2. Connecting your Computer to the Internet
Your wireless modem comes ready to use. Once you have completed the steps
from Section 1, “Connect the Modem”, you should turn on your computer. If
you are using a computer with wireless network capabilities, you should scan
for wireless networks using the instructions that came with your computer
or wireless adapter. From here, you will see a network named ‘ACNBB’. This is
your wireless network. Highlight it and click “Connect”. Once the connection
is made, you may open a browser and begin using the Internet. If the device is
working properly, the wireless and Internet lights will quickly flash to show data
transmission.
ACN recommends that you set up security measures provided by your modem.
At a minimum, you should turn on WEP security and establish an encryption key
or password. Instructions on how to do this can be found in the User Manual
located on www.acn.net.
If you have a computer that you wish to connect with an Ethernet cable, your
wireless modem also has four Ethernet LAN ports (B) on the back for directly
connecting other devices to your network. Once the connection is made, you
may open a browser and begin using the Internet. If the device is working
properly, the Ethernet and Internet lights will quickly flash to show data
transmission.

4. Install Filters on Telephone Jacks
Installing phone line filters (fig 4) prevents noise interference on the phone line
if you are using traditional telephone service. Be sure to install a phone line filter
between the wall jack and every device you connect to the jack, such as the
telephone, fax machine and answering machine.
DO NOT install filters on the modem itself.
1. Unplug the telephone cord from the wall jack.
2. Plug the phone line filter into the wall jack.
3. Plug the end of the telephone cord that you unplugged from the wall into the jack on the filter.
4. Repeat for all telephones that share the same phone number as your ACN High Speed
Internet service.
Note: Please ensure there are no filters on the
phone cord between the modem and the wall
jack, as this will prevent connection
to the ACN network.
5. Installing a Splitter
You can use the Splitter (fig 3) to
connect the modem and the phone
to the same wall jack (as shown here). Ensure the modem is connected to
the side of the splitter labeled as
MODEM.
