Similarly, to avoid accidents during pump operation: washing, swimming or domestic animals bathing, watering is strictly forbidden around the pump operating area. 8. When the pump is immersed, handling should not be carried out using the power cable, but by using a device (for ex. a rope) connected to the grommets (7). 9. Water pollution may occur following lubricant leakage. 10. If the pump is not in good condition, do not use it. Have it repaired by an authorized centre. 3.4- Safety related to pump applications The following conditions must be observed when using the water pump: 1. The pump must be installed and used in compliance with national/local laws. 2. The pump is used for small diameter well. It is widely used in areas of low water level, high head and far distance to draw water. 3. These pumps are recommended for pumping clean water and chemically non-aggressive fluids. 4. They are not suitable for pumping inflammable liquids or for operating in places where there is danger of fire or explosion. 5. When storing, do not pile weights or other boxes on top of the pump. 6. The manufacturer declines all responsibility in the event of accident or damage due to negligence or failure to observe the instructions described in this book or in conditions that differ from those indicated on the rating plate. It also declines all responsibility for damage caused by improper use of the water pump. 7. Pumping medium is clean water, which temperature must be below 35°C or other non corrosive liquids with same physical and chemical characters as water; with a PH value between 6.8 and 8. 8. The content of solids in water should be below 0.1% (quality proportion) and diameter must be smaller than 0.2mm. 9. The submersible pump shall not be used in swimming pools. 10. NOTICE! : Installation can be a fairly complex operation. It must therefore be carried out by competent and authorized persons. 11. Caution: during installation apply all safety regulations issued by the competent / local authorities and use common sense at all times. Page 16 / 52 IV. GETTING STARTED a- Before installing the water pump, make sure that the power supply mains is earthed and complies with regulations. b- Do not underestimate the risk of drowning if the installation has to be performed in a well at a certain depth. c- Make sure there are no toxic discharges or harmful gases present in the atmosphere. d- If the installation involves welding, take all necessary precautions to avoid explosions. e- Ensure that the well is free of sand and other deposits and that it is important for the pump to be lifted in and out. f- Caution: If there is any doubt about the safety of the pump, do not use it. 4.1- Unpacking 4.1.1- Check the pump 1. Remove product from its packaging and check that product and accessories are not damaged. 2. Check all of the rated values on the rating plate of the pump whether or not matching with the motor and that the pump is whether in good condition. 3. Before installation, check on the nameplate of the pump whether in accordance with the demands of application conditions 4. Check that the shaft of the pump can rotate freely. 4.1.2- Check the motor 1. Firstly check on the name plate that the model, power (HP or kW), voltage, phase and frequency, meet with your requirements. 2. Check the motor cable whether it is fastened properly and in good condition. 3. Use a DC mega-ohm-meter with 500 or 1000 volt-ampere to measure the insulated-resistance for each motor cable to the base plate of motor. The insulated-resistance should be 20 mega-ohm at lowest which is for the motor but not for the cable. 4. Take note of the motor model, power (HP or kW), voltage, date code and serial number in a recording sheet for future reference. 4.2- Well or installation location conditions 1. The well, where you intend to install the deep well submersible pump, should: - be a straight well, - keep a certain gap between the biggest outer-diameter of the pump and the inner wall of the well. Make sure that when the pump is operating at the stipulated depth, it must not touch the walls of the well. 2. Fit a steel pipe or a hard rubber pipe to the outlet connector (6) and fixed by a hoop tightly. Fix the hanging rope in hanging ring (7-grommets) and prepare to hang up the pump. NOTE: it is strictly forbidden to use power cable as hanging rope. The submerged depth of the pump cannot exceed more than 15 meters and the distance from bottom should be over 50cm. It is recommended to install a dirt-stopping grid around the pump to prevent foreign materials, such as water weeds, block the filter net, and influence the pump normal operation. 3. The motor should be kept sufficiently cool. The well should provide with enough water quantity, to ensure max flow which is stipulated on the rating plate If the condition and structure of the well cannot ensure the stipulated quantity of water, the temperature of water in well may exceed 40 °C (104F), you should reduce the load of motor or increase the gush quantity to prevent over heat of motor. 4. The installation of a non-return valve on the delivery pipe is not required as one is already incorporated inside the pump. 5. Install probes which will cut off the pump power supply before the water level drops to the level Page 17 / 52 that leaves the pump exposed. 4.3- Electrical connection 4.3.1- Power supply 1. Check the voltage, frequency and intensity of power supply, whether it is according with the requirements of motor. 2. The voltage of power supply should be (in the case of single-phase voltage) 220-240 V (these are the permitted limit values), 50-60Hz, the voltage fluctuation is within 0.94-1.06 times the rated value. 3. Avoid contact between the power supply and the liquid to be pumped. 4.3.2- Cable 1. The cable should be suitable for use in water and its size can endure the current of motor. The cable should comply with the local standards. In order to keep the line voltage, the length of cable cannot exceed the stipulated length by motor manufacturer (i.e. < 40m). 2. If the distance to power supply is far, it is recommended to use a bigger diameter cable. The insulation resistance of motor stator winding should be over 5mega-Ohm. 3. It is first recommended to hang the pump and fixed it firmly, then install a leakage protector at the end of power cable and finally make earth grounding connection with the ground wire. The wire identified by the colour combination green/yellow shall be grounded safely to prevent electric shock (plug marked grounding). 4. Fix the power supply cable to the delivery pipe so that it can not be twisted. Allow for expansion of the delivery pipe by leaving a little slack between the clamps. 5. When carrying out connections, make sure that there is an efficient earth circuit. 6. The earth wire must be longer than the live wires, and must be the first wire to be connected when the pump is being set up and the last to be disconnected during disassembly 7. Connect the pump to a socket of 2 poles + earth type of 10-16A/250V, fitted with residual current device (RCD) or circuit breaker with a sensitivity not exceeding 30mA. 4.4- Control Box 1. Each single phase three wires of the motor should be connected to a control box 2. Check that the data on the rating plate corresponds with the stipulated values. 3. According to the standard, the control box should consist of the capacitor providing single-phase power, two poles switch and overload cut off protection. 4. Check the electrical equipment installations and control box which should accord with all of the safety rules and the requirements of motor where included the size of fuse or breaker and over-load protector, all of metal pipe and control box connected with the earth wire of power supply to prevent electric shock, should conform to the safety rule of law both of national and regional. 5. If the overload cut-out triggers, check the cause of the overload before restart again. 6. Caution: It is the installer's responsibility to perform the connections in compliance with the regulation in force in the country of installation. 4.5- Pump/motor installation 1. If the pump is installed in an enclosed area with emission of noxious fumes, the installation must be carried out in compliance with local and/or national laws by qualified personnel so as to avoid danger. 2. The pump must be in a vertical position over 0.5m from the water bottom (ensure that it is stable during operation). 3. The suction holes (9) must never be obstructed (e.g. avoid clogging by weed or other matter). It is therefore preferable that the pump should never be placed directly on the ground or on the bottom of the well. For example, place the pump on a brick. 4. Inspect the pump shaft as it should be rotating freely. 5. The pump can be installed either using metal piping (which can be used to support the pump) or Page 18 / 52 flexible piping. 6. In the case of flexible piping, the pump must be supported by a cable made of material which is not liable to deteriorate in the long term. The cable should be passed through the two grommets (7) on the cover. 7. Check the pump, motor, cable, or the socket connection whether they are in good condition. All the screws connected should be tightened. 8. After connecting the pump to the power supply, let the motor run idle for a few seconds to check the pump is correctly starting, operating, and motor is running in proper direction. 9. Note:- you may use plastic or rubber clips to support the power cord to the discharge at regular intervals of 3 meters (10feet). - ensure that discharge pipe joints are tightened to prevent loosening due to the torque of motor. 4.6- Operation 1. Before starting the pump, check: - the direction of motor rotation: trial-run the pump for no more than 1 minute to check the motor rotates counter clockwise (when looking at pump from above); - that electrical connection is correctly setup; - that the electrical cable and drain hose are properly laid to avoid accidents; - that check valves (if fitted) are opened 2. Check all joints of water pipe to determine water does not leak and soak any electric component. 3. Start the pump to check the ampere value and the condition for water to be discharged by the pump. If it is under normal conditions; then you may let the pump continue operating until water is clean and unblocked. 4. After starting, check that motor operates and stops without noise and vibrations. 5. After operating for at least 15 minutes, check pump output, motor input, lowest level of water and other characteristics. All above should be steady and in accord with the assigned characteristics. 6. Check the pump performance whether the capacity of pump should be in 0.7 ~1.2 times rated scope, otherwise the pump operating is in abnormal condition, so the motor may overheat, even burn. 7. If any abnormal phenomenon appears, such as abnormal sound, lack of water or intermittent flow, you should stop the motor immediately and investigate the reasons. Regularly check water level during pump operating so as not to fall under pump recommended lower level, as the pump cannot operate if water level is low. Pay attention during cold temperatures (when air temperature is below 4°C) to prevent frost-broken the pump body. 8. Do not wash, swim and pasture domestic animals in water within the pump working area for about two square meters. 9. Strictly forbid anyone to touch the pump by hand when under power so as to avoid accident. V. OPERATION 5.1- Intended use 1. This submersible pump can be used for domestic, industrial or farming applications, for pumping clear water with particles in suspension that are less than 0.2mm in diameter. 2. The pump is fully submersible: the immersion depth must not exceed 15m (refer to characteristics table). 3. The pump should not be used for sucking up liquids or materials that are corrosive, combustible/flammable or explosive. 4. The temperature of liquids sucked up should not exceed 35°C. 5. Any other use, other than that described in the instructions, is likely to damage the pump and to put the user in serious danger. Page 19 / 52 5.2- Operation 1. Connect pump control box to mains power. The pump will start and stop as soon as the switch is pressed. 2. Warning ! Never operate the pump without water. Check the water level frequently while in operation, to see whether it is lowering and the pump shall not be out of water while running. The submersible pump must be immersed before switching on. 5.3- Advise for users 1. if discharge stops although the pump continues to function, switch it off immediately. Unplug the pump from the mains and check to see what is causing the problem. Never attempt to remove the turbine when the pump is still connected to the power supply. 2. The pump control box is protected by a thermal safety. In the event of overheating, the motor stops automatically. As soon as the temperature returns to normal, press the reset button (5) to restart pump. VI. MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE Before any intervention on product, ensure that product is disconnected form its power source. 6.1- Maintenance 1. The pump does not require specific cleansing. 2. However, if you remove pump for storage, rinse out the pump with clean water, including the suction circuit. 3. Before each re-use, ensure that all parts of the pump are in good working order. 4. Do not use aggressive cleansers (solvents or abrasive cleansers), or an abrasive sponge or sharp point scrapers. 5.
