Selections

About selections

Selections contain the root data object and any number of child objects. Their primary function is data retrieval.

There are two selection types available to the user.



Active Selections read data from a database or from SAP.



XSD Selections read data from an XML file.

Define the start parameters

To specify start parameters for the selection, complete the following steps.

1. Open the selection.

2. In the Object Inspector pane, click the Start Parameter property and click the Ellipsis button.

3. In the Start Parameter dialog box, if you want to add values to the grid, complete the following substeps.

4. Click Add key.

1. In the Key name column, type the name of the key.

2. Optional. In the Prompt column, type the text of the prompt.

3. Optional. In the Default value column, type a default value for the key.

4. Optional. In the Input mask column, type an input mask. You can refer to List of formatting characters to get the list of characters that you can use to define an input mask.

5. Click OK.

5. To delete values from the grid, in the Start Parameter dialog box, click Delete key.
