Frequently asked questions

The Handicare 950 stairlift is developed to carry one person, with a maximum weight of 140 kg (22.7 stone / 308 lbs). For hinged rail/slide rail types, the maximum weight is 120 kg (18.1 stone / 264 lbs).

To operate, ensure the on/off switch is 'ON', fold down the footplate and armrests, fasten the seat belt, turn the key switch clockwise, and then move and hold the joystick in the desired direction of travel.

In an emergency, press the emergency stop button once to stop the lift immediately. It can be released by turning the emergency button.

The lift stops automatically at the end of the rail. You can swivel the seat manually by pushing down the lever under the seat until it "clicks" into position. If you have the Automatic Swivel option, push and hold the joystick in the direction of travel.

A "0" on the diagnostic display can indicate that the seat is not locked and is in a swivelled position, or that the key-operated switch is in the off position. Refer to the FAULTFINDING section for specific solutions.

Your stairlift must be serviced at least once a year by a qualified person. If it has more than two users, a minimum of two services per year is recommended.
