Line Ingest Operations
Line ingest jobs (Ingest and encoding of video) are planned, controlled, monitored in the Timeline View.
The Timeline view provides the Operator with an overview of all Jobs (recording tasks) on the timeline.
On this view metadata can be stored and updated.
Nexio Ingest Suite imports the relevant Job data from the Mediabase and triggers the recording channel on the video server before the video must be encoded.
The encoding module uses real-time timecode for the recording, and therefore broken time codes can be avoided.
Figure 7: Timeline View
Creating a Recording Job
Recording tasks can be created manually by a designated Operator. Recordings can either be inserted into the Timeline or started immediately as so-called Ad-hoc Recordings (Crash Recordings).
In either case, technical and descriptive metadata is automatically created, and this can be modified in the Job’s “Properties” dialog.

Background Information
Nexio Ingest Suite SystemManager is a web application based on Microsoft Silverlight technology.
Microsoft offers a Silverlight plugin for your web browsers with allows for “rich internet applications”.
This will provide for more comfortable and extensive functionality than what is possible with standard
HTML pages. The different functional areas are referred to as “Silverparts”.
Process Monitoring: Search and Search Results
Search
Nexio Ingest Suite SystemManager offers two different searching options:

Option1: Use the search mask. In this mask the user can select different criteria in order to filter the results depending on the process type, customer-specific metadata or process status.
Option 2: Apply and use preconfigured searches. These will be displayed as Workfolders.
Workfolder
Search Mask
Figure 18: Nexio Ingest Suite SystemManager Search Mask
Search for: Metadata, creation time, execution time, source, Target, special types derived from modules, specific workflows, Job state (e.g. In Process, Done, Error), Priorities
Query Command Window: Displays the search query as SQL for improved visibility/understanding for database admins
Searches can be stored and reloaded later
The search results are displayed in the process monitoring.
Search Results
The search results are displayed in table
The columns of this table are configured by arvato Systems in order to show the most important information on the first glance
The details include e.g. the status of the process
In the workflow tree, the individual processes are shown. Processes can be restarted using the Start-
Icon shown behind the process depending on the process status (e.g. in case of errors processes can be restarted).
The user can open the log file for selected workflows. In order to view the log files, the additional application Log4View must be installed

Process Monitoring
The Process Overview provides a tabular presentation of the processes. With a glance, the user sees the process types, status, and additional details and the table rows can be manually sorted and/or rearranged.
Process Details
In the Process Overview you can select single processes, and then view additional information in the
Process Detail view.
Workflow
The Workflow view shows the different sub-processes of a workflow and their status. For each
Workflow you can view the properties, and you can also jump to a specific process to view its details as well.

Module Monitor
System Manager
Figure 20: Nexio Ingest Suite System Manager Module Monitoring
Provides system monitoring
Presents all the modules installed and supported by the system
For each module the following information is displayed: Status, Installation status, Instance number,
Module version, Configuration, Host, Last error message, Intended purpose
Health: Which condition is the module currently in.
For each single module, its status (running or not) can be displayed. Additionally, it can be displayed whether single processes within the module are executed correctly .
Different actions can be carried out for or with the modules, and these are found in the results table or can be called up through a right-click. Among these:
Update the display of, Start, or Stop the module
Forced Stop (the module should not try to gracefully end the current process, rather terminate immediately)
View logfiles by module types.
Install a new version of a module by selecting the option Install

Logfile View
System Manager
Each Nexio Ingest Suite “Worker” and Service stores daily logs on the computer on which the module is running. The logfiles provides details on the execution of tasks with details on the processes and error messages for administrators and developers.
The detail level of the log files is configurable, and the “log level” is tied to each process. This provides the capability to filter and store information suited for different usages.
The log files are collected daily through Nexio Ingest Suite scripts and added to a central Zip archive.
The Nexio Ingest Suite System Manager allows for the opening of log files of the different modules through the use of Log4View.
Log4View provides the user with filter and search functions to drill into different log levels and thus present the information into a reduced, more readable format.
Log File View in Log4View
All log files can be viewed for all processes.
Log File View for a Specific Process
It is also possible to view the log files for specific processes.

User Group and Rights Administration
Restrictions to access to functionality is implemented with a Rights concept for User Groups. For example, the starting and stopping of modules can be limited to specific groups of users.
Click on the key icon in the upper right area to manage users and groups.
The roles of the groups must be specified and entered by arvato Systems and are read from the database
Different settings can be customer-specific, and can be viewed by clicking on the wrench in the upper right area
