Frequently asked questions

To install the drivers on Windows, switch off the CAMAC crate, insert the CC-USB, then turn on the crate. Insert the software CD-ROM, run the setup program in the XXUSBWin_Install folder, and define the installation directory. Connect the CC-USB via USB; when the New Hardware Wizard opens, choose 'installation from specific location,' manually search for and select the 'CC-USB.inf' file from your CD-ROM drive to complete the installation.

To upgrade the firmware, switch the firmware selector on the CC-USB front panel to one of the four programming positions (P1-P4). Start the XXUSBWin program, navigate to the Flash ROM Operations page, and click 'program' to open and select the latest firmware file (xxx.bit). After the upgrade is complete, you must reset the controller or switch the selector to the corresponding run location (C1-C4) and power cycle the crate.

Communication with the CC-USB involves writing and reading buffers of data to and from its USB2 port using bulk-transfer mode. Out Packets are sent to pipe 0 to communicate with internal devices like the Register Block, CAMAC Readout Stacks, and the NAF Generator, while In Packets are read from pipe 2, containing requested data from the Common Output Buffer.
