Frequently asked questions

Place a few drops of distilled water on the prism, close the cover plate, and rotate the adjustment screw until the light/dark boundary lines up with the zero line. Clean the prism with a soft cloth after zero adjustment.

Place a few drops of the sample liquid on the measurement prism, close the cover plate to spread the sample evenly, and allow it to remain on the prism for approximately 30 seconds. Look through the eyepiece to read the sucrose concentration from the intersection of the light and dark fields.

The RF15 model has automatic temperature compensation. If you are using the RF10 model, use the Temperature Compensation Table to adjust the reading based on the temperature of the sample.
