INSTALLATION
The Typical System shown above is a guide to the
equipment needed for an automatic spraying system.

and cylinder air.
Connect a fluid hoseIB) to the gun's 3/8 npsm fluid inlet.
Mount the gun (AI on
a in. (12 mml diameter rod

mounting fixture which allows you to adjust the spray RECOMMENDED HOSE SIZES (General Purpose)
pattern direction and the gun's distance from the work.
Blow out the fluid lines(6)with air then flush with solvent to remove dirt and contaminants before connecting to the system.
Be sure the compressed air supply is very clean and dry.
Install an air filter (C) to remove harmful dirt and
moisture, which can affect the appearance of your
finished workpiece.
Install a normally closed, 3-way air solenoid valve (Dl
in the cylinder air supply line (El. Connect an air hose
from the solenoid valve to the gun's 1/4 npsm(m)
cylinder air inlet.
Connect an atomizing air supply line IF) t o the gun's
1/4 npsm atomizing air inlet.

NOTE:
The gun requiresa minimum of40 psi (3 bar)
air pressure to the cylinder. The atomizing
air pressure is generally43-57 Dsi 13-4 barl.
The fluid pressure supply is normally 10 to
15 psi (0.7 to 1.0 bar).
NOTE:
The external inlet threads of this gun are
combination American NPSM and British
Whitworth pipe thread to allow coupling
either type of female swivel unions.

Strain or filter the paint to remove
coarse particles and
sediment, then check the viscosity
of your paint. Refer
t o chart on page 8 for proper viscosity.
Install the air cap.
Normal Spray Pattern
Proper adjustment will give spray

Adjusting The Spray Pattern
To clean the gun, flush with a compatible solvent until
all traces of paint are removed from the gun passages.
To minimize overspray, adjust the pattern for each part Wipe the outside of the gun clean with a solvent
being coated.
dampened cloth.
For maximum flow,leave the fluid adjustingknob in the
full open position.
The air adjusting screw (271controls the patternshape,
the fluid adjusting screw(181 controls the volume of
fluid output, and the atomizing
air regulator controls the
degree of atomization.
To adjust the panern. turn theair adjusting screw (271
out Icounterclockwise)t o make the spray pattern wider
and flat, or in (clockwise1 to
decrease to a round pattern.
To adjust the volume of fluid output for pressure feed,
turn the fluid adjusting screw(18) out all of the way
(counterclockwise). Then adjustthe air pressure at the
fluid supply until thedesired fluid flow is obtained. For
the final adjustment, turn the fluid adjustingvalve in
of fluid output and ob(clockwise) to reduce the volume
tain the desired results.
.NOTE:
If the fluid adjusting
valve is turned inall the
way, the gun will emit only
air.
Test spray a pattern. Adjust the
air pressure to the gun
until proper atomization is achieved.
NOTE:
Always use the lowest possible atomizing
air
pressure to obtain the desired results.
CAUTION
...:,. ,.
.:
.. .
Never immerse the gun in solvent. Prolonged exposure to solvent damages the packings. Never
use metal instruments to clean holes inairthe
cap
or fluid nozzle to avoid scratches.which can distort
the sprav pattern.
~~
~
~~~
If the air cap needs cleaning, removeit from the gun,
soak in solvent and scrub with fine bristled brush.To
clean out holes in the
air cap, use a toothpick or other
soft implement to avoid damaging critical
surfaces.
Pressure Relief Procedure
To reduce the risk of serious bodily injury. including splashing in the eyes
or on theskin, or injury from moving parts, always follow this procedure before checking or servicing any part of
the spray system, before installing, cleaning or
changing fluid nozzles, and whenever you stop
spraying.
1. Turn off theair and fluid supply to the gun.
2. Trigger the gun into a grounded metal waste
container to relieve air and fluid pressure.
. .
Maintenance
Lubricate the exposed portion ofthe fluid needle 137)
daily; petroleum jelly works well.
For short term operations, patternsize may be reduced
by turning the air and fluid adjusting screws in
Iclockwise).
