Operating Procedure

Operating Procedure

Set-Up

1.

Connect the hose to the sprayer, tighten securely.

2.

Connect the other end of hose to the flex gun, tighten securely.

3.

Remove the tip and the guard from the gun.

4.

Turn the power switch OFF and plug the power supply cord into a properly grounded electrical outlet.

5.

Turn the prime valve into the prime mode. Place the siphon tube in a grounded metal pail partially filled with water.

6.

Turn the pressure control to lowest pressure.

7.

Turn the power switch ON.

8.

Increase the pressure to start the motor and allow the fluid to circulate through the drain tube for 15 seconds; then turn the pressure down.

9.

Turn the prime valve to spray (horizontal) and turn the spray gun trigger safety OFF.

10. Hold the gun against a grounded metal flushing pail.

Trigger the gun and increase the fluid pressure to

1/2. Flush the storage fluid from the unit for 1 minute.

11. Place the siphon tube in HILTI Firestop Speed

Spray.

12. Trigger the gun against the flushing pail until the

HILTI Firestop Speed Spray appears. Move the gun to the pail of HILTI Firestop Speed Spray and trigger for 20 seconds. Set the gun safety ON.

Application

1.

Assemble the tip and the guard appropriate for your unit.

• For the Ultra Max II 595 use the LTX225 tip.

• For the Ultra Max II 695 use the LTX331 tip.

2.

Spray the test pattern. Start with the pressure turned to its lowest setting then gradually increase pressure until you achieve a consistent spray pattern.

3.

Hold the gun perpendicular to the surface being sprayed.

Clean-up

1.

Turn the power OFF and unplug the sprayer.

2.

Turn the pressure to the lowest setting. Trigger the gun to relieve pressure.

3.

Remove the guard and the tip from gun.

4.

Remove the siphon tube from the HILTI Firestop

Speed Spray and place it in a bucket filled with 4 gallons of water.

5.

Plug in the sprayer and turn the power switch ON.

6.

Flush the pump, hose, and gun with water into a waste bucket.

For the Ultra Max II 595 unit put the prime valve in the spray mode.

For the Ultra Max II 695 unit use the Fast Flush

Cleaning System.

• Hold the gun trigger in and turn the prime valve down to the DRAIN position and then over to

FAST FLUSH.

• Continue flushing the system until the fluid appears clear.

7.

Mix 1/3 cup Dawn ® dish detergent with 4 gallons of clean water.

8.

Circulate the detergent/water mix through the gun and back into the supply bucket for 4 minutes.

NOTE: Hold the gun under water level to avoid detergent bubbles.

9.

Flush the detergent/water mixture from the pump, hose, and gun using clean water and a waste bucket.

10. Prime with mineral spirits to protect against freezing or corrosion.
