Network Video Management System Release Notes

What’s New in This Release

The following new features and enhancements have been added as part of this release.

Multiple Codec Support

The VideoEdge Network Video Recorder (NVR) supports multiple codecs. The server includes support for the American Dynamics’ Active Content Compression (ACC), MPEG-4 (Part 2) for specified camera and encoder devices, as well as Motion JPEG. The NVR will automatically provide the applicable video codec option(s) for the specified make and model device.

Active Content Compression (ACC)

ACC cameras will require the installation of the Sensormatic VideoEdge ACC

ActiveX controls (1.0.390.201) onto a Windows XP machine by a user with

• local administrative privileges.

ACC video can be viewed from the VideoEdge NVR using a web browser.

− ACC video can be viewed from Windows XP using Internet Explorer 6.x or 7.x.

ACC video can be viewed from the VideoEdge NVR using any of the richclient applications (Vx Client, Vx Player, VMx Agent, Cx Alert Console) on

Windows XP Professional SP2+ platform.

MPEG-4 Part-2

MPEG-4 is a licensed technology and VideoEdge NVR includes one viewing client license for each NVR camera license.

• MPEG-4 cameras (video and audio/video) will require the installation of the

Apple QuickTime (7.2~7.5 for Windows) application onto the local machine by

• a user with local administrative privileges.

MPEG-4 video can be viewed from the VideoEdge NVR using a web browser, e.g.

Windows 2000/XP using Internet Explorer 7.x, Firefox 2.x or Safari 3.x

− Macintosh using Safari

− UNIX using Firefox

MPEG-4 video can be viewed from the VideoEdge NVR using any of the richclient applications (Vx Client, Vx Player, VMx Agent, Cx Alert Console) on

Motion JPEG (M-JPEG)

• M-JPEG cameras will require the installation of the Sun Microsystems JAVA application (1.50 for Windows) onto the local machine by a user with local

M-JPEG video can be viewed from the VideoEdge NVR using a web browser, e.g.

Windows 2000/XP using Internet Explorer 7.x, Firefox 2.x or Safari 3.x

Macintosh using Safari

− UNIX using Firefox
