This addendum contains information relevant to EPSON Serial Impact Dot Matrix printers
introduced from 1997 onward. This document covers the following EPSON models:
FX-880, FX-980, FX-1180, FX-2180, DFX-8500, LQ-2080, and the LQ-2180.
These printers feature the following enhancements:
• Since July 1998 Code Page PC 858 and ISO 8859-15 support, specifically
providing code page support for the Euro Dollar symbol;
• Increased draft printing speed through the addition of Super Draft print
capability;
• Enhanced paper loading modes for a wide variety of media (auto cut on/off,
feed paper to tear-off position);
• Greater flexibility in form printing, allowing up to 1 original and 6 copies;
• Wider range of business printing due to an increase in the character tables
built into the ROM.
Additionally, two new or enhanced EPSON ESC/P commands (ESC EM n & ESC y n) have
been added. These commands are discussed on pages 12 and 13.

Function
Support Printer
1)
Controls feeding of continuous and single-sheet paper, according to the parameter below.
n=30H : Exits cut-sheet feeder mode
n=31H : Select loading from bin 1 of the cut-sheet feeder
n=32H : Select loading from bin 2 of the cut-sheet feeder
n=34H : Enters cut-sheet feeder mode
n=41H : Select Auto cut mode on/off
n=42H : Loads paper from the rear tractor
n=43H : Feeds the paper to the tear-off position
n=46H : Loads paper from the front tractor
n=52H : Ejects one sheet of single-sheet paper
n=56H : Select ESC EM C command valid/Invalid
2) The parameter “0” and “4” that control cut-sheet feeder mode are non-recommended.
3) The bin selection is effect to the next sheet.
4) ESC EM R cancels one-line double-width printing selected with the SO or ESC SO
commands.
5) If n=43H and the vertical position is not TOF(Top Of Form), the printer does FF and feeds to
tear-off position same as tear-off switch.
10) If n=41H, it gets the next 1 byte as a following parameter. The next parameter m means as
follows.
m=00H : Auto cut mode invalid
m=01H : Auto cut mode valid
11) If n=56H, it gets the next 1 byte as a following parameter. The next parameter m means as
follows.
m=00H : Ignore ESC EM C command
m=01H :Not ignore ESC EM C command
