CHI UAE H TR DK -6- • Safety precautions • The machine is designed for cutting stacks of paper to a specified size. This machine is constructed for "one-man operation" only! Warning! Clips or similar damage the cutting blade. Disconnect from the mains before starting any service work or before removing the panels! Replacement of blade and cutting stick may be performed only when the main switch is switched off! -7- • Safety precautions • EBA 4850 EP All components which could endanger the operator are covered by a guard! A A A Operating the machine without safety device is forbidden! (Front safety guard (A), rear screwed safety guard (B) and panel (C). B C A C -8- • Safety precautions • The dangerous cutting movement is safeguarded by a movable guard (A) and a safety two-handed control system! (B) B A A Before working with the machine and after every blade replacement the automatic cut-off function of safety guard (A),(correct if distance between cover and table is < 20 mm) main switch (B) and control panel (C) must be checked. C B ≤20mm ≤0.79inch -9- • Safety precautions • EBA 4850 EP Protect mains cable against heat, oil and sharp edges! 230V / 10A min 115V / 15A min Connect the power cord to a single phase socket. Ensure free access to mains! - 10 - • Safety precautions • When not in use for a longer period switch off. (Main switch to "0"). Danger! Blade must always be covered by the pressing bar OK Clamping Blade OK - 11 - • Installation • EBA 4850 EP Remove the stand from the wooden pallet. 4 strong people are required to lift the machine from the pallet and place it on the stand. Secure with 4 screws (A). Put the shelf (B) on the stand. (Parts and tools are in the tool set (C). B 4x A C - 12 - • Installation • Plug into socket. - 13 - • Operation • EBA 4850 EP It is forbidden to operate the machine if the operating and safety instructions have not been understood. Please check the safety devices are functioning and complete before use. • All covers have to be mounted (A). • The release for cutting is allowed only if the cover is closed and the two-hand safety device is operated at the same time (B) • If the front cover closes by itself the gas spring (X) needs replacing. A A We recommend you keep a record of your test results. A B B X - 14 - • Operation • Position the main switch to "I" (A). Insert the key for the control system and move it to the right (B). Open the safety guard (C). The machine is now ready for use. Press button (D). Machine will automatically go to the start position. D S B C A B The measurement is set either with the handwheel (A) or by programming (B) the cutting measurements. Measurement is shown on the display in inches or cm (B). A - 15 - • Operation • EBA 4850 EP A B B A C Optical cutting line (A) that indicates the exact position of the cut. Blade cuts on the front edge (B) of the light beam. (Only use when no exact cut is required). Position the paper on the backgauge (A) and side lays left or right (B). To move paper stacks, please use the paper knock-up block (C) provided. (Run backgauge to the front for turning the paper stack). B - 16 - • Operation • The clamp moves automatically when cutting is activated. The paper can also be pressed in advance. Clamping and cutting is activated by pressing button (A) on the front table. A + = Pre-clamping + = Clamp returns + = Cutting sequence with automatic clamping - 17 - • Operation • EBA 4850 EP Close the safety guard. Cutting activation: Press both buttons of the two-handed control system activation (A) simultaneously and them pressed until the paper is completely cut. Open the front safety guard • Press button backgauge moves to the rear and searches for the reference position, wait until a measurement is shown in the display EBA 4850 EP = 45 cm, 17,72 inches G A N S H D. Warning! Before storing or cutting a measurement please check if the correct measurement scale (cm or inch) see above is stored. For information on how to store see picture below left. Cutting to specified dimensions • Enter dimension on the numerical key pad LED "S" appears. (If a wrong dimension is entered this can be corrected by pressing the button). button dimension is • Press approached, LED "S" disappears. F I. - 20 - H F • Operation • Only EP machines. • The further the hand-wheel F is turned to the right, the quicker the backgauge moves. If the hand-wheel is turned to the left the backgauge will return quicker. • Close the front safety guard • Release the cut. A. Eject function , If button j is pressed instead of button after inserting the measurement , the backgauge will advance forwards so that paper can be removed. Finally the backgauge moves to the last setting. M SO Q Adjust the eject-dimension • Press , hold, and press e on display. • Insert the desired dimension. (Standard is 20 cm). • Store dimension. • + Escape the program mode. p T g p s Program buttons b and j programs Press , hold, and press b (ö appears on the display) or Press , hold, and press j (Ü appears on the display) • Enter the desired dimension (For example: 29,7 cm x 21 cm can be entered for DIN A4) • Store dimension. p p g Display in cm or inch display changes between cm and inch (see page 20). • Press i Cutting activation Warning! • Run backgauge to the front for turning the paper stack. • Do not interrupt the upward movement of the blade by performing switching procedures. • Release blade only when LED "S" has gone out. • Close the front safety guard . • Blade must always be at the top and be covered by the clamp. Do not touch the blade. (see safety information on page 33). Risk of injury! X A - 21 - • Operation • EBA 4850 EP Multiple cut • Enter the multiple cut size on the display • Advance to the measurement with the button. • Push the paper to the backgauge . • Press button the red LED "M " light will be on. • Enter the multiple cut size. • After cutting has been activated press button. Every time the button is pressed, the backgauge will advance by the multiple cut size. • Pressing the button shows the actual size. Q. S I T Y S S s N Exiting program-mode • Press button LED "M " on the display. T - 22 - Y is cleared • Operation • Programming Only IDEAL 4850-95EP, IDEAL 5221-95EP, DEAL 6550-95EP This control system enables you to store 99 programs with 99 programmable steps. One step represents one measurement. After entering the program numbers you are able to change between several program steps with the button j and b . First figure on display = program number. Second figure = program step. Should an ejection be desired before this cut press , hold, and press . • Store the dimension next program step appears. • Should the entered program be required (program is closed). immediately press Press again (backgauge moves to the dimension of the first program). V G g W p g S p s - 23 - K T S • Operation • EBA 4850 EP Eject function program The eject function can be added each time a measurement is entered and ejects before advancing to the next measurement. An eject at the end of a program must be programmed in the first step at the program. If the dimension and eject function are stored in the program step the program number appears on the display . Enter program number 01 ... 99. Top number on display = program number. Lower number = program step. • Enter the cut size on the display . • Store the dimension. • Enter multiple cut size. Press button E and multiple cut size appears on the display. Press button again F ..... N. • Store the dimension. • + Escape the program mode. Enter program number 01 ... 99 With the button j and b you are able to change between several program steps. With the backgauge moves to the indicated dimension. With the backgauge stops. p 01 99 S s General LED "S" lights Cut is blocked. LED "S" is off the actual dimension appears. In the program mode the ejection of paper j is not possible. The ejection of paper has to be programmed. Escape the program mode • Press "X" appears on the display. • Press escape the program mode. p s - 26 - • Blade and cutting stick replacement • If the cutting quality decreases: • Check the cutting depth (see page 35). • Check the cutting stick (see page 31). • Replace or grind the blade (see page 27 - 35). The blade cannot be ground if the blade height is less than 83 mm/3,29 inches. A new blade must be used. The blade may only be ground by a qualified supplier or from the manufacturer Krug & Priester, D-72336 Balingen. Danger! Risk of injury! The blade is extremely sharp. Do not extract or transport the blade without protection. Changing the blade may only be performed by trained staff. - 27 - • Blade and cutting stick replacement • EBA 4850 EP Turn the blade depth adjustment screw to the left until it stops. (Screwdriver found in tool set (A). Close the safety guard (1.). Lower the blade by pressing both cutting buttons (2.). Keep one button pressed and turn off the main switch (3.). - 28 - • Blade and cutting stick replacement • The 3 eccentrics are now exposed and should be turned counter clockwise to position "0" with the special wrench and attachable extension pipe (A) (in the tool set). The slot must correspond to position "0" (B). Unscrew the blade screws (C) on the right hand side. C A It is essential that this procedure is performed so that the knife stands in the correct position, see A. (If this process is not performed the knife could cause injury). Follow these steps: Turn the blade depth adjustment screw left until it stops, lower the blade by pressing both cutting buttons, adjust the 3 eccentrics to position '0', unscrew the blade screws, use the blade changing tool to remove the old blade, install the new blade (ensuring 11mm space), and tighten the screws. Test cut and adjust depth if needed.
