Port Controller
7.
Port Controller
The Port Controller accepts client connections on defined
ports, spools client data and passes the data to a predefined launch program.
The launched program can, for example, execute a PERL script that uses the Command Line Interface to submit a job or modify job attributes.
The Port Controller does not delete processed jobs. It is the responsibility of the launched application or script to clean up the disk when job processing is complete.
Multiple simultaneous active connections are possible, limited by the host system resources. Port Gateway will backlog up to 5 pending connections, any more than that will be dropped, but this does not affect the number of active connections.
Port Gateway can be used to perform the following:
• Add a new port for monitoring
• Delete an existing port
• Block new connections
• Stop connections
• Start or Stop polling for new files to process
• Configure a spool directory for each port
• Optionally restrict access to the port from a specific incoming
• Allocate disk space to the port for spooling
