lo normal y del uso doméstico habitual (por ejemplo su alquiler, uso comercial, en oficinas o en instalaciones de ocio) o en contra de la instrucciones que se indican en el manual del propietario.

12. La extracción y reinstalación del producto si está instalado en un lugar inaccesible.

ESTA GARANTÍA SE OTORGA EN SUSTITUCIÓN O EXCLUSIÓN DE TODA OTRA GARANTÍA, EXPRESA O IMPLÍCITA, INCLUYENDO SIN

LIMITAR CUALQUIER GARANTÍA DE CALIDAD O IDONEIDAD CON UN PROPÓSITO CONCRETO. EN LA MEDIDA EN QUE CUALQUIER

LG ROOM AIR CONDITIONER LIMITED WARRANTY - USA

WHAT THIS WARRANTY COVERS:

LG Electronics U.S.A., Inc. (“LG”) warrants your LG Room Air Conditioner ("product") against defect in materials or workmanship under normal household use, during the warranty period set forth below, LG will, at its option, repair or replace the product. This limited warranty is valid only to the original retail purchaser of the product, is not assignable or transferrable to any subsequent purchaser or user, and applies only when the product is purchased through an LG authorized dealer or distributor and used within the United States (“U.S.”) including U.S. Territories.

Note: Replacement products and repair parts may be new or factory-remanufactured and are warranted for the remaining portion of the original unit’s warranty period or ninety (90) days, whichever is longer. Please retain dated receipt or delivery ticket as evidence of the Date of Purchase for proof of warranty (you may be required to submit a copy to LG or authorized representative).

HOW SERVICE IS HANDLED: In-Home Service

In-home service will be provided during the warranty period subject to availability within the United States. In-home service may not be available in all areas. To receive in-home service, the product must be unobstructed and accessible to service personnel. If during in-home service repair cannot be completed, it may be necessary to remove, repair and return the product. If in-home service is unavailable, LG may elect, at our option, to provide for transportation of our choice to and from a LG authorized service center.

THIS LIMITED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER:

1.

Service trips to deliver, pick up, or install the product or for instruction on product use.

2.

Replacing house fuses or resetting of circuit breakers, correction of house wiring or plumbing, or correction of product installation.

3.

Damage or failure caused by leaky/ broken/ frozen water pipes, restricted drain lines, inadequate or interrupted water supply or inadequate supply of air.

4.

Damage or failure caused by accidents, pests and vermin, lightning, wind, fire, floods or acts of God.

5.

Damage or failure resulting from misuse, abuse, improper installation, repair or maintenance. Improper repair includes use of parts not approved or specified by LG.

6.

Damage or failure caused by unauthorized modification or alteration to the product.

7.

Damage or failure caused by incorrect electrical current, voltage, or plumbing codes.

8. Cosmetic damage, including scratches, dents, chips or other damage to the finish of the product, unless such damage results from defects in materials or workmanship and is reported to LG within seven (7) calendar days from the date of delivery.

9. Damage or missing items to any display, open box,

discounted, or refurbished product.

10. Product where the original factory serial numbers have

been removed, defaced or changed in any way.

11. Repairs when product is used in other than normal and

usual household use (e.g. rental, commercial use,

offices, or recreational facilities) or contrary to the

instructions outlined in the owner’s manual.

12.

The removal and reinstallation of the Product if it is installed in an inaccessible location.

THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ANY OTHER WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING AND WITHOUT LIMITATION TO, ANY

WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. TO THE EXTENT ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY IS

REQUIRED BY LAW, THIS WARRANTY IS LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE TERM PERIOD EXPRESSED ABOVE. REPAIR OR

REPLACEMENT AS PROVIDED UNDER THIS WARRANTY IS THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDY FOR THE CUSTOMER. NEITHER THE

MANUFACTURER NOR ITS U.S. DISTRIBUTOR SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, OR

PUNITIVE DAMAGES OF ANY NATURE, INCLUDING AND WITHOUT LIMITATION TO, LOST REVENUES OR PROFITS, OR ANY OTHER

DAMAGE, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE.

SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OR LIMITATIONS

ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THE ABOVE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS

WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS THAT VARY FROM STATE TO STATE.
