Read these safety instructions carefully.

Keep this User Manual for later reference.

Disconnect this equipment from any AC outlet before cleaning. Use a damp cloth. Do not use liquid or spray detergents for cleaning.

4.

For plug-in equipment, the power outlet socket must be located near the equip

ment and must be easily accessible.

5.

Keep this equipment away from humidity.

6.

Put this equipment on a reliable surface during installation. Dropping it or letting it fall may cause damage.

7.

Do not leave this equipment in an unconditioned environment where the storage temperature is under 0 equipment.

If one of the following situations arises, get the equip¬ment checked by service personnel:

 The power cord or plug is damaged.

 Liquid has penetrated into the equipment.

 The equipment has been exposed to moisture.

 The equipment does not work well, or you cannot get it to work according to the user's manual.

 The equipment has been dropped and damaged.

 The equipment has obvious signs of breakage.

CAUTION: The computer is provided with a battery-powered, real-time clock circuit. There is a danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced.

Replace only with the same or an equivalent type recommended by the manu

facturer. Discard used batteries according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

(1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and

(2) This device must accept any interference received, including interference.

CAUTION: Always completely disconnect the power cord from your chassis whenever you work with the hardware. Do not make connections while the power is on. Sensitive electronic components can be damaged by sudden power surges.

CAUTION: Always ground yourself to remove any static charge before touching the mainboard, backplane, or add-on cards. Modern electronic devices are very sensitive to static electric charges. As a safety precaution, use a grounding wrist strap at all times. Place all electronic components on a static-dissipative surface or in a static-shielded bag when they are not in the chassis.

CAUTION: Any unverified component could cause unexpected damage. To ensure the correct installation, please always use the components (ex. screws) provided with the accessory box.

CAUTION: This product is not intended for use by children (this product is not a toy).

(1) This equipment is not suitable for use in locations where children are likely to be present.

CAUTION: Improper installation of VESA mounting can result in serious per

sonal injury! Use suitable mounting apparatus to avoid risk of injury. VESA mount installation should be operated by professional technician, please contact the service technician or your retailer if you need this service.

24.

Repair of the device may only be carried out by trained service personnel.

Advantech recommends that a service contract be obtained with Advantech

Service and that all repairs also be carried out by them. Otherwise the correct functioning of the device may be compromised.

CAUTION: Do not modify this equipment without authorization of the manufac

turer.

CAUTION: To avoid risk of electric shock, this equipment must only be con

nected to supply mains with protective earth.

CAUTION: Remove the power cord to fully turn off the device.

CAUTION: Monitor equipment (or display): It may endanger eyes when over

(1) Please take a rest for 10 minutes after using 30 minutes.

(2) Do not let the children under 2 years old watching the monitor (or display).

For children over (including) 2 years old, do not watch the monitor (od display) over 1 hour each day.

CAUTION: If the user does not follow the user manual to use the equipment, it will have risk to cause the bottom side opening of the equipment.

Cet appareil est conforme à la section 15 du règlement de la FCC. Le fonctionnement est soumis aux deux conditions suivantes:

Follow these simple precautions to protect yourself from harm and the products from damage:

To avoid electrical shock, always disconnect the power from your PC chassis before you work on it.

2.

For the sake of the equipment, disconnect power before making any configura

tion changes. The sudden rush of power as you connect a jumper or install a card may damage sensitive electronic components.

3.

Electronic components are also vulnerable to damage by electrostatic dis

charge. An electrostatic charge can build up on the human body, especially where the air is dry. At minimum, dissipate potential body charge before han

dling any electronic board by touching a conductive surface on the chassis.

Only then remove circuit boards from their anti-static bags. Handle boards by the edges or mounting brackets only; do not touch components or connecting pins.

Product Warranty / 产品质量保证 / 產品保固

Advantech warrants to you, the original purchaser, that each of its products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for two years from the date of pur

chase.

This warranty does not apply to any products which have been repaired or altered by persons other than repair personnel authorized by Advantech, or which have been subject to misuse, abuse, accident or improper installation. Advantech assumes no liability under the terms of this warranty as a consequence of such events.

Because of Advantech’s high quality-control standards and rigorous testing, most of our customers never need to use our repair service. If an Advantech product is defec

tive, it will be repaired or replaced at no charge during the warranty period. For outof-warranty repairs, you will be billed according to the cost of replacement materials, service time and freight. Please consult your dealer for more details.

If you think you have a defective product, follow these steps:

1.

Collect all the information about the problem encountered. (For example: CPU speed, Advantech products used, other hardware and software used, etc.) Note anything abnormal and list any on-screen messages you get when the problem occurs.

2.

Call your dealer and describe the problem. Please have your manual, product, and any helpful information readily available.

3.

If your product is diagnosed as defective, obtain an RMA (return merchandise authorization) number from your dealer. This allows us to process your return more quickly.

4.

Carefully pack the defective product, a fully completed Repair and Replacement

Order Card and a photocopy proof of purchase date (such as your sales receipt) in a shippable container. A product returned without proof of the purchase date is not eligible for warranty service.

5.

Write the RMA number visibly on the outside of the package and ship it prepaid to your dealer.

When you open the carton, please make sure that the following materials have been shipped:

 Chassis

 User Manual

 Warranty Card

 Accessory box with a package of screws (for fastening the motherboard, optical disk drive, other disk drivers, riser card, ears and handles, etc.), a stub copper, fan extended cables, Hard drive cables, GPU brackets and a pair of ears and handles.

If any of these items are missing or damaged, contact your distributor or sales repre

sentative immediately. We have carefully inspected the product mechanically and electrically before shipment. It should be free of marks and scratches and in perfect working order upon receipt. As you unpack the product, check it for signs of shipping damage. (For example, damaged box, scratches, dents, etc.) If it is damaged or fails to meet the specifications, notify our service department or your local sales represen

tative immediately. Also, please notify the carrier. Retain the shipping carton and packing material for inspection by the carrier. After inspection, we will make arrange

ments to repair or replace the unit.

Featuring the latest in industrial design, the HPC-7420 represents a breakthrough from the traditional, rigid concept of industrial PCs. The unique feature for HPC-7420 is it can support a maximum of 11 full-height full-length expansion slots in 450mm short-depth chassis. These flexible expansions can fulfill all expansion card requirements in both the IEM and AOI fields.

HPC-7420 series supports versatile EEATX/EATX/ATX motherboards, with highly efficient power supply switching. It provides two power options: 850W single power supply and 1+0 1200W non-redundancy power supply.

The following procedures instruct users on how to install a motherboard, a riser card, add-on cards, and disk drives into the chassis. Please also refer to “Appendix A:

Exploded Diagram and Parts List” for detailed parts of the chassis.

Removing the Cover / 移除顶盖 / 移除上蓋

To remove the cover, please proceed as instructed below:

1.

Unscrew 2 thumbscrews and 1 ground screw on the rear side (FAN side).

2.

Slide the top cover backwards and then lift it up (see Figure 2.1).

Installing the Motherboard / 安装母板 / 安裝主機板

HPC-7420 supports EEATX/EATX/ATX motherboards. To install the motherboard, please proceed as follows:

1.

Figure 2.2 shows the stub copper location for attaching the specific EEATX/

EATX/ATX motherboard. Users can find the stub copper in the accessory box.

Lock the stub copper into the correct location and then rotate counterclockwise to fasten it into the chassis (See Figure 2.3).

HPC-7420 支持 EEATX/EATX/ATX 主板。请按照以下步骤安装主板：

Attach the motherboard I/O shielding onto the rear plate first. Then fasten the motherboard onto the chassis (see Figure 2.3).

3.

Connect the 20-pin (or 24-pin) ATX power connector and the 8-pin / 4-pin +12 V power connector from the power supply to the motherboard, HDD BP, and sys

tem fan bracket.

4.

Connect the USB 2.0 wire, HDD LED wires, LAN LED wire, error LED wire

(depends on MB optional), power switch wire, and the system reset switch wire from the chassis to the motherboard.

2.

将主板的 I/O 屏蔽衬垫放在后面板上，然后把主板固定在机箱上（如图 2.3 所

3.

将电源的 20 针（或 24 针）ATX 电源界面和 8 针 /4 针 +12 V 电源接口连接

Drives Installation

HPC-7420 has second layer mechanism for all drives installation. It includes 3.5” drives, 2.5” drives and slim/ultra slim optical drive. Before installing all drives, please release the hold-on bar and the second layer mechanism. (See figure 2.4 and 2.5.)

HPC-7420 以层架式结构将硬盘设计于机箱内部的上方空间，以追求优化机箱内部空间

运用，3.5” 硬盘、2.5” 硬盘与光驱都设计于此结构上。在安装硬盘前，请先卸除层

架式结构与档杆 ( 如图 2.4 与 2.5 所示 )。

To install HDDs and ODD, please release the screws and brackets on the second layer metal part. See Figure 2.6. Area  for one internal 3.5” HDD or two external hot-swappable 2.5” HDD Trays; area  for optical drive; and area  for one internal

3.5” HDD or one 2.5” HDD or two 2.5” HDD.

Take out the 4 rubbers and 4 HDD screws in the accessory box.

2.

Put the 4 rubbers in the screw holes marked A (See Figure 2.7).

3.

Insert “98R1310010E” into proper position (See Figure2.8).

4.

Attach “98R1310010E” with the 3.5” HDD screws.

1.

Installing HDD in HDD Trays/ 安装硬盘于硬盘托盘/安裝硬碟於硬

1.

Press the key latch on the top of the HDD tray, then pull out the HDD tray from the HDD bay (See Figure 2.10).

2.

Slide the 2.5” disk drive into the proper location in the tray and fix it with 4 screws (See Figure 2.11).

3.

Return and push the HDD tray to the chassis until the handle on the tray can move back.

4.

Repeat Steps 1 to 3 if the second 2.5” HDD needs to be installed.

1.

按下硬盘抽取托盘上方的固定按键后将硬盘抽取托盘拉出 ( 如图 2.10 所示 )。

2.

将 2.5” 硬盘固定于硬盘抽取托盘上并透过锁附四个螺丝固定 ( 如图 2.11 所示

Installing ODD/ 安装 ODD/ 安裝 ODD

HPC-7420 provides 1 internal slim/ultra ODD module. To install the ODD module, please refer to the following instructions:

1.

To install the slim ODD module, please release the screws on top of slim ODD brackets. See Figure 2.5.

2.

Insert the slim ODD module in to the proper location in the bracket and secure them with the screws provided. See Figure 2.12.

3.

Return the slim ODD module with brackets into the original position and fasten it with the screws.

4.

Connect the suitable SATA cable and power cable from the motherboard to the slim ODD module.

HPC-7420 支持 1 个光驱模块 , 请参考以下指示安装光驱模块：

1.

安装光驱时，请卸下光驱支架上的螺丝 ( 如图 2.5 所示 )。

2.

HPC-7420 supports 11 full-height/full-length PCIe expansion cards. Please refer to the following instructions:

1.

To install the PCIe expansion card, please release the hold-on bar at first. See

Figure 2.19.

2.

Release the screws on each PCIe bracket that plan to add PCIe cards. See Fig

ure 2.20.

3.

Insert the full-height/full-length PCIe expansion card in to the proper location in the chassis and secure it with the screws provided.

4.

Take out the rubbers in accessory box and assembly the it in proper position refers to PCIe cards.

5.

Assembly hold-on bar with rubbers back to the chassis. See Figure 2.21.

ity LED glows steady Green. If it fails to light up, check the SAS / SATA connection.

The Rear Panel / 后面板 / 後面板

HPC-7420 is designed with one whole FAN bracket with a filter for three internal system fans adapted for harsh working environments. The two thumbscrews in the top area can also be undone to make system fan maintenance easier.

HPC-7420 also has a two bracket design in the rear panel for an LED board and 2 ports USB 2.0 ports. It can exchange the LED board from front panel to this area and choose one USB3.0 cable as an optional kit to implement. See below figure 3.5 for detail illustration.

HPC-7420 设计了一整面完整的风扇支架用于组装三颗内部的系统风扇 , 并透过内建

的过滤海绵使 HPC-7420 可以适应于恶劣的工作环境之中。后面板上方设计了两颗手

悬螺丝让风扇的维护不须使用工具即可完成，使风扇维护工作变得更加便利。

后面板的左方设计了两个半破孔的檔片用于将前面板的灯板移至安装于后面板并安装
