Connecting and Setting Up a Nokia 6210/6250
Mobile Phone with a 5700 GPS Receiver
This document describes how you can configure and set up a Nokia (6210 or 6250 GSM) mobile phone to work as a rover with a 5700 GPS receiver; using Trimble Survey Controller™.
To connect the Nokia phone to the 5700 GPS receiver, you need to create a cable that lets you communicate with the phone.
Equipment
You will need the following equipment:
•
5700 Rover kit
•
Nokia 6210 or a Nokia 6250 GSM module (SIM card needs to be opened for data)
•
Nokia cable (Type DLR-3P)
•
Lemo 7p Digital CBL Assy, P/N:37780-00
•
DB9 male connector
Procedure
1. Make the cable between the 5700 GPS receiver and the Nokia mobile phone. This can be done by using a Lemo 7p Digital CBL Assy, P/N:37780-00 rev A cable, which has a 7pin Lemo connector in one end and open wires in the other end.
2. Solder the following wires to the DB9 Male connector:
•
Orange wire to pin 3
•
Yellow wire to pin 2
•
Brown wire to pin 5
•
Short pin 4 and 6
•
Short pin 7 and 8
Alternatively, if you have a 7-pin lemo connector and a DB9 male connector, you can
Create the same cable with this diagram:
Lemo 7 pin DB9 Male
Pin 3 Tx------------------------------------------------Pin 3
Pin 7 Rx------------------------------------------------Pin 2
Pin 1 GND---------------------------------------------Pin 5
Pin 4 --- Pin 6
Pin 7 --- Pin 8
