Application Protocols
Application protocols represent types of Internet data transmitted via particular protocols or applications.
Application protocols are defined on port type. But, Cyberoam identifies protocol based on signature also and can filter Internet requests based on protocols or applications other than HTTP,
HTTPS or FTP, for example those used for instant messaging, file sharing, file transfer, mail, and various other network operations.
You can also create:
• Customized protocol definitions, if required
• Firewall rule for customized protocol definitions
Cyberoam also provides several standard protocol definitions which can be used for filtering. See
Appendix B for a complete list of protocols provided by Cyberoam which is constantly updated.
Application protocols represent types of Internet data transmitted via particular protocols or applications.
Note
1. Standard Protocol definitions are available only if ‘Application Based Control’ add-on module is registered
2. Only customized protocols can be modified or deleted
Manage Standard Application protocol
Standard protocol definitions are available for use only if ‘Application Based Control’ add-on module is registered. Database of protocol definitions is constantly updated by Cyberoam.
If the module is not registered, page is displayed with the message ‘Application Based Control’ module is not registered.
See Register Add on Modules for registering Application Based Control module. Module can also be registered as ‘Demo’ version if you have yet not purchased but will expire after 15 days of registeration.
Once the module is registered, the standard protocols can be used for filtering.
Select
Policy Settings Æ Application protocols Æ Manage Standard to view the list of default Application protocols.
