You protect yourself and avoid damage of your appliance. The appliance must be installed by a qualified electrician. Use the hob only upon its installation. This protects you from touching electric parts. Repairs of electric appliances must be undertaken by qualified electricians only. Improper repairs can cause serious harm and danger for the user. The appliance is only disconnected from the mains when the fuse is turned off or the mains connection is interrupted. Prevent little children from touching the cook top when in use. Children also can burn themselves by pulling pans or pots off the hob. The cooking zones heat up quickly when they are turned on. Turn them on only when you have placed a cooking pan onto the cooking area. The residual heat indicator lights up to show if a cooking zone is still running resp. is still hot. If you use a socket close to the hob, take care that the cable of the appliance does not touch the hot surface of the hob. Do not deposit any items on the hob's surface. The items you place on the hob could easily catch fire when turning on the hob accidentally. Never leave the hob unattended when working with oil and fats because of the danger of fire. Never use plastic or aluminium foil dishes. They melt at high temperatures and damage the hob surface. Sugar (solid or liquid) as well as plastic should never get onto the hot surface of the hob. Fissures and cracks may appear when the hob cools down. Spills of sugar or melted plastic material must be removed while the hob is still warm and before the remains have set. Scrape off the remains of sugar or plastic with a scraper. Protect your hands. Use only pans with flat bases without rough edges to avoid remaining scratches 4 The ceramic hob surface is resistant to extreme temperatures. Neither cold nor heat can harm it. Avoid to drop anything on the hob. Punctiform impacts, e.g. by the fall of a salt shaker, can cause fissures and cracks. A defective hob surface allows overboiling food to penetrate and the contact with live parts. If any cracks appear on the hob surface, the hob has to be switched off immediately. Only the cooking zone which is switched on will be heated up. The remaining surface will not get hot. Control panel The hob CC 3085 can be combined with the control panel CP 218. Heat control knobs The control knobs enable the regulation from 1-10 of the heating capacity. The control knobs for the one-circuit (as well as for the inner circle of the two-circuit cooking zone) can be turned to the left and to the right. Setting it back to "0" turns off the cooking zone. Double circuit cooking zone If the second circle of the two-circuit cooking zones (No.2 and 3) is needed, the control knob concerned has to be turned over position "10" to the final stop from where it automatically springs back to position "10". The temperature can now be controlled by turning back the knob in the opposite direction to the wanted position. Setting it back to "0" turns off the cooking zone. Halogene cooking zone The halogene cooking zone is heated up very rapidly compared to the normal one-circuit cooking zone. It can be compared with a gas cooking zone, without having its inconveniences. When switched on the halogene lamps immediately effect their full heating power. Use the halogene cooking zone to heat up food quickly. 6 H OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Warming zone The warming zone will be turned on and off by the touch control unit located on the ceramic surface in front of the warming zone. By touching the corresponding field, "1" resp. "0", it will be switched on resp. turned off. Residual heat indicator Each cooking zone is related to one indicator. The warning lamp lights up when the surface of the corresponding cooking zone reaches a temperature which could cause burning. This lamp remains lit after the heated-up area has been switched off as long as the residual heat of the corresponding cooking surface can cause burnings. The light will only extinguish when there is no more danger (temperature below 50°C). The remaining heat should be used to get food readycooked or keep food warm. COOKING EQUIPMENT Specially tested cooking and frying pans for ceramic hobs exist. Pay attention to the according sign. Cooking pans with aluminium or copper bottoms are unsuitable for use. These materials can cause stains that can not be removed anymore. right The following advice should be considered to achieve an optimal energy consumption as well as to avoid that overboiling food can be burnt onto the cooking zones. Bottom of pans: Cooking and frying pans should have a flat and solid base. A base with rough edges can scratch and leave abrasion marks on the ceramic surface! Ask for electric cooking pans. Size of pans: Pan or pot diameters should be a little bit larger than the diameter of the cooking zone. wrong Lid of pans: A lid prevents heat to escape. 7 MAINTENANCE The maintenance remains the same for glass and ceramic hobs. Never use aggressive detergents or scouring powder and sponges with abrasive surfaces. Cleaning after each use Slight, not burnt soiling has to be wiped off with a damp cloth without using detergents. The use of detergents may lead to discolouring. These heavy stains can not be wiped off easily by the first attempt and sometimes not even with a special detergent. Burnt soiling has to be removed with a scraper. Afterwards wipe off the ceramic hob with a damp cloth. Stain removal Light metallic stains (aluminium remains) can be removed from the cooled down cooking zone with a special detergent. Calcareous deposits (caused by overboiling water) can be removed with vinegar or a special detergent. Removal of sugar, sugar-containing food, plastic objects or kitchen foil The cooking zone involved must not be turned off! The remains have to be scraped off the hot cooking zone immediately with a scraper. The cooking zone can be switched off after the removal of the soiling. It may be cleaned with a special detergent after it has cooled down. The mentioned detergents are available in supermarkets, electrical shops, drug stores, grocery stores and kitchen studios. Scrapers are available in craft shops and department stores as well as in decoration stores. Do not apply detergents on hot cooking zones. Best is to the detergent dry on the surface and to wipe it off with a damp cloth. If there are remains of cleaning agents wipe them off before you turn on the heat again. Remains could corrode. ELECTROLUX declines any liability should the appliance be used improperly and the safety measures not be observed. 8 INSTALLATION 1 . Cut out worktop to prescribed measurements (fig.1) or templates (saw exactly along the scribing) and fasten the fixing springs in the cutout with the enclosed screws. Position the springs according to the enclosed template. The upper part of the ressort is the spacing stop. fig.1 2 . The working plate must be clean. Check seal for perfect fit and overall cover. Lower the ceramic hob into the cut-out. Press firmly on one side then on the opposite side to snap-in the unit (fig.2). A sealing is glued onto the frame so there is no need for further sealing material (important for the removal in case of a defect). min. 30 mm fig.3 43 mm Attention: If installed in stone, ceramic tiles or lava worktops (fig.3), the fixing ressorts will not be fastened. Instead, silicone will be put under the cover frame. To avoid that silicone runs down between the glass ceramic hob and the worktop (fig.4 - pos.1) a sealing will be glued to the ceramic hob (fig.4 - pos.2). The sealing can be ordered free of charge under article no. 374 016102. 43 mm The installation of electrical appliances must be undertaken by qualified electricians only. Improper repairs can cause serious harm and danger for users. The protection against accidental contact must be ensured by proper installation. (See paragraph of power limitation.) fig.2 min. 30 mm The installation of the corresponding control box or oven will be carried out according to separate instuctions. In order to protect the appliance from damage only ovens or control boxes which are approved by the manufacturer must be connected to the ceramic hob. The distance between the underside of the hob and the furniture beneath must be at least 20 mm (fig.5). Attention: If there are any repairs to be effected, the appliance must be non-tensioned. If any fissures or cracks appear on the hob's surface the hob has to be switched off immediately. Disconnect the appliance from the mains and inform the service department. fig.4 pos.1 pos.2 In terms of fire protection, the appliance conforms to Type Y (IEC 335-2-6). Only appliances of this type may be installed on one side of adjacent upright furniture housings or walls. Important for the removal of the hob 1. Disconnect the appliance from the mains. 2. In order to take out the whole glassceramic hob, use a medium flat screwdriver or spatula. Put it in between the frame and worktop on the area where the snapin ressorts are located. 3. Then slightly lift the unit out. Take care not to damage the worktop. fig.5 20 9 PROBLEM DETECTION AND REPAIR DEVICE Repairs on electrical appliances must be undertaken by qualified electricians only. Improper repairs can cause serious harm and danger for users. The appliance is only disconnected from the mains when the fuse is turned off or the mains connection is interrupted You are able to clear the following defects: When the cooking zone does not heat up after you switched it on? =>Make sure that the fuse is turned on. You hear a buzzing when you heat up a zone? =>This is no defect. It stops with increasing heat. Discolouring of a cooking zone? => This is not a change in the material but burnt and not removed food remains. They do not affect the function and the durability of the ceramic hob. Attention! If any fissures or cracks appear on the hob's surface the hob has to be switched off immeditately. Disconnect the appliance from the mains and inform the service department. Important!
