ENGLISH
Thank you for purchasing an AstraPool swimming pool immersion detection system.
This swimming pool immersion detector is compliant with French standard NF P90-307/A1.
WARNINGS
This alarm system is not a replacement for common sense or individual responsibility.
Its purpose is not to be a replacement for vigilance by a parent or responsible adult, which
remains the vital factor in protecting children under the age of 5.
This alarm is a protective device which signals a danger (or danger risk). A responsible adult
must take quick action within 3 minutes of the sounding of the alarm signal. By responsible adult,
we mean an adult who knows how to take account of the danger, knows how to swim, and is
capable of rescuing someone in the pool.
In no event can your retailer or the manufacturer of the alarm system be held responsible for
any person or animal falling or drowning. In no event must the installation of your alarm system
reduce your vigilance or replace active monitoring of the swimming pool and the area around it.
You must always check that the alarm can be heard from the residence/living quarters.
Depending on the layout of the residence/living quarters in relation to the swimming pool,
it may be necessary to move the safety, alarm and failure signals so they can be heard from
the dwelling/living quarters. This must be checked during installation. Should it be necessary
to complement your immersion detector with a remote siren, you should install a Remota™
remote sound alarm.
CONTACT YOUR RETAILER FOR ADVICE
Regularly check the water level in your pool, especially when the weather is very hot, or rainy,
or if it has been windy for several days. To ensure proper operation of your immersion
detector, the immersion level must imperatively be 15cm (+/– 3cm). If you do not follow these
instructions your immersion detector will not work properly.
Place permanent signs to inform people that the pool and the area around it are monitored
electronically.
The magnets must be kept out of the reach of children.
The performance as defined in standard NF P90-307/A1 is not guaranteed beyond wind levels
greater than those specified in this standard.

2. Operating principle
How does Sun™ / Confort™ work?
Thanks to its on-board technology, your immersion detector continuously monitors the condition
of the pool. In case of a fall into your swimming pool, your immersion detector sets off its siren in
accordance with the requirements of French standard NF P90-307/A1.
You must deactivate the surveillance of your immersion detector before having a swim. (see item 4.1)
After your swim, your immersion detector automatically resumes monitoring of the pool as soon
as it has become still again. (see item 4.2)
The new Sun™/Confort™ technology includes a pool continuous analysis system.

3.3. Choice of location
Your fall detector must be positioned in the center of the greatest length of your swimming
pool, on a coping (position recommended for rectangular swimming pools). If your pool does not
correspond to the configurations shown below, ask your retailer for advice.
Ensure that the central unit is more than one meter away from the filtration system
(return fittings, waste plug, skimmer, vacuum fittings, etc.) or waterfall or any other
device that may disturb the pool at this place.
Your immersion detector is designed and configured in compliance with standard
NF P90-307/A1, and can be used on pools with maximum dimensions of 10 x 5 meters.
Your immersion detector must not be more than 7 meters away from all possible fall
locations.
For a larger swimming pool, several immersion detectors must be installed. Contact your
retailer for advice.
In the case of a pool of a particular shape, contact your retailer for advice.

The water level must be checked regularly, and must be restored if required to
maintain an immersion depth of 15 cm (+/- 3cm). The installation of a level controller
is recommended. Contact your retailer for advice.
If the probe is immersed to deeply, or not deeply enough, (or even not at all), your immersion
detector will not work properly. Please make sure that the recommended immersion depth
is respected.

Warning: for the first 30 minutes after your device has been activated with the magnet for
the first time, the siren sounds only for a short time, at a low volume. You are in TEST mode.
For more information on this mode, refer to item 4.5.
3.5. Installation tests
Make sure that the pool is still, and that your immersion detector is monitoring (indicator light off).
If such is not the case, move the magnet over the swimmer symbol:
If in spite of this, the indicator light does not go
off, this means that the pool is not still enough.
You must imperatively wait until your pool is still
before carrying out the tests.
Prepare a 6 kg weight by taping together the four 1.5 liter water bottles, as shown below:
To make it easier for you to recover the 6 kg
weight from the pool, we recommend that
you tie a rope about 2 meters long around
the neck of one of the 4 bottles.

Incorrect installation
Using the measuring tape, measure the immersion
depth from the water level. This must be between
12 cm and 18 cm (ideally 15cm). If the immersion depth
is not right, mark out the recommended depth
of 15 cm (+/- 3cm) using a pencil and measuring tape.
Example:
Immersion depth recorded = 25 cm.
Recommended depth = 15 cm ± 3 cm.
You must carefully cut your probe down to size by:
25 - 15 = 10 cm from the bottom of the tube.
12
13
Remove the wedge plug, and for ConfortTM,
remove the pH probe from its housing,
behind the rigid tube.
Unscrew the 2 screws holding the rigid
tube.
14
15
Firmly hold the rigid tube while cutting with
the hacksaw.
Carefully remove the rigid tube.
DO NOT REMOVE THE BLACK TUBE.
12
16
17
Carefully replace the tube by pushing it in
deep enough (about 3 cm): Align the 2 holes
already drilled.
Tighten the 2 screws holding the tube, and
for ConfortTM, put the pH probe back in its
housing behind the rigid tube.
For ConfortTM, in order to adjust the length of the wires of the pH probe and temperature probe,
proceed as follows:
18
19
Loosen the left-hand cable gland to release
the temperature probe. Adjust the length of
the wire so that the end of the probe is just
above the rigid tube plug.
Loosen the right-hand cable gland to release the
pH probe. Adjust the length of the wire so that
the end of the probe is immersed by 3 to 5 cm.
The two cable glands must imperatively be properly retightened to ensure proper
operation of the device. Perform these operations with care, without pulling too
much on the wires.
20
21
Cut the black tube flush with the rigid tube,
using shears or heavy-duty scissors.
Replace the wedge plug.
13
22
23
Position and push in the 4 rawplugs. These
must be flush with the coping.
Drill the 4 holes with a Ø8mm bit.
The installation of the foam pads, like the fastening (screws, washers, joints, etc.),
must be done with care to ensure waterproofing and smooth functioning of
your device.
24
25
Replace the 4 pieces of stabilizing foam.
Reposition the device on the coping.

YOUR IMMERSION DETECTOR IS NOW ACTIVE,
WITH THE INDICATOR LIGHT OFF.
Make sure that you are no longer in TEST mode: the siren must be at full volume (100dB)
You must always perform additional fall tests at different locations in the pool (including steps);
the siren will go off loudly. If you do not stop it manually by moving the magnet over the swimmer
symbol, the siren will sound for 1 minute and 30 seconds.
Check that the alarm can be heard from the residence/living quarters.
4. Using Sun™/Confort™
The magnets must be kept out of the reach of children under five.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
• Certain rough weather conditions (strong winds, storms, etc.) and the use of certain powerful
cleaning equipment can cause untimely alarm triggering.
• Your alarm system will not operate if the water in the probe is frozen or the surface of the
pool is frozen. It is hard to know when the water is frozen in the tube. If in doubt, check that
your immersion detector is working properly.
• When cleaning the outside of your device, (waterline, etc.), do not use any high-pressure
cleaning apparatus, abrasive brush and/or other implements which might scratch or damage
your immersion detector.
• To ensure proper operation of your device, please keep the water pure and clean (in particular,
to avoid algae formation inside the probe).
• You are reminded that the French act No. 2003-9 dated 3 January 2003 on swimming pool
safety requires that a device be installed permanently throughout the year.
Your retailer or AstralPool, or MG International cannot be held liable in the event of drowning
after the removal or complete stopping of your alarm system for whatever reason.
• Should you restart your immersion detector after a long period, perform the tests described
in item 3.7. In case of a problem, contact your retailer immediately.
• The only authorized operation on the device once it is installed is changing the battery.
• Regularly check that your fall detector is working properly by performing the monthly tests
mentioned in this guide (see page 8), or have it checked by a professional.
• Some cleaning robots like diving robot are incompatible with immersion detection systems.
• The performance as defined in standard NF P90-307/A1 is not guaranteed beyond wind levels
greater than those specified in this standard.
17
• Any user who shuts off the system must be aware that surveillance by a person must take over
from the system.
• Action must be taken when the siren is heard.
• The greatest vigilance by the parent/responsible adult is necessary between the end of the
swim and reactivation of the alarm system.
• Do not activate the swim jet system after swimming, to allow the reactivation of the alarm system.
4.1. I want to have a swim
While the immersion detector is monitoring
(indicator light), move the magnet over the
swimmer symbol in the activation area of
your device:
1
The red indicator light of your immersion
detector is flashing, you can have a swim
without setting off the siren.
After the swim or deactivation of the device,
your immersion detector automatically
resumes monitoring as soon as the pool is
still again. The automatic restart can take
place about 10 minutes after the end of the
swim, depending on the disturbance in the
pool and the wind conditions.
2
x10
DURING THIS TIME, YOUR POOL IS
NOT PROTECTED.
UTMOST VIGILANCE IS REQUIRED
FROM THE PARENT/RESPONSIBLE
ADULT.
3
Your immersion detector is no longer
monitoring, the red indicator light is
flashing.
18
4.2. Automatic restart
Your immersion detector continuously checks the pool disturbance conditions. As soon as your
pool becomes still again, after a swim or strong disturbance (strong wind, swim jet, etc.) your
immersion detector resumes monitoring.
Your pool is now protected.
4.3. Manual restart
After your swim, you can ask your device to
resume monitoring by moving the magnet
over the swimmer symbol.
You are then in one of the following situations:
1 Your immersion detector considers that your pool is still too disturbed. In this case, it cannot
resume monitoring immediately, and indicates this by emitting a long beep, immediately followed
by 10 high-pitched beeps, and the red indicator light keeps flashing. You can either wait for the
automatic restart, or wait for the pool to be sufficiently still before trying manual restart again.
DURING THIS TIME, YOUR POOL IS NOT PROTECTED. THE UTMOST VIGILANCE IS
REQUIRED FROM THE PARENT/RESPONSIBLE ADULT.
2 Your immersion detector considers that it can resume monitoring. You will hear a long beep,
and see the red indicator light go out. Your pool is now being monitored.
4.4. Too much wind
In some cases, in the presence of rough weather conditions (strong wind, gusts of wind, etc.), your
immersion detector is likely to stop monitoring function. Its red indicator light flashes.
YOU MUST BE PARTICULARLY VIGILANT WHEN THE WEATHER IS ROUGH.
Warning: The performance as defined in standard NF P90-307/A1 is not guaranteed beyond
wind levels greater than those specified in this standard.
19
4.5. TEST mode
In this mode, the siren sounds only for a short time, and at a low volume. This mode allows you to
perform the installation and monthly tests without disturbing you or the neighborhood.
The TEST mode lasts for 30 minutes. Exit from the TEST mode is indicated by a 5-second,
low-volume specific tune.
When all tests have been carried out successfully, you must wait for 30 minimum minutes without
prompting the device to leave the test mode automatically.
If the device leaves the test mode before completion of the tests, disconnect the battery and wait
for a few minutes before reconnecting it to return to the test mode.
4.6. Off stop
In complete stop mode, the indicator light of your immersion detector flashes once per minute.
You are reminded that the French act No. 2003-9 dated 3 January 2003 on swimming pool safety
requires that a device be installed permanently throughout the year.
Your retailer or AstralPool, or MG International cannot be held liable in the event of drowning after
the removal or complete stopping of your alarm system for whatever reason.
When your immersion detector is in complete stop mode, vigilance by a person must
imperatively take over, or another standard safety system must be installed as an alternative.
Place and keep one of the magnets on the red
stop sign until you obtain a continuous red light
signal, then move the second magnet over the
swimmer symbol.
A series of high-pitched beeps (10 short beeps)
and the indicator light flashing once a minute
confirm that the device is in complete stop mode.
To reactivate your immersion detector:
I Move the magnet over the swimmer symbol;
I You will hear 10 short, high-pitched beeps + flashing red indicator light;
I Wait for the automatic restart (long beep - indicator light off) or restart manually (see item 4.3).
Please make sure that your immersion detector is in monitoring mode before leaving
your pool. If such is not the case, utmost vigilance is required from the parent/responsible
adult.
20
4.7. Replacing the batteries
Your immersion detector gives a low-battery alert by:
I 1 short, low-pitched beep every minute,
I 4 short, low-pitched beeps every time the magnet is moved over the swimmer symbol.
In this case, the 7V lithium battery must imperatively be replaced as soon as possible with a new
battery, available from your retailer.
Once the battery has been replaced, put the cover back on, screw the 4 screws and replace
the 4 plugs on the cover.
You must imperatively perform the validation tests described in item 3.7.
Be responsible, and take the old batteries back to your retailer instead of throwing them away.
We advise you not to change the batteries at the start of the season.

6. Further information
LEGAL INFORMATION
The French Act No. 2003-9 and its implementing order No. 2003-1389 were passed in order to fight
against the growing number of accidents and drownings in privately-owned swimming pools for individual or
collective use.
These laws set the following provisions:
Starting from January 1, 2004, any new, non-enclosed, in-ground private swimming pool for individual or
collective use must be fitted with a standardized safety system.
As of this date, the builder or installer of such a swimming pool must provide the owner with a technical
sheet indicating the system chosen.
Owners of non-enclosed in-ground private swimming pools for individual or collective use, installed
before January 1, 2004, must have equipped their swimming pool with a standardized safety system by
January 1, 2006.
22
If the dwelling is rented seasonally, a standardized safety system must be installed before May 1, 2004.
The importance of active monitoring by parents must be underlined.
SAFETY ADVICE RELATED TO THE ALARM
This alarm system is not a replacement for common sense or individual responsibility. Its purpose is not
to be a replacement for vigilance by a parent or responsible adult, which remains the vital factor
in protecting children under the age of 5.
This alarm is a protective device which signals a danger (or danger risk). A responsible adult must take
quick action within 3 minutes of the sounding of the alarm signal.
Any user who shuts off the system must be aware that surveillance by a person must take over from the
system.
You must take action when the failure signal sounds are heard.
The greatest vigilance by the parent/responsible adult is necessary between the end of the swim and
reactivation of the alarm system.
Switch of the swim jet at the end of the swim, to allow the reactivation of the alarm system.
The performance as defined in standard NF P90-307/A1 is not guaranteed beyond wind levels greater
than those specified in this standard.
In no event must the installation of the alarm system reduce your vigilance or replace active monitoring
of the swimming pool and the area around it.
This alarm system, like any other safety device or equipment, is an additional tool which is useful in the
event of a momentary lack of surveillance.
GENERAL SAFETY ADVICE
You alone are responsible for your children's safety!
The risk is greatest when children are less than five years old.
Accidents don't just happen to other people!
Be prepared, and tackle it!
Monitor and act!
I Children must be constantly supervised from nearby.
I Nominate one adult as responsible for safety.
I Increase monitoring when there are many people using the pool.
I Teach your children to swim as early as possible.
I Wet back of neck, arms and legs before entering the water.
I Learn the steps that save lives, especially those for children.
I Prohibit diving and jumping in the presence of small children.
I Prohibit running and playing around the pool.
I Do not allow a child who does not swim well to enter the pool without a life jacket or vest, or unaccompanied.
I Do not leave toys near or in an unattended pool.
I Constantly maintain clear and pure water.
I Store water treatment products out of reach of children.
I Some swim jet systems do not allow the immersion detection system to be reactivated automatically.
I Some robot cleaners like diving robot are incompatible with immersion detection systems.
I In order to prevent access to the pool by children under five when the failure signal has triggered, take
all the required measures until the device is repaired.
I The only authorized operation is to change the batteries at the beginning of the season.
Be prepared!
I Telephone accessible near the pool to not leave your children unattended while you phone.
I Life-buoy and pole near the pool.
23
In the event of accident
I Remove the child from the water as quickly as possible.
I Immediately call the emergency services and follow the instructions they give you.
I Replace wet clothes with warm blankets.
Emergency phone numbers (to be learnt by heart and displayed near the pool)
Fire brigade: 18
I Emergency medical service: 15
I European emergency number: 112 (from all phones)

There is no zero risk.
Only active monitoring by you, combined with passive monitoring by your
immersion detector can give a high level of safety.
In no event must the installation of this alarm system reduce your vigilance
or replace active monitoring of the swimming pool and the area around it.
Speed of intervention after the alarm is triggered is decisive.
Never go too far if your child is playing near the pool.
Guidelines on resuscitations and first aid procedures are available in many
emergency centers or associations.
You can also contact your state health insurance office to attend first aid
courses.

Remarks:
Your immersion detector has been designed and configured to detect a child (minimum weight 6 kg) falling into a swimming pool with maximum
dimensions of 10 m x 5 m. You must imperatively perform these validation tests after final setting up of your immersion detector, by scrupulously
following the recommendations given in the installation and operation guide. In case of malfunction, please refer to the recommendations written on the
packaging, or contact your retailer. Make sure that the pool is still, that there is no wind, and that your immersion detector is monitoring (indicator light
off). If such is not the case, move the magnet over the swimmer symbol. If in spite of this, the indicator light does not go off, the pool is not still enough.
You must imperatively wait until your pool is still before carrying out the tests.
