Introduction

Thank you for purchasing this quality product.

To minimize the risk of injury by means of fire or electric shock we urge that our clients take some basic safety precautions when using this device. Please read the operation instructions carefully and make sure you have understood its content.

Always use a grounded power connection with the appropriate mains voltage. You can find the corresponding mains voltage on the type plate. If you have any doubts about the connection being grounded, have it checked by a qualified professional. Never use a faulty electric cable.

Do not inspect the electrical part of the pressure pond filter in a wet or damp environment or when you are wet yourself and protect it from direct sunlight. Install this device in a safe location so that nobody can step on the cable, fall over or damage it.

Disconnect the power plug before cleaning it and use only a damp cloth for cleaning.

Avoid using cleaning agents and make sure that no liquid enters the electrical part of the pump.

The electric part of the device contains no parts that can be inspected or serviced by the user. Leave the maintenance, adjustment and repair to qualified technical personnel. In case of unauthorised intervention the 2-year warranty is no longer valid! Keep these operation instructions safe.

GENERAL SAFETY RULES

1) To avoid multiple kinds of hazards, read and understand the safety instructions before installing, operating, repairing, maintaining, changing accessories on or working near the assembly power tool. Failure to do so can result in serious injury.

2) Only qualified and trained operators should install, adjust or use the assembly power tool.

3) Do not modify this assembly power tool for threaded fasteners. Modifications can reduce the effectiveness of safety measures and increase the risks to the operator. It will also void warranty.

4) Do not discard the safety instructions. Always hand them over to the operator.

5) Do not use the assembly power tool if it has been damaged.

6) Tools must be inspected regularly to verify that the ratings and markings required by this part of

ISO 11148 are legibly marked on the tool. The employer/user must contact the manufacturer to get missing labels in order to replace them.

PROJECTILE HAZARDS

1) Failure of the workpiece, accessories or even of the inserted tool itself can generate high-velocity projectiles.

2) Always wear impact resistant eye protection during the operation of the power tool. The grade of protection required should be assessed for each use.

3) Ensure that the workpiece is securely fixed.

HAZARDS DUE TO ENTANGLEMENT

1) Entanglement hazards can result in choking, scalping and/or lacerations if loose clothing, personal jewellery, neckware, hair or gloves are not kept away from the tool and accessories.

2) Gloves can become entangled with the rotating drive causing severed or broken fingers.

3) Rotating drive sockets and drive extensions can easily entangle rubber-coated or metal-reinforced gloves.

4) Do not wear loose-fittings gloves with cut or frayed fingers.

5) Never hold the drive, socket or drive extension.

6) Keep hands away from rotating devices.

OPERATING HAZARDS

1) The use of the tool can expose the operator’s hands to hazards including crushing, impacts, cuts and abrasions to heat. Wear suitable gloves to protect hands.

2) Operators and maintenance personnel have to be physically able to handle the bulk, weight and power of the tool.

3) Hold the tool correctly. Be ready to counteract normal or sudden movements and use both hands.

4) Maintain a balanced body position and secure footing.

5) In cases where the means to absorb the reaction torque are requested, it is recommended to us a suspension arm whenever possible. If that is not possible, side handles are recommended for straight case and pistol-grip tools. Reaction bars are recommended for angle nutrunners. In any case it is recommended to use a means to absorb the reaction torque above 4 Nm for straight tools, above 10 Nm for pistol-grip tools and above 60 Nm for angle nutrunners.

6) Release the start-and-stop device in the case of an interruption of the energy supply.

7) Only use lubricants recommended by the manufacturer.

8) Do not use in confined spaces and beware of crushing hands between tool and workpiece, especially when unscrewing.

REPETITIVE MOTIONS HAZARDS

1) When using a power tool the operator can experience discomfort in the hands, arms, shoulders, neck and other parts of the body due to constant vibrations.

2) While using an assembly power tool the operator should adopt a comfortable posture while maintaining secure footing and avoiding unnatural or off-balanced postures. The operator should change posture during extended tasks, which can help to avoid discomfort and fatigue.

3) If the operator experiences symptoms such as persistent or recurring discomfort, pain, throbbing, aching, tingling, numbness, burning sensations or stiffness, these warning signs must not be ignored. The operator has to tell the employer and consult a qualified health professional.

ACCESSORY HAZARDS

1) Disconnect the assembly power tool from the energy supply before changing the inserted tool or any accessory.

2) Do not touch sockets or accessories during impacting as this increases the risk of cuts, burns or vibration injuries.

3) Use only sizes and types of accessories and consumables that are recommended by the manufacturer. Do not use other types than defined by the manufacturer.

4) Only use sockets that are in good condition. Sockets in poor condition can shatter and become projectiles.

WORKPLACE HAZARDS

1) Slips, trips and falls are major causes of workplace injuries. Be aware of slippery surfaces caused by the use of the tool and also of trip hazards caused by the air line or hydraulic hose.

2) Proceed with care in unfamiliar surroundings. Hidden hazards, such as electricity or other utility lines can exist and have to be considered.

3) The power tool is not intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and is not insulated against coming into contact with electric power.

4) Make sure there are no electric cables, gas pipes, etc. that can cause a hazard if damaged by use of the tool.

DUST AND FUME HAZARDS

1) Dust and fumes generated when using the power tool can have a negative impact on health of the user. Risk assessment and implementation of appropriate controls for these hazards are essential.

2) Where dust or fumes are created the priority should be to control them at the point of emission.

3) All integral features or accessories for the collection, extraction or suppression of airborne dust or fumes should be correctly used and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

4) Use respiratory protection in accordance with employer’s instructions and as required by occupational health and safety regulations.

NOISE HAZARDS

1) Exposure to high noise levels can cause permanent, disabling hearing loss and other problems such as a tinnitus (ringing, buzzing, whistling or humming in the ears).

2) Appropriate controls to reduce the risk may include actions such as damping materials to prevent workpieces from ringing.

3) Use hearing protection in accordance with employer’s instructions and as required by occupational health and safety regulations.

4) Operate and maintain the power tool as recommended in the instructions to prevent an unnecessary increase in noise levels.

VIBRATION HAZARDS

1) Exposure to vibration can cause disabling damage to the nerves and blood supply of the hands and arms.

2) Keep the hands away from the nut-runner sockets.

3) Wear warm clothing when working in cold conditions and keep your hands warm and dry.

4) If you experience numbness, tingling, pain or whitening of the skin in your fingers or hands, stop using the power tool, tell your employer and consult a physician.

5) Operate and maintain the power tool as recommended in the operation manual to prevent any unnecessary increase in vibration levels.

6) Do not use worn or bad fitting sockets or extensions as this is likely to cause a substantial increase in vibration. Always maintain the tool and its accessories to avoid unnecessary increase in vibration levels.

7) Sleeve fittings should be used when practicable.

8) Support the weight of the tool in a stand, tensioner or balancer if possible.

9) Hold the tool with a light but safe grip, taking account of the required had reaction forces, because the risk from vibration in generally greater when the grip force is higher.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: PNEUMATIC POWER TOOL

1) Air under pressure can cause severe injury.

2) Always shut off air supply, drain hose of air pressure and disconnect the tool from air supply when not in use before changing accessories or when making repairs.

3) Never direct air at yourself or anyone else.

4) Whipping hoses can cause severe injury. Always check for damaged or loose hoses and fittings.

5) Cold air shall be directed away from hands.

6) Do not use quick disconnect couplings at tool inlet and air-hydraulic impulse wrenches. Use hardened steel (or material with comparable shock resistance) threaded hose fittings.

7) Whenever universal twist couplings (claw couplings) are used, lock pins shall be installed and whipcheck safety cables should be used to safeguard against possible hose-to-tool and hose-tohose connection failure.

8) Do not exceed the maximum air pressure stated on the tool.

9) Never carry an air tool by the hose.

ATTENTION : When working with the compressed air impactor, an ear protection must be worn. A certain noise pollution caused by this device is not avoidable. If complex work has to be done, it is recommended to schedule the tasks and keep rest if necessary. The working time has to be limited to the most necessary. Hearing protectors must be worn for personal protection.

ATTENTION : Vibration according to EN ISO 28927-3 and EN 12096. See “Technical Data” table.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This tool has a reversible spindle driving a hammer which periodically strikes an anvil which includes a drive adapter for the purpose of tightening or loosening nuts and bolts without producing any major torque reaction on the power tool.

AIR LINE

Use a ¼” air hose between the compressor and the tool. Compressed air is cooled and its water content separated, as the air leaves the compressor. A portion of water content, however, is condensed in the piping and can enter the tool mechanism which might cause trouble. Install an air filter and an oiler between the compressor and the tool. Use a 3 HP or larger compressor for each tool.

INSERTED TOOLS

Only use sockets or adapters which are in good working condition. The intended socket and adapter for this air tool is stated as square drive included in the technical data table.

SAFETY

 Wear proper eye protection, ear-muffs, mouth-muffle and gloves at all times when operating this tool to minimize risks of injury.

 The working place must be well ventilated.

 Release the on/off switch in case of energy supply failure.

OPERATION

ON/OFF-SWITCH

The switch is in the inner or outer contour of the grip. It is a “hold-to-run”-type. This tool stops rotation within few moments after releasing the trigger. For the sake of safety, place it on a level plate or on a hangar after it completely stops.

FREE SPEED ADJUSTER

You can adjust the free speed by rotating the knob which indicates 1 to 3. 1 indicates the smallest free speed output and 3 indicates the largest free speed output.

ROTATING DIRECTION

Ensure correct direction of rotation before actuating the tool. The “F” indicates forward and the “R” indicates reverse. Forward is defined as clockwise direction seen from the operator’s position.

MAINTENANCE

LUBRICATION

Before connecting the hose, apply 4 to 5 drops of #10 spindle oil at the air inlet. Use of thicker oil can lead to reduced performance or malfunction. If thicker oil is used by accident, wash it away immediately. Also, oiling is necessary after every 3-4 hours of operation.

STORAGE

Avoid storing the tool in a location with a high humidity. If the tool is stored immediately after use, residual moisture inside the tool can cause rust. Before storing and after operation, oil the tool at the air inlet with spindle oil and run it for a short time.
