Schneider Electric XBT-L1OMR01, SYSMAC-WAY Protocol Instruction Sheet
Schneider Electric XBT-L1OMR01, SYSMAC-WAY Protocol enables easy communication between a MAGELIS XBT (master) and process controllers supporting the SYSMAC-WAY protocol (slave) from OMRON. It provides various capabilities, including:
-
Data exchange and control: The XBT-L1OMR01 allows the XBT to read and write data from/to the PLC, enabling control and monitoring of the connected devices.
-
Configuration flexibility: The protocol's dialog table can be tailored to specific application requirements, allowing for customization of the data exchange process.
-
Comprehensive device support: The XBT-L1OMR01 supports a wide range of XBT terminals, ensuring compatibility with various MAGELIS devices.

1 - Installing the Protocol: Start up XBT L1000
CAUTION
EQUIPMENT DAMAGE HAZARD
The protocol should only be installed and used by authorized and properly trained personnel.
Failure to follow this instruction can result in injury, equipment damage or production loss.
Two scenarios:
- If no protocol has been installed, the "Install Protocol" dialog box opens automatically.
- If a protocol has already been installed, you can update the previous version or install another protocol. Close all open applications in XBT L1000 then select the File/Install
Protocol menu.

2 - Operating Principle
XBT is Master.
The XBT operating principle is based on a "dialog table" which is situated in the PLC
(slave).
XBT in its capacity as master performs 3 types of action:
- initiated by the PLC,
- initiated by the operator,
- self-initiated.
All OMRON process controllers use the SYSMAC-WAY protocol as the communication protocol.
The XBT can be connected in point-to-point mode to the PLC using the RS232 connector, or an RS422 network can be used to connect up to 32 PLCs. (The RS422 network option is not available for XBT N/R terminals).
The MAGELIS XBT (master) sends read/write requests to the PLC (slave) which executes the requests and replies.
In the SYSMAC-WAY protocol the terminal communicates in ASCII mode
