FAQ Answers Road Stakeout LAND SURVEY 16 June, 1998 Trimble Confidential With Survey Controller™ Software V6.5 What is the Road Stakeout option in the Trimble Survey Controller software? Road stakeout is a standard option in the Trimble Survey Controller V6.5 software. It is accessed through the Stakeout / Road menu. The option allows for road definitions transferred from the RoadLink module of Trimble Survey Office™ software V1.1 to be staked out by station and offset. The advantage of staking out from the uploaded definition is that you can select any station and offset for stakeout. This is useful when you cannot get to the particular point you want to stakeout. For example you may want to stakeout station 14+20.00 but due to construction activity the station is unavailable. When staking from the road definition you can enter a nominal station value that is clear of the construction, (say 14+23.00), and the Survey Controller software will calculate the new position. A second advantage of staking out using the road definition is that it takes up less space in the handheld than the coordinates defining the road. Does Survey Controller Roading support Superelevation and widening? Yes both options are supported. Is this option integrated with the standard Survey Controller software? Yes, the Stakeout / Road option is fully integrated with Survey Controller V6.5. OK but what if I am on a superelevated curve, curve, will the Survey Controller correctly calculate my new position on a superelevated curve? Yes, all calculations respect the horizontal and vertical alignment geometry, and any superelevation and widening that may be specified. Can I stake catch points with Survey Controller Roading? Yes, they are dynamically calculated in the field. Can I apply construction offsets? Yes, both a horizontal and vertical offset can be applied to staked positions including catch points. Can I view my road graphically? Yes, the horizontal alignment annotated with Station can be viewed in the standard map view. Can I use multiple roads in one job? Yes, there is no limit to the number of roads that can be stored in a job. What aspects of a transferred road definition can I edit? You can edit the station interval, the code of template elements and the value of the ditch offset.
