Presentation
Functions
The TSX PRG LDR module, which is compact and easy-to-use, offers the following functions for TSX Nano and TSX Micro PLCs :
• Permanent backup (in FLASH EPROM) of an application (program and constants)
• Fast duplication of applications and setting of the PLC to run mode after transfer
• Updating of applications on site without the need for a programming terminal
PLC memories used during application transfer
The module reads the application in the RAM of the TSX Nano or TSX Micro PLC.
The module writes the application to :
• the RAM of the TSX Nano or TSX Micro PLC with an application smaller than 15 Kwords which do not have a PCMCIA card,
• the backup memory of the PLC :
- EEPROM for TSX Nano PLCs,
- FLASH EPROM for TSX Micro PLCs with an application smaller than 15 Kwords which do not have a PCMCIA card.
!
Caution
Once the write operation is complete, the PLC automatically switches to RUN, unless it is conditioned by an input for this purpose.
This product must not be connected to any port other than the terminal port.
Physical description
1- 8-pin mini-DIN plug (RS 485 type) for connection to the PLC terminal port
2- 4 indicator lamps
OK : module operating.
Error : faults (see page 3).
Write to TSX : writes an application to the PLC.
Read from TSX : reads an application from the PLC.
3- Two buttons
W/R : selects the direction of transfer, Write to TSX or Read from TSX.
Enter : launches the selected transfer.
4- Two micro-switches
Write only : inhibits the direction of transfer,
Application Protection : used to read-protect the application after it has been transferred.

Setup
Reading an application
To read an application, the operator should connect to the PLC containing the application.

Procedure
Lamp flashing Lamp off
Results and status of indicator lamps
OK Error Write Read
1 Set the Write Only switch to OFF.
2 Connect the module to the PLC terminal port.
Running self-tests
Module waiting for function
3 Select Read from TSX via the
W/R button.
Starts communication with the PLC
Direction of transfer Read from TSX
Transfer in progress 4 Confirm the transfer with Enter.
(active for a period of 3 seconds)
Transfer complete
5 Disconnect the module.
6 Recommendation : set the Write Only switch to ON.
Writing an application
To transfer an application contained in the loader, the PLC connected must be the same type as that declared in the application.
Procedure
1 Connect the module to the PLC terminal port.
Results and status of indicator lamps
OK Error Write Read
Running self-tests
Module waiting for function
2 Select Write to TSX via the
W/R button.
Starts communication with the PLC
Direction of transfer Write to TSX
Transfer in progress 3 Confirm the transfer with Enter.
(active for a period of 3 seconds)
Transfer complete
4 Disconnect the module.
The Write Only option is used to read-protect the loader and thus avoid overwriting the application stored in the loader by a read error.
2
Setup
Protecting the application
Procedure
1 Read from a PLC where the application is not protected.
2 Set the Application Protection switch to ON.
3 Transfer the application to the target PLC.
!
Important
In order to ensure the integrity of the application, the Application Protection option cannot be reversed. Setting the switch from ON to OFF overwrites the application stored in the loader module.
Types of error and diagnostics
The following table summarizes the errors which may occur :
Status of indicator lamps Meanings
OK Error Write Read
• PLC connected is not a TSX Nano or TSX Micro
• V1.0 TSX Nano PLC (2A / 2B)
• PLC reserved
• TSX Micro PLC with PCMCIA memory card
• Commmunication fault ( transmission speed and format not standard)
• Module read-protected application (Write Only set to ON) and without stored
• Module read-protected application (Write Only set to ON) connected to a PLC incompatible with the stored
• Module without stored application and protected PLC
• application
Module without stored application and PLC application
• larger than 15 Kw
Module without stored application and PLC without application
Fault during Write to TSX transfer
Exit this state via the W/R key
Fault during Read from TSX transfer
Exit this state via the W/R key
The following table summarizes the states limiting these functions :
Write
Read not permitted
Read
Write not permitted
• Module read-protected (Write Only set to ON).
• PLC application protected.
• PLC without application
• PLC application larger than 15 Kw.
• Module without stored application.
• Application stored in the module incompatible with the PLC connected
( Compatibility test for TSX Micro applications).

Other limitations
Transfers of applications used as I/O to TSX Nano (rotary selector switch in positions 1,2,3,4) are not permitted.
TSX Micro applications with a transmission speed and format for the terminal port in UNI-
TELWAY master mode which are not configured for the standard cannot be managed by the program loader module.
The various transfers permitted
The module services and functions are managed by switches located on the base of the unit.
