Nexio® Config
User Guide Overview
Overview
The Nexio® Config application provides an easy to use interface for setting channel and codec configurations for your Nexio® hardware device. Nexio Config is included as part of your Nexio server system software. The Nexio Config shortcut icon displays on your desktop when you boot up the server.
Use the UI
If you are working with an existing Nexio system, Nexio Config will display showing your current system settings.
Settings Modes
Settings are grouped into 3 modes. When you choose a mode, the different settings are shown on the
UI.

Nexio® Config
User Guide Overview
When you open Nexio Config for the first time, it shows the Initial Setup display. After that, whenever you open a Nexio Config session, the software "remembers" your most recent activity and displays the last settings used on the system.
Initial Setup - Initial settings contain IP addresses and automation modes that are normally set during system commissioning. These are rarely changed after they are set the first time.
General Settings - General settings contain channel configurations and audio/video settings that may change from time to time.
Advanced Settings - Advanced settings contain a list of registry settings that may be used infrequently.
These should only be changed by very experienced Installation Professionals with the advice of
Customer Support.

GENSAN Setup
GENSAN is a storage integration product which allows Nexio and Versio systems to connect to generic third-party network-attached storage (NAS).
If you select GENSAN from the Raid configuration drop-down menu, new fields appear specifically for
GENSAN. Use the controls to configure your system.
Note: All fields are case-sensitive.
GenSanSource MediaDir: This is the name of the folder which contains all your MOV media files on your NAS storage hardware. Do not include the network path, only the folder name (for example,
Media).
GenSanSource NetworkShare: The UNC main path to the shared folder (MediaDir) on your NAS storage hardware. Do not add the actual folder name to the path. For example, if your shared folder is at \\Storage\share\Media, only enter \\Storage\share
DirSync File Copy: This is responsible for the File Copy functionality. When a clip is directly copied to the Media Directory folder, DirSync acknowledges the new media and it will be seen globally within the Nexio Mediabase.
No more than three nodes may have File Copy enabled within your Nexio domain. We recommend enabling File Copy on nodes used for File Transfer activity.
Note: For further details about GENSAN setup requirements, consult the GENSAN User Guide.

Enable this option to protect from deletion any clips which are currently loaded in a channel.
Caution: enabling this option sometimes interferes with the ability of automation controllers to manage their list of media.
Enable this option to force the playback of clips to stop at the end of media, even if the automation controller explicitly set an outpoint beyond the end of media.
Caution: enabling this can lead to non-standard protocol responses.
Enable this option typically only for sports applications.
When set to 1, it allows the controller to play clips currently in record closer to the most recently recorded frames. This option should not be enabled for channels using stacked playback of media.

This option allows you to enhance the smooth playback of media at higher speeds.
By default, media played faster than 156% starts to drop frames and cut off audio playback. This option allows you to increase it as high as 400%. However increasing this value also increases the storage bandwidth load. Be certain your total storage bandwidth limits are not at risk before increasing this value.
This value indicates the delay (in fields) between when a controller sends the LLM a
Play command and the previously cued up media actually starts playing. Adjust this value only if the controller requires a longer delay.
This value indicates the delay (in fields) between when a controller sends the LLM a
Record command and the preciously cued up media actually starts recording. Adjust this value only if the controller requires a longer delay.
This defines the timecode source input for media timing.
Nexio Domain/Free-Run: Select this if another Nexio in the domain is responsible for managing timecode source or if the Nexio should use local computer clock time.
RS-232 LTC: Select this if external LTC is being fed to the local Nexio. Only two Nexios in a single domain should have timecode input and they must be from the same source.
NTP: Select this to use network timecode protocol as the source of Nexio timecode.

The three tabs for VITC1, VITC2, and LTC define if and where any timecode data will be embedded into the output signal of a playing clip.
If Discontinuous Timecode was selected for the Legacy drop-down item, all three settings will be disabled. If SOM-based
Timecode is selected, these settings define the ancillary data line or lines where the timecode will be embedded.
If the selected channel is SD, only the
VITC1 tab is enabled. Determine if timecode will be embedded into the signal by selecting Enabled or Disabled.
If Enabled, select the VITC line desired and if the timecode should also appear on a secondary output line.
If the selected channel is 1080i, all three tabs are enabled. For each determine if the timecode should be inserted into the horizontal or vertical ancillary data, which Field (1 or 2), and on which actual ancillary line.
The progressive resolutions are the same as 1080i except there is no

AFD
Blanking Control selection of field number.
These settings affect how and if AFD is generated and passed out in the ancillary data of clips playing out of the selected channel.
The options for SMPTE-2016 and ATSC
TSG-814 determine which AFD standard to apply for a few different aspect ratio conversions.
The Strip option will automatically strip off any existing AFD data.
The Protected checkbox applies a special "Shoot and Protect" mode to certain AFD formats.
If you are not stripping existing AFD, you can select the desired AFD Mode based on the three options:
Pass: Retains existing AFD data on playout.
Generate: Creates new AFD data based on existing ARC settings selected when there is no existing AFD data.
Replace: Rverwrites any existing AFD data and creates new data based on existing ARC settings.
AFD Line defines the ancillary data line used for the AFD data.
This option defines what should happen to the playout signal of a channel when playing a clip and reaching the end of the media:
0: The channel displays the last frame of the clip.
1: The channel displays black.
2: The channel displays black both at the end of the clip and when it is first loaded.
